Balancing fitness and battling cancer: one fitness professional's story

Balancing fitness and battling cancer: one fitness professional's story

I love my conversation with fitness professional Aimee Nicotera today. Quite simply, it humanizes the fitness professionals. We talk about perspective changes through her cancer battle, finding your own balance, and motivation shifts. And if you are someone who likes a strong takeaway, Aimee breaks down an ideal week of fitness over 40 to help you function your best.

Aimee Nicotera is an international fitness presenter and Virtual Studio Owner with over 25 years of experience. Aimee holds a BS in Nutrition Science, a Masters in Health Education, as well as numerous certifications, including those from ACSM, ACE and AFAA.  In addition, Aimee is a Level 2 Applied Health & Human Performance Specialist through the Institute of Motion. She is the creator of the fitness DVD series 2X2 Conditioning and Take 20!, as well as the format E5 COLLECTIVE. Aimee has extensive experience creating group fitness programs, as well as consulting, researching and writing for fitness product companies.

We discuss:

  • The importance of varying your workouts
  • Structuring a week of workouts after 40
  • Motivation shifts in women after 40
  • Her experience with battling breast cancer in 2019
  • The science behind exercising while undergoing chemotherapy treatment
  • The five pillars of E5 Collective based on science and life
