Best news podcast.
I love how the Post explain what’s going on and why it’s important to know what is happening in our world. I love the personal story from the people that are affected. It helps all to be better people.
My daily listen!
I love this podcasts, the stories are well researched and the host and guests are always excellent. Even though I’m Canadian I find they cover topics not only applicable to the States which makes them stand out compared to their counterparts. While The Daily is great, I feel like as an international listener Post Reports is more broad and interesting.
Thursday’s episode on Fed policy & personal finances
Very good overall, especially Michelle Singletary - love her! However I’ll quibble with the reporter’s initial statement on gas prices. They are down relative to recent highs, true. But she says, they are up 49% compared to last year. Not sure about her timeframe, but I think this could be misleading. Gas prices last year were low coming off gas being crazy low during initial phase of epidemic (I saw prices under $2/gallon). So, the current gas prices look more like they’re coming back to pre-pandemic levels, and if high in some places, I’m not seeing a huge hike over what it has been in very recent past. Inflation is bad right now, but I don’t see it on gas prices like on nearly everything else.
Great content but.
I appreciate this show as a quick, easy-to-digest insight into issues and listen frequently. That said, I felt I had to take a star off because I find the host’s vocal fry really quite annoying. I wouldn't normally take someone’s manner of speech as a fault, but we’re talking about a *host* of a *podcast* here and audio is all we have. I confess I stopped listening to some episodes in the middle because of the vocal fry, and that is unfortunate.
An invaluable source of news
Always great quality, but especially appreciate the omicron guidance from experts like Dr. Wen. A calming voice of reason in frightening times.
Omicron episode
I have omicron and it’s far worse than any flu I’ve ever had. It’s “relatively mild” only in the sense you probably won’t die. It is most definitely not sniffles. Btw, I’m boosted.
Awesome podcast
Very informative
Excellent!
I always appreciate having the afternoon news to listen to while getting dinner ready after work. Your stories are interesting, and the host (and guest hosts) are always personable and enjoyable to listen to. Thank you for providing quality content!
Truly Top Notch
Wow. Host Martine Powers asks interview subjects exactly what I want to know and the show itself is always exactly of the moment. I listen to a lot of podcasts and this one I can’t do without. I wouldn’t miss an episode!
Enjoy the quality reporting
But why would I pay $2.99 a month for no ads when I’m already paying for a subscription?
Great hosts
I really like listening to the podcast hosts, they always sound knowledgeable and approachable. Martine is fantastic and the guest hosts recently like yesterday have been great too!
1/6 was a terrorist attack
Why does the pod omit relevant facts? The terrorists were wearing the Trump uniform. The GOP continues to lie about the attack. Is that because they helped organize it? Did republicans bankroll the attack?
I like it, but.....
I love the show. Great reporting. BUT why does it sound like people are calling from prison. It sounds like crap
Matamoros Part 2
An excellent report on a migrant family’s experience. It really touched my heart and made this situation more real to me. There is so much condemnation of those who seek a safer place to raise their children, and so few reports describing the unimaginable suffering of families like this one. Thank you for opening our eyes.
Excellent episode
I just finished “When an OB/GYN is anti-abortion.” Regardless of your position on the topic, this episode (in my opinion) is a must listen. It tells the listener about a little known issue regarding women’s reproductive rights; that of doctors that oppose abortions. It really made me think and want to educate myself further on each side of the issue. It is definitely relevant at this time.
Great podcast
Love that it includes both the major news stories of the day, while also including some more light hearted / arts and culture stories at the end, which I likely wouldn’t have otherwise heard about or read. The 9/11 episode was incredibly moving.
Martine is the reason
One of the most empathetic, smart hosts in news pods or radio. Show is starting quicker too. Really good context
Martine’s voice
You are doing an amazing job. I love your voice especially when you pronounce the Rs.
Slow Daily Updates
I really enjoy the content but they are slow to bring daily information. I listen to two other news pods, and they update early in the morning. By the time this pod releases their episode, I’ve already heard the news/info from other sources.
Best news!
My favorite podcast! Great news analysis. Love the issues discussed in each of the eps.
Tokyo Olympics coverage
I’ve been a listener of this podcast for a while and do generally enjoy it, but I have to correct the reporting on the Tokyo Olympics section. The decision to not have spectators was not a political decision due to dropping LDP popularity or public opinion. Tokyo residents were worried about overseas spectators, but there was always the option to have only domestic spectators. In fact, having no spectators at all was very unpopular as some residents already have tickets. Furthermore, business owners are shuttering their stores not because they’re concerned about the risk, but because the government told them to. The fact that the games are happening while businesses suffer in a state of emergency is precisely what’s politically unpopular - not the decision re: spectators.
Rachel Nichols
It is crazy that at the start of every game, Rachel Nichols flashes the white power symbol with her left hand, for a long time during her monologue. You can go back and check. She did it from the preseason on. She obviously does not Want to be around “those” people. It devastated my children and I when we saw it. It is awful to do to the young, full of hopes and dreams. It is clear she wants to do something else. Let her do that something else away from our sons and daughters.
Catholic Bishops
Your did present the facts as they relate to the Catholic Bishops, however, you did not present the other side. Catholics are not homogeneous, we are a scattered bunch. The latest bishops were appointed by John Paul II and his successor. Francis has appointed very few and his appointments rely on those bishops recommendations. Our American Catholic Bishops are a conservative bunch. If the bishops did vote to remove communion from politicians that favor abortion it must be approved by Francis and he has made it clear that this will not happen. Even JPII gave communion to all who approached him, it is the the priest that makes the decision on communion it is the communicant.
Vocal fry
Generally I love this podcast. It’s a fresh take on the news and enjoy listening to Martine. The June 20th episode, however? I had to stop listening due to the reporters vocal fry. It was like nails on a chalkboard.
