Prince Harry has made significant lifestyle changes since marrying Meghan Markle, one of which was giving up his passion for hunting. Known for his love of blood sports, Harry once posed with a water buffalo he had hunted in 2005. However, in 2020, he reportedly made the choice to sell a pair of bespoke hunting rifles valued at around £50,000. The private sale was allegedly made to a buyer who appreciated the guns for their craftsmanship rather than their royal connection. “He bought them because he wanted them, not because they belonged to Harry, but he was quite chuffed when he found out,” a friend of the buyer shared with The Sun, adding, “They are beautiful examples and he’s very pleased with them but he’s not the sort of person who wants to boast about the royal connection.”

00:00:03.200 --> 00:00:14.480
Callaroga Shark Media. Hello and welcome to Palace Intrigue. I
2
00:00:14.519 --> 00:00:18.280
am your host, Mark Francis, Prince. Harry has made significant
3
00:00:18.359 --> 00:00:22.039
lifestyle changes since Mary Megan Markle, one of which was
4
00:00:22.039 --> 00:00:24.399
giving up his passion for hunting. Known for his love
5
00:00:24.440 --> 00:00:27.000
of blood sports, Harry once posed to with a water
6
00:00:27.079 --> 00:00:30.280
buffalo he had hunted in two thousand and five. However,
7
00:00:30.359 --> 00:00:32.920
in twenty twenty, he reportedly made the choice to sell
8
00:00:32.920 --> 00:00:36.320
a pair of bespoke hunting rifles valued at around fifty
9
00:00:36.399 --> 00:00:40.119
thousand pounds. The private sale was allegedly made to a
10
00:00:40.159 --> 00:00:43.119
buyer who appreciated the guns for their craftsmanship rather than
11
00:00:43.119 --> 00:00:46.439
their royal connection. He bought them because he wanted them,
12
00:00:46.479 --> 00:00:48.520
not because they belonged to Harry. But he was quite
13
00:00:48.600 --> 00:00:51.119
chuffed when he found out. A friend of the buyer
14
00:00:51.240 --> 00:00:54.159
shared with the son, adding they are beautiful examples and
15
00:00:54.200 --> 00:00:56.000
he's very pleased with them, but he's not the sort
16
00:00:56.039 --> 00:00:58.280
of person who wants to boast about the royal connection.
17
00:00:59.359 --> 00:01:01.840
In an interview with Radio Times in April twenty twenty,
18
00:01:02.079 --> 00:01:05.879
British primatologist doctor Jane Goodall, a friend of Harry and Meghan,
19
00:01:06.400 --> 00:01:08.760
mentioned that she believed Harry had given up hunting for
20
00:01:08.840 --> 00:01:11.680
good under Meghan's influence. When asked if Harry and his
21
00:01:11.719 --> 00:01:15.879
brother William were conservation advocates, doctor Goodall responded, yes, except
22
00:01:15.920 --> 00:01:18.560
they hunt and shoot. But I think Harry will stop
23
00:01:18.680 --> 00:01:21.439
because Meghan doesn't like hunting, so I suspect that is
24
00:01:21.480 --> 00:01:24.760
over for him. She also remarked on Harry's dedication to
25
00:01:24.840 --> 00:01:28.599
conservation despite his shifting circumstances, adding I don't know how
26
00:01:28.640 --> 00:01:31.079
his career is going to map out, but yes, I've
27
00:01:31.120 --> 00:01:33.079
been in touch, though I think he's finding life a
28
00:01:33.079 --> 00:01:36.680
bit challenging just now. The shift came before Harry and
29
00:01:36.680 --> 00:01:39.599
Meghan's relocation to North America, first to Canada and THENTO
30
00:01:39.640 --> 00:01:43.239
Los Angeles. As their lives have continued to change, Harry's
31
00:01:43.239 --> 00:01:47.400
commitment to conservation appears to endure, albeit with adaptations reflecting
32
00:01:47.400 --> 00:01:50.959
his new life with Meghan. In Spare, Prince Harry delved
33
00:01:51.000 --> 00:01:54.920
into the complexities of royal family dynamics and record an
34
00:01:55.000 --> 00:01:58.560
unusual Christmas gift from his great aunt, Princess Margaret, whom
35
00:01:58.560 --> 00:02:02.040
he referred to as Aunt Margo, recalling a family Christmas
36
00:02:02.079 --> 00:02:04.319
at Sandringham where the royals gathered to exchange gifts on
37
00:02:04.400 --> 00:02:08.080
Christmas Eve, Harry chose the smallest present in his stack,
38
00:02:08.560 --> 00:02:11.719
a package labeled from Aunt Margo. When he opened it,
