Welcome to the meditation podcast. You can find all our episodes on meditationpodcast.org. What if your pet's symptoms weren't problems to eliminate, but messages to decode? Dr. Jeff Feinman is a veterinarian, molecular biologist, homeopath, and energy healer with over 40 years of experience. He's the founder of Holistic Actions, creator of the BEAM Blueprint, and a University of Pennsylvania University scholar who was trained with at Eckhart Tolle's School of Awakening.
His upcoming book, Path to Pet Wellness, grew out of his 35-year personal health mystery and the profound passing of his beloved dog. Today, we're exploring cellular joy, quantum healing, and how the animals in our lives might be among our greatest teachers on the path to human consciousness. Welcome to the show, Jeff.
Thank you for having me, Roy. It's a pleasure. So, I mean, I mentioned kind of your own story, so you might kind of tell us what actually happened yourself.
Well, sure. And I'll try to keep it short because it's a very 51-year-long story. It started in 1975 when I started experiencing my own scary neurological symptoms.
And at that point, so that was, what, 31 years ago, I started on the medical merry-go-round as far as diagnostics and trying to figure out what's wrong. And 35 years later, the diagnosis was made. But in the meantime, what I learned is that my own symptoms were not directly related in any way to my happiness, to my quality of life, to my way in the world, or my living my best life.
And that's when I began to realize that there was a disconnect between symptoms and happiness. Or conversely, maybe a direct connection. The more you focus on symptoms, the more unhappy you're going to be.
Absolutely, absolutely. And what were the symptoms? What exactly were you going through? What was your daily life like? Okay, well, if you want the core details, a lot of them are in, actually I cut out some of the core details out of the book. They started neurologically and what was being fondly called attacks on my body.
And by attacks, my brain and my muscles stopped communicating. So my arms didn't work, my legs didn't work, I couldn't speak. It was like you were really, really, really drunk.
You're looking at a 15-year-old that was really drunk and couldn't walk straight, couldn't do anything. And I would have attacks like that would last for a few minutes to a few hours for most of my growing up. And that helped frame my interest in the body and in molecular biology, which I didn't even know was a thing back then.
Actually, it wasn't a thing back then because molecular biology really didn't even come to the forefront until the mid-late 80s. I was very fortunate that I got to be there at the beginning. And the reason was that my own symptoms brought me there.
You know, I learned that I wanted to learn all that there was about the body. At the same time, I always had wanted to be a veterinarian. So even though I was learning about my body, I was going to apply it to my study of the animals.
And did you have animals when you were going through this and how did they react with you? Well, I did have animals. And at that time, the cats were not really part of, they didn't get involved with my symptoms. And my personal pet was a hamster named Houdini.
I used to magic as a little kid. Houdini was hamster was my assistant. And Houdini didn't seem to mind.
Houdini was very nonjudgmental. And that is one of the benefits of all of our animals is that they take you for what is going on in the moment. They're not judgmental.
Well, as you kind of progressed, then you started studying veterinarian. So kind of, what's your journey then once you decided to study this and how you connected with everything? Sure. If you want to go to the next step, then, you know, there actually were a lot of steps until I began to connect everything because we were trained as veterinarians is kind of like a trades person, you know, a plumber or an electrician, or we look at, you know, individual pieces of the body, the electrical system, the plumbing system, the kidneys, the brain and whatnot.
So, and they're all taught in separate buckets. They're not really interconnected. By about a decade of veterinary practice that way, I began to realize that there was more than I was taught in vet school.
That the more was parts that put the pieces, helped put the pieces together. And what I've seen over the years is that those pieces come together when we begin to look at the whole picture, which we don't look at as doctors when we hone in on one particular organ or one particular cell type or one particular problem or disease or diagnosis. We're kind of ignoring the fact that we're doing all medicine so we can have a happy, long, good quality of life.
So what, what, what, sorry, what, what began to make that connection more of a connection was my own meditation practice where I began to get these downloads that, that there was more around me than, than I could see. And, you know, this great quote in the book, it comes from the little prince, what is essential is invisible to the eye. So all the things that I had learned about vet school were things that we could see under the microscope with the eyes or by blood tests, but the invisible things like love and calm and peace and joy and happiness, those were the important things.
