Listener Reviews

Always Fascinating
Hidden Brain is like no other podcast. The subject matter is always fascinating and unique. I always look forward to each episode, wondering what Shankar will come up with next.
Amazing easy to listen podcast
I found this podcast a few years ago and love the variety of topics they discuss. It is so relatable and insightful. This is a really easy to listen to podcast that always leaves me feeling like I know more and understand more about human behavior!
Passion Isn’t Enough
So many great and thought provoking espoisodes - this is just the latest of many. However, as I sit here cooking dinner, halfway through the episode I feel obligated to let others know this podcast and the Passion Isn’t Enough episode specifically are a must listen. If you want to always be growing and examining yourself - this podcast is for you. If you are one of the men Thoreau describes, living a life of quiet desperation, yet content- this may not be for you.
This is a podcast that will get you talking
I can’t tell you how many in depth conversations I’ve had with my partner, my friends, and my family because of something I’ve heard from Shankar. The topics they cover are so fascinating, and they take the time to really go into the weeds on these varying topics. It’s one of my very favorites. Thank you!
Hidden brain
I love listening to hidden brain! It’s very interesting and the variety of diverse topics has always fascinated me. I am amazed with the amount of research that probably goes into each podcast.I just do not like to hear Shankar trying to sell us Comcast or T- Mobile, or whatever it might be. It just does not suit him!! Please STOP IT!!
Great!
I have a dual degree in Neuroscience and Psych, so I like to consider myself pretty well informed on things related to the brain. But i still love this podcast! I think it’s super easy to digest and understand and it’s very entertaining.
One of my favorites!
This show is fantastic. I love it!
I’ve learned so much!
Fascinating topics. So many ways your mind and body work that we never think about, much less fully understand. I wish everyone would listen!!!
Hidden Brain
This is my favorite podcast!
Consistently an excellent podcast
I look forward to each week’ episode. Keep up the excellent work.
Love it
My favorite, thank for taking the time to put together this podcast and making it so human! Love it!
Every episode is a gem
I think this show has really hit it’s stride these past few seasons. Every episode leaves me full of new ideas, wanting to share what I learned with others. So much good information.
That laugh
I have never posted a podcast review, but what motivated me to do so was Shankar’s laugh…and now I see I’m not the only one who appreciates it. It’s one of the perks of listening to Hidden Brain, and as I listen during my morning runs, that laugh always makes me smile and feel lighter. Thank you to everyone who works on this podcast.
Where Happiness Hides
Most episodes have been enlightening to ways our brains work and what that means for us. This episode about “Where Happiness Hides” gave a poignant observation about how people tend to forget pain easily after succeeding to move on - through Lazik in achieving 20/20 to working hard to achieve tenure in academia.I think that is part of the reason why mankind has been able to continue. Giving birth is no walk in the park. It affects all your hormones while being pregnant, some will suffer morning sickness, some will lose or gain weight, and then the birth itself is nothing like in the movies, where the mother’s water breaks and then she’s in the hospital with a healthy infant cooing as the new mother breast feeds her new member.I know producing milk kept me from sleep, my midwife in the hospital had to unblock my ducts and sent tears streaming from the sharp pain that sang from my nipples down my private parts. My C-section wound did not heal as doctor expected and puss started to ooze out and I had 2 premies, since I had twin boys. All this means the first few months of bonding with my brand new sons were terribly painful, hardly got to sleep and had no nutritious food to eat because no one was caring for the mother. It may be perhaps been harder because it was my first pregnancy. I felt I go run over by a bus and couldn’t even get back up to see what just happened. With that in mind, this experience has taught be if anything, and that is I’m done having children. But so many people who may not have gone through such an extreme childbirth injury will rebound back, forgot how exhausting it was to have a new born and had to recover quickly to return to work! There is no way I am going to go through another round of babies crying asking for milk or having to deal with diapers filled so fast with diarrhea, that the soft stool just rose up the babies backs and out their collars!I’m curious how parents who are “one and done” and “parents of 4 children” differ in how they view happiness.
Perfect mix
This show is the perfect mix of science and human experience. I find myself replaying certain sections just to hear them again, the information or the explanation is so engaging. A wonderful variety of relevant topics and speakers.
Shakar’s Laugh is Everything
Joining this podcast bandwagon a little late in the game, but really enjoy listening to it. I feel like I learn something after every listen. Not gonna lie though — one of my favorite parts of this podcast is hearing Shankar’s giggle - it’s so warm and adorable. ☺️
One of my favorite podcasts
Consistently great and informative. Expands my mind.
Great work.
Very interesting story telling with facts that are available. Really enjoy it. Could you also do an episode on Ian Stevenson reincarnation work
Literally the best!
This podcast is my most favorite one! I look forward to it every week!
So thoughtful…what’s up with the longer ads?
Please find a balance with these new longer ad breaks. Don’t ruin such a thoughtful podcast. Thank you.