39
00:02:11.719 --> 00:02:14.879
he found a biro pen. Surprised, he looked over and said,
40
00:02:15.199 --> 00:02:19.120
thank you, Aunt Margo. She remarked on its supposed significance,
41
00:02:19.240 --> 00:02:22.240
but Harry remembers it as a rather chilly gesture, thinking
42
00:02:22.759 --> 00:02:26.919
that is cold blooded. The Duke reflected on their sparse relationship,
43
00:02:26.960 --> 00:02:29.439
revealing he barely knew Margaret despite the twelve and a
44
00:02:29.479 --> 00:02:32.439
half percent of DNA they shared. Describing her impact on
45
00:02:32.479 --> 00:02:35.400
family gatherings, he noted she could kill a house plant
46
00:02:35.479 --> 00:02:39.439
with one scowl. Harry saw parallels between their roles and
47
00:02:39.520 --> 00:02:42.680
spares and the royal family, his to William and Margaret's
48
00:02:42.719 --> 00:02:46.199
to Queen Elizabeth. He observed the similarities in sibling rivalry
49
00:02:46.199 --> 00:02:49.840
and competition, saying her relationship with Granny wasn't an exact
50
00:02:49.919 --> 00:02:53.280
analog of mine with Willie, but pretty close. This poignant
51
00:02:53.280 --> 00:02:57.439
comparison highlighted the pressure and complexities both spares faced within
52
00:02:57.479 --> 00:03:02.319
the monarch's rigid hierarchy. Meghan Michaels, pensed for wearing beige
53
00:03:02.360 --> 00:03:04.800
and neutral tones, has been well noted, a choice. She
54
00:03:04.840 --> 00:03:07.919
explained in her Netflix docuseries as a way to avoid
55
00:03:07.960 --> 00:03:12.199
overshadowing Queen Elizabeth II, who was known for her colorful attire. However,
56
00:03:12.639 --> 00:03:15.199
Meghan has frequently stepped out in bold red looks, the
57
00:03:15.240 --> 00:03:18.000
color she returns to time and again for its powerful impact.
58
00:03:18.759 --> 00:03:21.240
According to stylist Kate Jones from the House of Color,
59
00:03:21.560 --> 00:03:24.840
red represents power, opulence, passion, and love. It's an eye
60
00:03:24.840 --> 00:03:28.400
catching choice that communicates confidence and strength, traits that Meghan
61
00:03:28.439 --> 00:03:32.319
seems keen to emphasize. Red also suits every skin tone,
62
00:03:32.360 --> 00:03:35.159
says Joan, making it an ideal shade for anyone willing
63
00:03:35.199 --> 00:03:39.840
to take the spotlight from glamorous gowns two perfectly coordinated accessories.
64
00:03:39.919 --> 00:03:43.599
Meghan has embraced red for various high profile events. Notable
65
00:03:43.639 --> 00:03:47.240
appearances include a scarlet Carolina Herrera gown at a Los
66
00:03:47.240 --> 00:03:51.120
Angeles charity gala, a striking Sophia dress at twenty twenty
67
00:03:51.159 --> 00:03:54.319
Mount Batten Festival of Music, and a red ensemble at
68
00:03:54.360 --> 00:03:56.759
New York's Salute to Freedom gala in twenty twenty one.
69
00:03:56.960 --> 00:03:59.520
Meghan's love for red dates back even further. She was
70
00:03:59.560 --> 00:04:01.280
seen in The Hugh as early as two thousand and
71
00:04:01.280 --> 00:04:04.919
six on Deal or No Deal in contrast to her
72
00:04:05.039 --> 00:04:08.719
understated colour choices. While in the UK, Meghan's frequent use
73
00:04:08.759 --> 00:04:12.759
of rad now seems to underscore her independence and confidence. Red,
74
00:04:12.759 --> 00:04:14.919
a color also favored by the late Queen for its
75
00:04:15.000 --> 00:04:18.199
visibility in crowds, appears to carry an empowering message that
76
00:04:18.240 --> 00:04:22.199
resonates with Meghan's public image today more pallace in just
77
00:04:22.240 --> 00:04:29.560
a moment. Queen Camilla's decision to modernize royal traditions included
78
00:04:29.639 --> 00:04:33.160
the introduction of Queen's Companions, replacing the centuries old title
79
00:04:33.199 --> 00:04:36.279
of Ladies in Waiting. While their roles are largely similar,
80
00:04:36.560 --> 00:04:39.519
the Companions perform fewer intimate duties and have a more
81
00:04:39.519 --> 00:04:44.319
discreete ceremonial focus. One of their more peculiar responsibilities ensuring
82
00:04:44.360 --> 00:04:47.920
the exclusivity of lavatories for the Queen during royal visits,
83
00:04:48.279 --> 00:04:51.720
a task Lady Catherine Brooke, one of the six Companions,