And those were the things that the animals begin to reframe my thinking towards. And that's what the book is all about. It's how, how you can connect the science and the day to day practice of veterinary medicine and animal care in general, because the book is written for parents, how you can connect that with most important invisible things in life.
And with somebody like the animals, what I've seen is I've had, I had one dog in Ireland for like 16 years, the most loving dog you could have. I had a lot of cats, same thing, extremely loving. The last one I had when I moved to Poland, my mom looked after, but that cat lived for 16 years as well.
And I had a dog here at Doberman and they were just all really loving and caring and people were really attracted to it. But what I've also seen is I see dogs that are aggressive and the owners are aggressive. It's like they replicate and I just like to know, how does that work? Well, this is the invisible part.
The invisible part is the energetic paradigm that really runs life. We live because of energy. We are alive because of the energy in our bodies that are created by little powerhouses and in our cells called mitochondria, but that's another story.
And the energy that you emit when you have a thought, when you have an emotion, when you're angry, when you're happy, when you're joyful, when you're relaxed, when you're in a sympathetic state or parasympathetic state, that invisible energy affects everything around us. Animals are extraordinarily sensitive to that energy. We can use that same energy to bring them into a place of peace, happiness, and calm by knowing that that is possible.
And that is actually the reason I read the book is to know, just to know. Everyone should know, even if they don't want to believe it or buy into it or practice it, they should know that there's a different way to think about life, about health, about quality of life, about our animals. With the chips that they're putting into all the dogs and cats, how is that affecting their energy field? That's a very interesting question that actually has never been asked and I'll have to research that further.
But the answer, and I will, I'll get back to you with an answer from people that work in the energy area where they're actually able to see and manipulate energy directly. In my experience as a veterinarian and pet parent that really doesn't have any of these extraordinary abilities that we all have, but we all forgot. It depends on the susceptibility of the individual of how it affects their energy field.
In general, I would say that the chips are pretty inert. They're made to be inactive, so the body doesn't even recognize them as a foreign body. The data would try and expel them like it does with a splinter.
And I have not yet seen an animal that's been physically affected by a chip because there's so many things all around us that are stronger effects on the body, such as toxins, such as pollution, such as inadequate food. And then of course there's what you mentioned, the anger or the emotions or the negative thoughts that we may have that are affecting our animals. All that is stronger than the effect.
You mentioned the food there, and that was one that, I mean, I think a lot of the companies, the food companies, dog food, cat food, they're putting gunk into it, which in turn, why unfortunately a lot of the animals are getting cancers. And I remember reading like they had 5% ash. And I was like, I never saw my dog or my cat going into the fireplace eating ash.
Why do they put ash in and what toxins are in these foods? Ash means the part of the food that doesn't burn. So when they don't actually add ash, but when they burn the ingredients, ash is left. How much ash is there? How much non-utilizable ingredients are there? And that's a different answer than cancer question.
What are there, what they're putting into these foods? I really, really, again, think it depends on the individual susceptibility of the animal. There are some animals that can eat the lowest quality, worst food and not get affected. They can live, they're 16, 17, 18 year old.
I spend the way dogs are supposed to live, the way they used to live until the advent of modern practices like feeding up inadequate dog food, which is processed food. I mean, I always ask people to go back to human literature because studies are just now being done in dogs, but they're very robust in people to know that the more processed food we eat, the greater our chance of cancer. So the next one is when my dog was like, I think he might've got the stemper injection.
That was it, no more. And I never got my dog hair jab. Maybe they did when I got them first, but I see now that they just constantly push that you jab them every year.
And my own studies of vaccines for humans, it's all a lie. And I just wonder what they're actually putting into the animals. Well, it's interesting because the vaccine recommendations for animals in the US have changed from annual to every three years.
And then you and I would both ask, do they really need it every three years? Neither one of us have given our animals any vaccines for times, decades. I mean, I do the rabies because by law that's required in the States every three years during the rabies shot. But the reality is that the antibodies may last a lot longer than that.
