From Financial Fog to Financial Confidence After Divorce
In this bonus coaching episode of Bent Not Broken, Deborah reflects on her conversation with Linda Grizzley, host of the Real Money Real Life Podcast, and helps listeners integrate the emotional and financial realities of life after divorce.
Divorce doesn’t just change relationships—it impacts confidence, self-trust, and our relationship with money. In this short coaching session, Deborah explains why financial avoidance is so common after divorce and why awareness—not fear—is the first step toward healing and empowerment.
You’ll hear a compassionate reframing of financial clarity, a simple action you can take this week to regain control, and a deeper look at the “Me Money” concept—how intentional spending can support self-worth and emotional recovery instead of guilt.
This episode is a reminder that rebuilding your financial life is part of rebuilding yourself—and you don’t have to do it alone.

✨ Remember: divorce may bend you, but it does not break you. You are stronger than you think, and your bold new chapter starts now. ✨
Welcome to another episode of Bent Not Broken. Heartbreak and trauma may feel like the end of your story, but here it's the beginning of a bold new chapter. I'm your host, Coach Deborah Griffiths, and this is the space where women rise, rebuild, and rediscover their purpose. Remember this truth. You are bent, not broken. Welcome back to this bent, not broken bonus coaching session. If you just listened to my conversation with Linda Grizzly, I want to take a few moments to help you integrate what you heard. Because information alone doesn't create change. Awareness plus action does. Divorce doesn't just break hearts, it disrupts identity, safety, confidence, and very often our relationship with money. And for many women, money becomes the last thing they want to look at because it's wrapped up in fear, shame, grief, and overwhelm. So let's slow this down together. Number one, the financial emotional connection. One of the most powerful things Linda shared is this. Financial stress doesn't live in a vacuum. It impacts confidence, decision making, self-trust, and even self-worth. If you're thinking I should be further along by now, or I don't even know where to start, or perhaps I'm afraid of what I'll see if I look, please hear this clearly. Nothing is wrong with you. You've been surviving. And survival mode doesn't leave room for strategy. Number two, why looking is power and not punishment. Avoiding your numbers doesn't protect you. It just delays relief. Checking your bank accounts, looking at your credit, understanding your cash flow. These aren't punishments. They are acts of self-trust. You don't need to fix everything today. You just need to see clearly where you are. Clarity creates calm, and calm creates better decisions. Here's a coaching moment. One small step this week. Here's your doable step. No spreadsheets, no pressure. Just pick one account, say your checking account. Review the last 30 days. And don't judge. Just notice. But ask yourself, what surprised me? What didn't I realize I was spending? And where might I want to redirect money instead of restricting myself? This is awareness, not austerity. Number three, reframing the me money. I love Linda's concept of me money because it aligns perfectly with healing after divorce. So many women leave marriages having sacrificed themselves for years. Financial healing includes permission to matter again. Me money isn't reckless, it's intentional self-respect. And when you consciously choose how to spend money on yourself, you stop leaking it unconsciously through guilt, avoidance, or even impulse. Number four, you don't have to do this alone. Just like I shared with Linda, you need a team after divorce, an attorney for the legal side, a financial guide for clarity and confidence, and emotional support, coaching or therapy to rebuild your trust with yourself. Healing isn't linear, neither is rebuilding your financial life. But step by step, you can move from financial fog to financial confidence. If this episode resonated with you, I encourage you to listen to the full conversation again. This time through the lens of compassion instead of fear. Because you are not behind. You are becoming informed. And that is powerful. I'll see you in the next episode of Bent Not Broken. Thank you for listening to today's episode of Bent Not Broken. I hope that this episode reminded you that even through life's toughest moments, you are bent not broken.
