Every Podpage site uses Podpage's built-in audio player by default. It loads quickly, matches your site's colors (including dark mode), and does things an embedded host player can't.
What your listeners get
- Clickable timestamps. Timestamps in your show notes, chapters and transcripts become links that play the episode from that moment. Timestamps in chapters and transcripts are available on Pro and above. See Clickable timestamps, chapters, and transcripts.
- Chapters. If your episode has chapters, listeners see the current chapter in the player and can open the full list or use the previous and next chapter buttons. Available on Pro and above.
- Resume. Listeners who come back to an episode start from where they stopped, on the same device.
- Lock-screen and headphone controls. On supported phones and browsers, listeners can play, pause, skip and change chapter from the lock screen or their headphones.
- Keyboard shortcuts. On a computer, press k to play or pause, j and l to skip back or forward 15 seconds, m to mute, and [ and ] to change chapter.
Your audio still comes from your podcast host, so your host still counts every play. If your feed uses a stats service such as Podtrac, OP3 or Chartable, Podpage keeps it in the audio link, so plays on your website still go through it.
How to turn it on or off
- In your dashboard, go to Settings → Media Player.
- Turn Use Podpage's Audio Player on or off.
- Click Save.
With it off, your website shows your podcast host's own player instead. Features that depend on the Podpage player, such as clickable timestamps and chapters, won't be available.
Add a download button
On the same page, turn on Show Download Button on Audio Player to let listeners save an episode straight from the player. It only works with the Podpage player.
With the Podpage player on, the Play Episode buttons on your homepage and at the top of episode pages start the episode right away and scroll the player into view. Some browsers only allow sound to start after a tap on the page itself — there, the player is ready and in view, one tap from playing.