So this kind of vaccine question really is more of a question of immune function. Why do we give a vaccine? Ostensibly we give it because we want to boost the immune system so that we don't get infectious diseases. But in reality, every vaccine contains, majority of vaccine contain things that can affect and modulate and even harm the immune system.
So that we know is true for every vaccine. Will the vaccine protect an animal against say an outbreak of Stemper or Parvo? Maybe. Getting the vaccine is not equated to protection.
There are a lot of animals that don't react, don't respond to the vaccine. If you did blood titers, for example, and looked at the antibodies, it would not have generated protective antibodies. But antibodies are not the whole immune system.
So this is why I do not go into these details at all in the book, because it's not about the immune system. It's about the immune system's balance. Life and happiness and health and vaccines and food and everything is about balance and susceptibility.
The book is broken down into three parts. The first part is, there's two parts I call an SOS. SOS is the universal signal that there's an emergency, there's a problem.
The first SOS for me that's coming from the animals is they want us to know the true significance of symptoms. What is the SOS significance of symptoms? What do symptoms really mean? And the answer real briefly is that symptoms are clues. Symptoms are clues that things are out of balance.
That's it. We've treated them as things to get rid of. But that's a whole other discussion.
The second SOS, what are our animals trying to tell us that it's another SOS. And in this case, SOS stands for fine susceptibility. Susceptibility is the opposite of resilience.
We want our animals to be, we want ourselves to be as resilient as possible. But unfortunately, every vaccine, every bad food, every drug, it's going to increase susceptibility. So you've now taken an animal that's susceptible to things and given it vaccines.
Are the vaccines going to work? Not as well as lowering the susceptibility of that animal. They can do that a number of ways. And one of those ways you already mentioned, that is the food.
That may be the lowest hanging fruit and easiest way to do it. And is there a way, because I know that what they started doing then is, because, you know, sometimes people go on holiday and yeah, a lot of people take their animal with them if they're going by car or something. But if they're flying somewhere, they put it into the animal's home for the week or the two weeks.
They then insist on it being jabbed. And is there ways or documentation that you can prevent that? Because if your dog is healthy, you don't want to be, because I've seen dogs even getting epileptic fits and everything after. My brother's dog, it got some blood infection.
It had a painful death after getting vaccinated. So like you don't want to be doing that. Is there ways that you can actually, some documentation that you can get them to be minded without having to have them on whatever way it's done? Is it a vaccine card or something? I don't know because I don't do it myself.
Yeah. Yes. Yes.
And it depends on the place you're boarding. Most of the boarding places now will accept what are called blood titers, distemperin parvo. So they draw blood and that can show you that the dog doesn't need vaccines.
If you have that documentation, then you can also usually just find it with that. And you can also in some cases, my own clients and the members of the holistic actions community that we coach in these methods, they often go with a release for him. Either that they are going to hold harmless because they're insisting on it because they're afraid that they're going to get in trouble because our animals get sick.
The release is either for the cardian sign saying they hold the kennel harmless or my favorite is pregnant release in advance of you stay and have them, have them, the kennels on the release saying that they guarantee that they will pay for any costs of veterinary care needed from the vaccine that they require. And there are no, there are no kennels that will do that because they know what you just said that some animals will get very, very sick. Just like some kids get very, very sick after vaccination.
So it's not really from the vaccine. Like saying allergies are from pollens. Allergies can get triggered by pollens and it's based on the susceptibility of the individual.
And an interesting story is that my own journey into homeopathy started with my own allergies because back in the nineties, I was experimenting on myself. I was reading about homeopathy, just learned about it. I was experimenting with remedies on myself.
And at one point I took remedies repeatedly actually, because I had a bad shoulder. I had some joint problems and the joint problems went away. I said, gee, the body heals.
It's going to heal anyway. Maybe the homeopathy helps, maybe not. But I'm also somebody who has had a lifetime of bad allergies, seasonal allergies.
So from spring until winter, I had to be on Benadryl or back then Benadryl or any antihistamine to keep fluid and sneezing from disrupting, you know, continuously all day. I was just a very, very allergic. At that time, after taking that remedy, I noticed that my allergies didn't emerge in March and April because what happened is I slipped on ice in the winter and I hurt myself.
