Listener Reviews

Best true crime podcast ever
This is the podcast that got me hooked on listening to true crime stories, the one I keep coming back to, and the one by which I measure all others.Erica Kelley consistently delivers:*Thorough, intelligent storytelling- Don’t leave your brain behind when you listen to her episodes. The story will be well-told and clear, but the full story will be there. Erica is fascinated with WHY people do terrible crimes. So you will hear background, locale information, and quotes from primary and secondary sources. If you truly listen to understand, you will be satisfied. *Unmatched delivery- No one tells a tale like Erica. She proves Winston Churchill’s claim, “The most beautiful voice in the world is that of an educated Southern woman.” She understands pacing, tone, and voice. As a heating impaired person, my preference is for a well-spoken single narrator with minimal background moise. That’s what I get with SFTC. *Gumption- Erica doesn’t suffer fools (or jerks) gladly. She is sympathetic to victims of all kinds, and she’s open about voicing her opinions in addition to the full facts. If dhe throws in a cussword or some sacrcasm, rest assured that it was justified. Her podcast is the most honest one I listen to. Please do yourself the favor of subscribing to Southern Fried True Crime. We’d love to have you visit and then come back to stay.
This is the podcast equivalent of comfort food!
I feel that with Erica’s podcast, I get a lot of facts that are left out in other news or true crime sources. I saw a few reviews that mentioned they don’t like it because Erica gives her opinion or sometimes comes off as biased. I have to disagree because she presents facts regardless of who those facts support. If she states her opinion, no big deal. I’m a big girl and can form one of my own. Erica’s voice is very soothing and I’ll admit I’ve fallen asleep to this podcast more than once. Listening to SFTC is like simultaneously listening to a new outlet and your best friend telling you about something that just happened in the next town over. Thank you guys for a fantastic show!
One of my top 3 favorite podcasts!
It literally makes my day when Erica drops a new episode of Southern Fried True Crime! There are many aspects that make this podcast great, but the best part is it’s wonderful host, Erica Kelley. Erica always takes extra care to show the utmost respect to the victims in her stories and her research is always top notch. My absolute favorite thing about Erica, though, has to be her voice. It is like butter. I have lost count on how many times Erica’s voice has lulled me to sleep while listening to this podcast. If you have any interest in True Crime, please look past all the negative reviews, and give Erica and SFTC a chance! I don’t think you will regret it. As a matter of fact, I think you will find yourself hooked, like me. Thank you, Erica, for all your hard work putting these top quality podcast episode together. You are truly appreciated by me, your fellow southern gal, and so many others! Please keep doing what you do! ❤️❤️❤️Much love!Kasey Duncan
Interesting Content
I discovered this podcast last fall and am current with it now. Erica and her team do a fantastic job researching the cases, including the backgrounds of the perpetrators. Knowing that someone’s background may have led to killing should help us all realize that drug abuse, alcohol abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and neglect can, and often do, have major repercussions on one’s life. It doesn’t excuse the perpetrator, but will perhaps help us all realize that we need to take better care of one another.
Best true crime podcast!
Love the way Erica and team paint the picture of the scene, the environment, the victim, and the perpetrator.
Can’t get enough
I’ve absolutely loved this podcast from the second I heard Erica’s voice. This Southern California girl cannot get enough. I’ve learned so much, and knowing the why, is why I’m here.
Best, most thorough true crime podcast available
Erika’s soothing voice, in and of itself, is enough the draw you in. The comprehensive research and narrative of the show keeps you coming back. Erika brings to each story full appreciation and respect for all victims, first and foremost. As a doctor of psychology, I truly appreciate Erika’s review of murderer(s) background(s). Understanding motive/history is different from justifying - Erika provides enough information to illustrate possible reasons/environmental conditions why someone chose to commit a crime. Again, while being completely respectful to the victim and victim’s family. In fact, I challenge anyone to find a true crime podcaster who is more empathetic to victims. Erika is a gem. The FB group is my favorite space online and feels like family. I’ll stick with her as long as this path continues.
