In this special Where Are They Now? episode of the WHEN Stories Podcast, Wendy Babcock catches up with former WHEN Stories speaker Paquita Reddish to explore the extraordinary growth that followed her decision to share her story.
When Wendy first met Paquita, she was quiet, reserved, and still navigating a major transition in her life. But something was already changing.
Then came WHEN Stories.
Paquita knew there was more of her story she needed to tell. She also knew that telling it meant going deeper, not to focus on the trauma she had experienced, but to show other women what it looked like to move through it and choose themselves.
Her final words on the WHEN Stories stage were:
“And I am ready.”
When she stepped forward and said them, Paquita describes feeling as though a door had been kicked open.
And apparently... it had.
Since stepping off the stage, Paquita has:
• Spoken at events including Black Girl Fest in Milwaukee, where organizers used clips from her WHEN Story to promote her appearance.
• Been invited back for a second year as a coach for Yo Quiero Dinero, helping other women learn to embody and share their stories.
• Launched her own podcast, Boss Chick Testimonies, with interviews already booking months in advance.
• Continued building her coaching business, The Divine Solutionist, helping purpose-driven women and entrepreneurs move from ideas into action.
• Stepped into nonprofit leadership as Executive Director of the BLM Legacy Foundation and Marketing & Public Relations Director for the Anchor Her Glow Foundation.
• Written her solo book, Anointed Through the Ashes, expanding the story she could only begin to tell in her 20-minute WHEN Story.
• Continued developing her Dominion Strategy, designed to help purpose-driven entrepreneurs align their purpose, focus, and execution.
But perhaps the biggest transformation is Paquita herself.
She says her confidence went “through the roof” after WHEN Stories because she realized:
I can do this. I can speak. I can share my story.
And other women are listening.
Paquita now regularly hears from women who tell her they see themselves in her story, her book, and even the WHEN Stories Legacy Books she continues to share.
In this conversation, Wendy and Paquita also talk about something so many women do without realizing it: minimizing what we've accomplished.
I'm trying.
I'm just...
I should be doing more.
Paquita is learning to replace that language with something much more powerful:
I'm doing it.
Whether you're sitting on a story, rebuilding after a difficult chapter, starting a business, pursuing a stage, or wondering if you've somehow missed your moment, Paquita leaves us with a beautiful reminder:
It doesn't matter how long it takes to reach your goals.
Just keep going.
Because sometimes your life doesn't unfold according to the timeline you imagined.