And that's why I took the remedy. But spring came, no allergies. Summer came, no allergies.
By August, I think I had just realized that as a scientist, you realize that sometimes you have to look at factors other than what you were originally looking at. So I realized that the remedies that I took for my shoulder were actually helping my allergies. So even though I had stopped remedies, my body had rebalanced in such a way that I was less susceptible to the pollens.
That's why allergies did not emerge. I am a super, super, super allergic person with celiac disease, allergic to gluten. I'm allergic to cats and dogs and horses and yeah.
So yeah, I know. So being a vet was really the ideal profession, yeah? It was perfect. It was perfect.
I didn't learn about how bad the horse allergy was until I got locked up in the barn. If you work in the barns in the winter, they close them up so that there's no wind going through. And of course, that concentrates the allergens.
And I couldn't breathe. I mean, my throat, my lungs closed up and I had to be on drugs all the time that I was in a large animal rotation. That was about 10 years before I discovered that life is all about energy, not about what I was studying.
And what I was studying was fascinating and very, very, very important because we need that information to be able to know what to do as doctors. We don't need that information to know what to do as parents and individuals because we can base that on something called BEAM. BEAM is an acronym.
BEAM is right back there. It's Behavior, Energy, Appetite, and Mood. Those are all factors that you can see externally in your animal.
They don't need to go to the vet to know that they have a BEAM score of 7 or 8 or 9 or 5. What BEAM will let you know is that your animal is really doing internally. That goes along with any conventional diagnostics that you want to run. So, you know, as a scientist originally, I'm very, very diagnostically oriented.
I like to know not only about the BEAM, but also the health of the liver, the health of the kidneys, the health of the blood, the immune system, and all that is going to come from blood and urine tests and other diagnostic tests. You can get the best of both worlds by combining these factors of susceptibility, symptoms, and BEAM. And that's the last part of the book.
The last part of the book is all that holistic medical decision making and how to make a wise decision. When you see a cat or a dog and they've lost their appetite, you notice something up. I mean, usually people then they just bring it to the vet, but what should they be doing? First thing you do when you say lose their appetite, you know, there are four Ps that let us know.
The four Ps, they are red flags. The red flags are, is this persistent? Is this prominent? Is this problematic? Is this peculiar? So I'll ask you, is this loss of appetite for one meal? Is it a persistent like my dog doesn't want to eat anymore? Days and days and days. Yeah.
So you look, the first thing you do is look at the whole environment. Did you recently change the food? Is it food that your dog doesn't want to eat? Are they bored? Are they acting hungry? They'll look at the food, they sniff it, they take a bite and they spit it out and they walk away. That's a way, but their BEAM is fine.
That's a way different interpretation than of the dog or cat whose BEAM is very low and they're just lying around and they don't want to eat. And yes, the first thing you may want to do then, if their BEAM is dropped, go rule out anything that the vet can find. A lot of times in those situations, you go to the vet and they can't find anything to give you drugs, just in case there's an infection or just in case there's a surgery.
Then over time, things get better. Well, over time, body is designed to get better on its own without those drugs. So framework that we're following is the framework of the smartest doctor and veterinarian in the world, and that is Dr. Mother Nature.
And Dr. Mother Nature has ensured that all living beings are balanced and that there are clues when they're out of balance. Maybe your plants are tripling up because it's getting too much light or too little water. Maybe you've got a skin patch because you're getting too much of something or not enough of something else.
Those are things we're not going to see on blood work or x-rays or ultrasound or this kind of diagnostic test. But there are more and more veterinarians that are looking at the whole picture. You may go to the vet and they say, yeah, we should run all the tests and the tests all come back negative.
We're normal. And the veterinarian says, why don't you try this, you know, aloe vera or this special diet or, you know, support the body for a little while while it does its job. That's really, Roy, all that we're doing is we are here to support ourselves and our animals while we rebalance the way we are naturally intended to.
And what about a parasite cleanse? How often should you do that and what type? Because I presumed there's good and bad ones. Are there? I'm sorry that we didn't do this, but all of the questions that I get asked, I often need to reframe them before I can answer them. Because, for example, the parasite question is all about the, our germs, our parasites, are these things bad? And that is the basis of the germ theory, which governs medicine, germ theory, pluripotent store.
