✨ Remember: divorce may bend you, but it does not break you. You are stronger than you think, and your bold new chapter starts now. ✨
Welcome to another episode of Bent Not Broken. Heartbreak and trauma may feel like the end of your story, but here it's the beginning of a bold new chapter. I'm your host, Coach Deborah Griffiths, and this is the space where women rise, rebuild, and rediscover their purpose. Remember this truth. You are Bent, Not Broken. Hi everyone, welcome to this bonus coaching episode of Bent Not Broken. After my conversation with Marita Letower Tetter, I wanted to spend a few moments helping you apply what we discussed. Especially if you're navigating divorce, dating again, or trying to understand why past relationships didn't work. Because here's the truth, understanding personality types isn't about labeling people. It's about gaining clarity. And clarity is power. Step one, identify your core personality. Marita referenced the four classic personality types from Wired That Way. There's the sanguine who's outgoing, expressive, and thrives on connection. And then there's the choric, driven, decision, goal-oriented. And there's the melancholy, who's thoughtful, analytical, perfection seeking. And then lastly, there's the phlegmatic, calm, easygoing, harmony-driven. Here's your coaching question: Where did you lose yourself in your last relationship? Were you silencing your outgoing nature? Were you walking on eggshells because you're sensitive? Or how about overfunctioning because you're driven? And then lastly, avoiding conflict because you crave peace. Awareness is the beginning of reclaiming your voice. Step two, stop expecting one person to meet every need. One of the most powerful moments in the interview was when Marita said, It's unrealistic to expect one man to fulfill every emotional need. If you're divorced, this is especially important. Sometimes we grieve not just the person, but the fantasy. The Prince Charming, the Reserve, the he'll complete me story. But healthy women build healthy ecosystems. You need friends, purpose, joy, community, growth, spiritual grounding. A partner should enhance your life, not carry the entire emotional weight of it. Step three, when dating again, observe. Don't idealize. Instead of asking, do I like him? Start asking, how does he handle stress? Is he rigid or flexible? Is he emotionally expressive or reserved? How does he treat the wait staff? And what happens when plans change? Dating is data collection, not fantasy projection. And personality awareness helps you see patterns before you ignore red flags. Step four, rebuilding after divorce. If you feel bent but not broken right now, here's your practical step. Take the time this week to define what energizes me, what drains me, what do I emotionally need, and where can I meet that need in healthy ways. When you know who you are at your core, you stop chasing relationships to define you, and you start choosing relationships that align with you. Personality awareness is not about changing who you are. It's about honoring who you are and choosing relationships that respect that. You are not too much, you are not too emotional, you are not too driven, you are not too quiet. You are wired uniquely. And that wiring is not a flaw, it's information. And when you use that information wisely, you don't just survive relationships, you build better ones.
