James "JT" Taylor was the lead singer and songwriter for Kool & The Gang during the late 1970s surge and 1980s dominance. The New Jersey product recalls opening up for the band years before becoming a member, joining them on the road, and getting down with the guys ahead of their Ladies Night album in 1979.