Germs cause disease. Parasites cause disease. Now, they can only cause disease if you are susceptible to them.
And the way we know that we are susceptible or not is based on our signs of susceptibility. So, when Louis Pasteur was doing his studies at around the same time, there was a group of scientists doing studies on what they called the terrain. It's in the inner terrain, it's in the inner environment, the inner garden.
There's a book, my bookshelf, called Tending Adam's Garden by an immunologist who saw that the terrain was more important than the germ. So, the answer is that it depends, Roy, if you want to do a cleanse routinely a couple of times a year, that's great. Just make sure whatever you do, it's not potentially harmful to the body.
That's a little bit of behavior in mind that we give drugs at a particular dose because at a higher dose, they may kill you or cause side effects. Then maybe those drugs are potentially dangerous and we need to think about things a little differently. And the same goes true for parasite cleanses.
So, it depends on what you're using. I have a friend named Anthony William, been a friend and client for, gosh, 30 years, for a long time. But he teaches a method of cleanses and he's got a green juice and a parasite juice and a heavy metal detox smoothie juice.
And those cleanses are all safe for people and for animals. So, I would say that, yeah, if you're using those kinds of cleanses, then you can do them as often as you want. I routinely say there are no routines.
It depends on the individual. What we're talking about, Roy, is called scientific wellness. Scientific wellness is a conventional paradigm.
That was felt by an immunologist named Dr. Leroy Hood, who also started the Institute of Systems Biology. Systems biology is understanding that all of the parts of the body work together in a system. He called scientific wellness personalized, proactive, and preventative, predictive, and participatory.
So, when we are practicing scientific wellness, we're not practicing conventional medicine. We're practicing what we're talking about right now. And the reason is that, by definition, conventional medicine can't be personalized.
What can be determined as close as we get is based on symptoms, which is how we can actually truly personalize. But we used to think that as soon as we knew the genetic code, that we could personalize medicine. But we learned that that's not the case because the genes only are about 10% of the whole bigger picture.
It's really more about what turns the genes on or off. And that, my friend, is what your susceptibility is going to determine. In modern science now, they call it epigenetics.
All of the things outside of the genes, your diet, your exercise, your lifestyle, your happiness quota, all those things are going to determine how much effect your genes are going to have. I have no idea if this even answered your question about the parasite. No, it did.
No, it was fascinating. This is one that I'm sure there's a lot of cases. Basically, my ex-wife, so I have equal custody of my child, and they've got a dog.
They got a dog from an animal's home. And the dog was actually apparently tied in the forest for they don't know how long. Its neck was all marked.
And you can see the dog was traumatized so much. It lost its bark. It was the first dog that I saw that didn't bark.
And what a beautiful dog. So now it's got so much love that they just give it so much love. And sometimes the dog is here, and it's terrified, afraid to come in the door.
And then if you're going out for a walk, it's afraid to go from the back. So it'll sit on the mat and is afraid. And you kind of have to drag it.
And eventually, after a couple of days, it starts kind of moving a little bit. But the thing is, with a human, when a human has been tortured, traumatized, they can go to a therapist, but a dog can't. So how do people navigate that one? Oh, what a great question.
It's funny you say that. When I was meditating this morning, I was thinking about that. So you're asking at the nail on the head.
Trauma, life or childhood or other traumas, they bond to the energy, to us. We call them our deep grooves that we live by. We have these grooves that are informed by the traumas.
We go to therapy to gently tease out trauma so that usually over the course of months, years, a lifetime, we're able to gradually become less anxious, less depressed, less traumatized the way that poor dog was. There really is no method in conventional veterinary medicine for doing that. What you can do, however, is you can maximize that dog's joy.
Because as you maximize their joy and their happiness, and that's what they call the happiness protocol, as you do that, you're upgrading their mitochondria, you're helping break the bonds of those old traumas. And over time, that dog that you just described, it's going to go for a walk. It's going to be willing to go on the road where those scary cars come by.