84
00:04:52.040 --> 00:04:56.720
handles with expertise and poise. Lady Catherine, affectionately known as Kate,
85
00:04:56.759 --> 00:05:00.160
brings a wealth of aristocratic experience to her role as
86
00:05:00.199 --> 00:05:03.120
the daughter of Lady Susan Hussey, who served as Queen Elizabeth,
87
00:05:03.120 --> 00:05:06.920
the Second's most senior Lady in Waiting for over sixty years,
88
00:05:07.240 --> 00:05:10.639
Kate has a first hand education in royal protocol. Her
89
00:05:10.680 --> 00:05:14.240
late father, Baron Marmaduke Hussey, also had deep ties to
90
00:05:14.279 --> 00:05:16.759
the royal family as chairman of the BBC and a
91
00:05:16.759 --> 00:05:20.680
trusted figure in royal circles. Married to Sir Francis Brook,
92
00:05:20.720 --> 00:05:24.600
a baronet and longtime royal representative of Ascot, Lady Catherine's
93
00:05:24.600 --> 00:05:28.279
connections to the royal family are undeniable. Her mother's legacy
94
00:05:28.319 --> 00:05:31.360
as head of heads among the ladies in waiting undoubtedly
95
00:05:31.399 --> 00:05:34.399
shaped her approach to her new role, ensuring she upholds
96
00:05:34.399 --> 00:05:38.720
the intricate etiquette required in royal service. The Queen's companions,
97
00:05:38.800 --> 00:05:41.759
or women of impeccable social standing married to landowners or
98
00:05:41.800 --> 00:05:45.720
titled figures, receive a modest stipend for their work, yet
99
00:05:45.759 --> 00:05:48.199
the true compensation lies in the honor and prestige of
100
00:05:48.319 --> 00:05:52.639
serving the Crown. Where the scouting laboratories, while managing ceremonial duties,
101
00:05:52.720 --> 00:05:57.279
their contributions perfectly enduring blend of tradition and modernity within
102
00:05:57.399 --> 00:06:02.360
the monarchy. The Queen revealed her unusual but nutritious snack
103
00:06:02.399 --> 00:06:05.480
of choice raw peas straight from the garden during a
104
00:06:05.480 --> 00:06:08.560
recent school visit and slow. The Queen said, I tell
105
00:06:08.600 --> 00:06:11.480
you what I really like, eating peas straight from the garden.
106
00:06:11.680 --> 00:06:13.680
If you take them straight from the pod, they are
107
00:06:13.720 --> 00:06:16.600
delicious and really sweet. I take all my grandchildren down
108
00:06:16.639 --> 00:06:19.959
to the garden and they spend hours and hours eating peas.
109
00:06:20.839 --> 00:06:23.800
Peas are indeed a powerhouse of nutrition, rich in vitamins,
110
00:06:23.879 --> 00:06:27.279
C and eat and zinc and antioxidants. According to the
111
00:06:27.279 --> 00:06:30.560
British Hard Foundation, eating peas, beans or pulses daily can
112
00:06:30.600 --> 00:06:34.879
even help reduce cholesterol levels. But raw peas aren't the
113
00:06:34.920 --> 00:06:38.360
only healthy habit in Queen Camilla's repertoire. Her son, food
114
00:06:38.399 --> 00:06:41.839
critic Tom Parker Bowls, has previously revealed her preference for
115
00:06:41.959 --> 00:06:46.480
protein packed breakfasts like scrambled or cheesy baked eggs. Whilst
116
00:06:46.480 --> 00:06:49.600
he's not opting for eggs, porridge with honey is a favorite.
117
00:06:49.839 --> 00:06:52.879
Tom also noted that her love for traditional British fair
118
00:06:53.439 --> 00:06:58.360
extends to dishes like chicken casseroles, locally sourced steaks, cottage pie,
119
00:06:58.439 --> 00:07:02.360
baked salmon, and roast chicken. For lunch, Camilla reportedly favors
120
00:07:02.399 --> 00:07:05.639
lighter meals such as fish, salads, almonds and avocados, a
121
00:07:05.759 --> 00:07:09.800
choice she's encouraged King Charles to adopt as for beverages.
122
00:07:09.879 --> 00:07:12.959
The Queen Consort has long enjoyed red wine, a tradition
123
00:07:13.079 --> 00:07:16.480
stemming from her child. Reflecting on her father's influence, she recalled,
124
00:07:16.959 --> 00:07:19.160
my father was in the wine business, so as children
125
00:07:19.279 --> 00:07:21.560
we used to take wine and water. I have drunk
126
00:07:21.600 --> 00:07:24.199
it ever since. He always said it was his medicine
127
00:07:24.199 --> 00:07:26.319
and it kept him going. He used to take two
128
00:07:26.360 --> 00:07:28.759
or three glasses a day. And there you have it.
