Reclaiming Yourself After Divorce, Emotional Abuse & Burnout
What if you are not actually lost after divorce, burnout, or emotional pain — but simply disconnected from yourself after years of surviving, people-pleasing, and putting everyone else first?
In this Bent Not Broken bonus coaching episode, Deborah expands on the powerful conversation with Laura Hoorweg and shares practical steps to help you heal, rebuild your confidence, reclaim your identity, and reconnect with your authentic self.
When life falls apart — whether through divorce, emotional abuse, burnout, heartbreak, or major life transitions — many women begin to feel emotionally lost, disconnected, and unsure how to start over. But healing and recovery begin the moment you stop abandoning yourself and start listening inward again.
This episode is designed for women navigating divorce recovery, emotional healing, burnout recovery, and the process of rebuilding life with greater clarity, purpose, and self-worth.
What You’ll Learn
- Why feeling “lost” is often a sign of emotional disconnection — not personal failure
- How burnout, emotional stress, and constant busyness disconnect you from your intuition
- Why slowing down is essential for healing, recovery, and emotional clarity

Deborah also reminds listeners that rebuilding your life after divorce or emotional pain does not happen overnight. Healing is a daily practice of learning to trust yourself, honor your needs, and reclaim the parts of yourself that may have been lost along the way.
If you are feeling emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or uncertain about your next chapter, this episode will encourage you to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and begin rebuilding your life with intention, healing, and purpose.

Welcome to another episode of Bent Not Broken. Heartbreak and trauma may feel like the end of your story, but here it's the beginning of a bold new chapter. I'm your host, Coach Deborah Griffiths, and this is the space where women rise, rebuild, and rediscover their purpose. Remember this truth. You are Bent Not Broken. Welcome back to Bent Not Broken. I've Coach Deborah with your bonus coaching episode, where we take the powerful insights from this week's conversation and turn them into real practical steps that you can start using today. After my conversation with Laura Herwig, one thing became very clear. So many of us aren't actually lost. We've just been disconnected from who we truly are. And if you've gone through divorce, burnout, or a major life transition, that disconnect can feel overwhelming. So today I want to walk you through three simple but powerful ways to reconnect with yourself and start trusting your inner voice again. Step one, create space and stop that noise. One of the biggest takeaways from this episode is this. And here's the truth: you can't hear your intuition if your life is always loud. So your first step is simple. Create space. And that might look like sitting in silence for five minutes a day, taking a walk without your phone, or maybe even turning off the constant distractions. You don't need an hour. You just need intention. Because clarity doesn't come from chaos, it comes from stillness. Step two, start listening to yourself, even if you don't trust it yet. Here's where most people get stuck. You have a feeling, you know, that nudge, a gut instinct. And what do we do? We question it. We dismiss it or we talk ourselves out of it. Laura said something powerful. You build trust in your intuition by acting on it. Not overthinking it, not analyzing it, but acting on it. Start small. If something feels right, lean into it. If something feels off, pause. The more you listen, the louder your inner voice becomes. Step three, rebuild your self-worth. This is a big one. Because at the root of so much disconnection is the belief that you're not good enough, not worthy enough, not important enough, or not deserving enough. And for so many women, this was conditioned into us from a very young age. We were taught to put everyone else first. But here's the shift. Reconnecting with yourself means choosing yourself. And that might look like saying no without guilt, prioritizing your needs, letting go of the need for approval. Because the truth is you cannot build a life you love if you don't believe you deserve it. Now, if you take nothing else from today, take this. You are not broken, you are not lost, you are simply being called back to yourself. And that starts with slowing down, listening in, and remembering who you were before the world told you who to be.