And I know that to be true because I adopted one of those dogs. I adopted one of those dogs and we spent a year, all that we did was focusing on her joys. And now when she came, she couldn't walk through the door.
She couldn't get in the car. She couldn't do the stairs. She was scared of everything.
And rightfully so, before 12 weeks of age, this dog had been so, so traumatized. But after a year, she's become the most joyful, happy dog that I've ever seen. And that's because we spent a year just focusing on nurturing that happiness and that joy.
It's very, very, very easy with dogs, right? Their list of what they love to do is not that long. They either love to, and maybe all of them, eat, play, or love. You know, not eat, pray, love, but eat, play, love.
Some dogs just get their happiness back from whatever treat you give them. And if you do it every two hours for a couple of days, you can raise their beam and decrease their fear, their anxieties, their traumas. And the nice thing that we've seen is that it also helps physiologically.
I'll give you a good example. Again, my own cat, and I'm using all my own animals because they're well documented. She had a blood count of 14.
Normal blood count is around 35, 40 in a cat and dog, actually in a person as well. So 14 is life-threatening. Instead of putting on the steroids and the drugs and all things that, you know, giving her transfusion, which would have been the first move, we just focus on maximizing her fresh food, her love, her joy, her happiness.
Within two weeks, her body corrected itself. Blood count, and I just looked yesterday, came back up to 33. And did I mention that she also had leukemia at the same time, that her blood was showing 47,000 lymphocytes, so white blood counts.
So the internist evaluated her and said, oh, I think she may have leukemia, and that's why she has low blood count. But in reality, she was out of balance. And by maximizing her happiness and joy, within two weeks, her body was able to rebalance.
And if that's the kind of thing we are not taught about, that's cool, that that can happen. And actually, I'm just, today, right this minute, right after we get off the phone, I'm going back to those results, trying to start sharing the before and after of this approach. This is the approach that we teach in Holistic Actions, and when we talk about how we connect, talk further about Holistic Actions as well.
What I always loved about my dogs is, you know, if you go out for two hours, or whenever you come back, they're so excited to see you. And I said, if I, if I get a relationship with a woman that reacts like that, and I'm still waiting to find something like that. Yeah, yeah, I know what you mean, but every dog is gonna, you know, and most animals are going to be in the moment.
They're going to be loving you now, and when you come back. So yeah, even if you're gone for a minute, they come back the way a tail's wagging, and they're just overjoyed to see you. What about people that have to work, and they're leaving their dog or cat in the house? I think cats are a bit more creative, but they're leaving them in the house for maybe 10 to 12 hours, you know, they might be doing 10 hour days, and they commute and everything.
Is there anything they can do to make it better? For sure, I mean, that's, that's one of the, the one of the, the book is called the Conscious Compassionate Communication Method. So what you're referring to is a conscious, compassionate way of caring for that, that dog, or that cat, or other animal that's all alone for all day. And the best thing you can do is, you know, if they love to play, then maybe see if you have a neighbor or friend that they can play with their dog, or they're at them when you're at work, or bring them to a doggy daycare.
There's now tons and tons of day, my dog right now is at daycare, so I can have this conversation with you and not play with her all day, which is actually all that I want to do. I just want to be playing with my dog outside in the sun all day. And that is because that's what Mother Nature wants us to be doing.
She wants us to be outside, maybe not playing, but firing and doing something on a productive land. And we're doing that. We're doing it.
And just like Eckhart Tolle, I mean, a lot of people would have heard of him and the awakening thing. You might just kind of tell us a little bit about that, what it entails. Well, it kind of goes back to what we were just talking about, that, you know, the animals are in the moment.
And they're in the moment because they don't have a mind-made sense of self, of ego, of worry about what might have been done, or what happened in the past, or what might happen in the future, or what your options are. These are the things that Eckhart is trying to reframe, show us that by being in the moment, like our animals, and he uses the animals as examples all the time, animals and nature. So we actually are teaching the same framework, just from two different directions.
You know, mine is from the veterinary direction, his is from the more psychological and awakening direction. But the reality is that the more we connect with our animals, the faster we can walk through that door to awakening and happiness. Because our animals are already there if we let them be there.
