Erica Kelley is a gifted storyteller. She does her research and delivers a well-balanced tale, episode after episode. And her voice! It’s grits and molasses, with a dash of down-home wit and a touch of Tennessee whiskey. Delicious! She covers stories that might or might not be well-known. If you think you already know the story, it’s still well worth a listen — because, I promise you, you’ve never heard it told like this!

Absolutely love this podcast! Always extremely well written, engaging, and well researched! The episode ( Part 1) on the Never ending Staircase Murder of Kathleen Peterson is Top Notch! I have seen both documentaries on the trial of Michael Peterson and this Podcast provided additional details those two documentaries missed. Looking forward to Part 2. Keep up the great work!!! You rock!!!!

Honestly cannot believe it took me so long to find Southern Fried True Crime! I’ve been a true crime lover for many years. So thankful for all the hard work that goes into this one. Erica is awesome and the way cases are researched and presented is top notch.

My go to podcast to relax and be calmed.

Heat the banjo music. Like the narration and it is a pretty good podcast overall.

I have been listening to SFTC for years now! Erica and her team do an amazing job of presenting ALL the facts.. telling the victims stories with respect and grace..her soulful southern voice brings such gentility and sass to her story telling- the way only southern women can do.

I really like this show. It’s not without its quirks: there are errors in the editing where you hear both takes of a phrase or sentence that was re-recorded, and the script sometimes repeats itself more or less verbatim at different points of the episode. Those peculiarities notwithstanding, it’s well researched and delivered in an almost soothing tone. Very interesting look at crime that goes beyond the best known cases thanks to its focus on a specific region.

Please leave politics out of your commentary. I do enjoy your podcast (and love your southern accent) but admonishing people politically is unnecessary and inappropriate. I’m listening to these years after they were recorded and some of your commentary, though it aligned with the information being (prematurely or even mistakenly) disseminated at the time, isn’t exactly accurate in hindsight. There’s enough political enmity spreading in this country. Please stick to crime podcasting and leave your after-podcast political commentary out of it.

If you love true crime and not the mindless chitchat, this is the show for you! Erica has a soft southern voice that makes that horror just slide into your cerebellum. She is insightful, well researched, and definitely shows a kindness towards the victims that I truly appreciate. Lend her your ear and you won't be disappointed!

I listen to several weekly podcasts & without a doubt SFTC is the best! I love that Erica gives background information on the area the crime happened as well as the people involved. It helps give understanding to why such crimes may have happened. You can tell that all involved with putting the story together really care about getting the truth out there. While some do not want to hear about the suspects past I truly enjoy it. I like to try to see if I can pick up on something that may have triggered this person to become who they are. For example possible damage to the frontal lob or were they abused as a child.

I love this podcast but Erika Kelley needs to consider how often she laments that women will not be able to become mothers or grandmothers. Not every woman is destined to procreate and please check this, especially in your closings.

My favorite true crime podcast! I love Erica’s voice, it is so calming. I also love the respect she shows for the victims and their families. I’m find many true crime podcasts to be exploitative but not SFTC!

I love that Erica always shares the facts! She is so compassionate and caring in her commentary. She never exploits the victims in any way. A true professional!!

Erica does an amazing job telling these stories. She does thoughtful research and presents them from different angles and theories.

I love the accent, the story telling, & the way she takes people to task. Well researched and fact driven. An absolute favorite.

I really love how thorough the research is on its case and on its setting in place and time. Erica Kelley pulls no punches when she sees injustice in investigations or trials. But she is also very attentive to telling a well-rounded story that respects victims and survivors. A really great podcast about crime in the contemporary and historical South.

Quickly became my favorite podcast! I’m bummed that I caught up and can’t binge it anymore!

Love this podcast, but the Michael Petersen episode ended so abruptly without any resolution. Very strange, I’ve never experienced that with this channel before
