#35 Business with Heart

In this episode, Roy and Catherine ask whether a business can be heart-led. Catherine opens with a story from her other show about a guest descended from a family as wealthy as the Rockefellers, whose fortune, unlike some of that era’s dynasties, was built entirely ethically and heart-led, with every deal structured so everyone involved came out ahead, a legacy that carried down generations into the guest’s business today. She makes the case that heart-led and highly successful aren’t a contradiction, it’s about alignment: people who are aligned and heart-led succeed because they’re not fighting themselves internally, while people who are aligned but ruthless can also succeed, but it’s the alignment doing the work either way. Roy connects this to the communities he’s built, the Authority Alliance and Connected Leaders Academy, both intentionally heart-led, and contrasts that with the doom-and-gloom version of the world pushed by news media. He notes that once people know you’re heart-led, opportunities and joint ventures come to you constantly, far more than he has bandwidth for, while people operating from ego and power trips tend to eventually shaft each other because that’s baked into how they operate. Catherine closes with the point that being heart-led isn’t just good ethics, it’s measurably better for your physical health too.

#35 Business with heart
[Speaker 1]
Welcome to episode number 35 of Diff'rent Points. I'm here with my co-host, Catherine Llewellyn, and I'm Roy Corlin. Today's question is, can a business be heart-led?

And the kind of follow-up is, like, business with heart. So what comes to mind when I say that to you, Catherine?

[Speaker 2]
Well, immediately I think anything can be heart-led, you know, because I can be heart-led in any moment or in any project I'm involved in, or not. It's entirely up to me. And it just reminded me of, on my other show, I had a guest on who, it turned out, was the descendant of an incredibly wealthy family, who were as wealthy as the Rockefellers and the, there were two or three very wealthy families, and some of them these days now have quite a sort of negative reputation, you know, for being kind of greedy and grasping, etc.

And he said that his particular family, which I've forgotten what it's called now, but which no one's ever heard of now, was just as wealthy as they were, but 100% ethical and heart-led in everything they were doing. You know, everyone they dealt with, they wanted to make sure everyone had a good deal out of it, and it absolutely worked. And that came down through the generations to him, to his business he's doing now.

And it was so wonderful to hear it, just to get that really tangible affirmation that being heart-led and being incredibly successful are not a contradiction in terms. The two can completely go together. And I think really it's about alignment.

You know, if you're really heart-led and completely aligned with that, you're much more likely to be successful than if you're conflicted. I think the thing that stops success is being conflicted on the inner level. So if you're aligned and heart-led, it's going to work.

Or if you're aligned and an absolute bastard, you might be successful. But it's the alignment that gets the success, I think. And, you know, business with heart, I would never be interested in anything other than business with heart.

[Speaker 1]
Beautiful. For me, I mean, like we're both part of a group myself and Bentley Stone created, and it's like the authority alliance. And that's something that we really want to have heart-led.

I'm in another group, the Connected Leaders, and there's a lot of heart-led people there. And the thing is, we hear of all the doom and gloom, but when you actually find people like the person you just mentioned, you see there's a load of beautiful things happening in the world. But because of the news media, they don't want you to see that.

They won't hear that. They'll only tell you the things that reduce your vibrations instead. So you have to surround yourself with people that are like that.

And what I find is when people know you're heart-led, so my podcast, all the things I do, it's all about making sure the future for my children is better. And people know that I get so many opportunities. Constantly people want to do joint ventures and everything.

They're constantly, it's just bandwidth, I can't do it. But I think people realize that they want to do business with that because there is, you see the opposite. And what happens, they always shaft each other because that's in their ethos.

You know, they just go, you know, and they think they're great. They come up with some scheme that's kind of, you know, it's not better for humanity, but then they have a power trip, you know, their egos get in the way. So I think make it your aim in life, whatever you do.

Like, yeah, can you add on extra zeros at a start? Yes. By just not caring.

But eventually, you know, it all comes together and it just gets better and better. And even, even if it doesn't, even if it's not about the money, you surround yourself with the right people so that every day becomes a joy as opposed to being in the wrong environment.

[Speaker 2]
100% completely. And also being heart-led is much, much better for your health as well, your physical health.

[Speaker 1]
Yeah. Okay. So thank you very much.

So be sure to give us a thumbs up, five star rating, share with maybe three friends and we read your comments. So if you have a question you want us to cover, just write in. Until the next episode, take care.