With your experience, because I think things are changing over, compared to maybe 30 years ago, you know, like somebody studied to be a doctor and they just took to that veterinarian. And now people are more open to looking at different things and just looking at alternatives. Are you seeing more people open to this than I have veterinarians? Oh, huge, huge, huge changes.
Yeah. The reason is just what you said, that we used to be used to our dogs and cats living to 16, 18, 20, 25 or beyond for cat, not for many dogs, but a few dogs. And that life has gotten less and less and less.
Now a big dog in the U.S. at least is old by the time they're 8, 9, 10. And that used to be upper middle age. Nowadays, if we bring a 12 year old cat to the vet and they've got signs of kidney failure, it's not unusual to hear, well, it's an old cat, just put him to sleep.
When the reality is that a cat at 12 is a middle age, that a 24 year old cat is a common thing to see if they've not been intervened with too much. And if there is a way to get the best of both worlds, to use all modern diagnostic and all the information available while optimizing and maximizing health span, because what's happening in human beings is we're getting all this information, but we're ignoring the awakening of the love and the joy part and the quality of life part. So what's happening is our lifespans are going up, but our health spans are going down.
I think right now the stats are about 15 years gap between lifespan and health span in people. Health span is, are the years you're alive when you're in good shape and happy and healthy. Just finally, like, I mean, obviously you're a qualified veterinarian, you've done the book, so people can get the book.
But do you do, like if somebody has an issue with their dog, did you actually do calls for international things like that, that they can reach out? I actually do, yeah. We've got a, I, my own personal private clients are indeed around the world, but they're also all part of the Holistic Actions online platform, because when you join the platform for a much, much smaller amount of money than going to, you know, a veterinarian would cost, you can learn about all things that you can do on your own. It makes better visits happier, more joyful, more pleasant, and cost way less money.
So you can actually end up having more veterinary visits where your vet says, oh, your dog is doing great, everything looks great, versus, you know, going in that $1,000, $2,000, or like we just spent almost $20,000 on conventional care on the cat that almost died. That blood count of 14, by the way, was two weeks, one week, no, two weeks after discharge from the hospital. So there's that disconnect that we're trying to reconnect online.
So this year at Holistic Actions, the start of the year, all of January was spent talking about how to get the best to both worlds. And then we moved on to what we mean by, you know, the roadmap for how to do that. And then we're breaking it down into, you know, heart diseases and lung diseases and liver and kidney, but we're reframing everything in terms of this different paradigm, this different way of looking at health and life.
It's really not different, it is just the way it is, because energy is the source of life. Beautiful. Listen, Jeff, thoroughly enjoyed it.
You might let the listeners know where they can find you. Sure. What I would love every listener to do is we have a free course called the one-on-one course that kind of gets you grounded in the basics of feeding and exercise, you know, all these things that we've talked about.
Holisticactions.com. So H-O-L-I-S-T-I-C-A-C-T-I-O-N-S.com. And you'll see everything right there. And what you'll see at this moment, I'm not sure when this episode is going to drop, but in a couple of days, we're opening up my mentoring membership. So that's, that is the VIP membership where I work one-on-one with people that if they want to learn, they have all the resources, but they also have guidance, direct guidance.
Okay. Yeah. Well, we're recording this on the 18th of June.
I get it out in a few days because I have a love for animals and I see you do as well. So I'd make sure all the links are going to be in the show notes on the audio and the video. That's awesome.
Well, if it's going to be out in a few days, we'll talk about the VIP launch. Thanks. Yeah.
So that's all for the meditation podcast. You'll find all our episodes on meditationpodcast.org. You'll find everything about me and all my podcasts. And I've got other podcasters as well, because I've got a sponsorship.
We've got over 1.3 million currently monthly downloads. So if people are interested in dynamic ads, just reach out to me. You'll find it, scan the QR code, go to roycoughlan.com. If you're looking for virtual assistance, go to va.world. I'm sure to give us a thumbs up, five star rating, maybe share with three friends.
I'm going to check out Jeff's book because you know, by listening to him, he's making a difference. And by actually giving a nice review, it does the same. The algorithms show it to more people, which in turn can help more animals and make the world a better place.
Until next week, take care.
