Please release the rest of the interview!!!!! Part 2!!
3 Stacks interview!
I’m new to this podcast & I’m a huge Outkast fan so I love me some Andre! This interview allowed me to see how one of my fav artists goes through his creative process and answered a lot of the questions I had when it comes to him making new music! Thanks so much for making this interview happen! ❤️🙌🏾
Andre 3000 Interview 🔥🔥🔥
The Andre 3000 interview was phenomenal. My love & admiration for Andre and creatives as a whole grew even more. Much respect to the creative genius! This Podcast is brilliant! ❤️ Exceptional listen!
Rick and Andre 3000
My goodness. This episode is brilliant! Two geniuses talking about real life stuff that often gets buried and dismissed. Absolute gold!
Andre 3000!!
It was soooo enriching to hear one of the most talented artists of our (hip hop) time be so authentic and honest about his struggles. Kudos to Rick Rubin's timing - he gave Andre space to talk - some interviewers struggle with this. There were even moments of silence, which always gives the interviewee space to think and reflect. Bravo!
Flea: Acid For The Children
Possibly the best interview I’ve ever listened to. I’m 50 yrs old, so of course I’ve heard of and listened to the Chili Peppers casually, but I had NO IDEA, what a sensitive, brilliant human was behind that funky, driving bass. Standing ovation for you Flea 🤩~GirlFriday
Full Disclosure
Okay, fine, I *might* have a raging Malcolm Gladwell crush, from “The Tipping Point” to Revisionist History, this man is brilliant! I should have known that his beautiful mind would lend itself perfectly to the musical love story that is Broken Record. This podcast is such a smartly crafted deep dive that it makes me appreciate musicians and genres that I never would have given a listen. As a lifelong fan of music and art, this is easily my favorite weekly listen.
Each week
Each week I am blown away by this podcast and I tell my son in law “Dude, you GOTTA listen to this.” I just finished the Leonard Cohen episode. I actually called my kids in the middle of it just to talk to them. What a BEAUTIFUL discussion between Rick and Leonard’s son. I love the way Ruck just stayed back and let a father and son “talk”. A lot of podcasts are compelling, most are informative, but this is art, and it is wonderful. I am blown away
Powerfully educating
Always blows my mind with every subject and answers questions that I find interesting and often wondered about...never fails with awesomeness!

This podcast made me remember some of my favorite aspects of being a music lover.
Stellar
Great interviews with fascinating people
Ads
Malcolm, mark the start of your ads with music or something. Super annoying to be a minute in to a segue to find out its another commercial
Feel like a good cry?
The love junkies episode...man...gave me chills and made me cry. There’s something about 3 part female harmonies; they just tug on your heartstrings. Great podcast.
Diggin’ it!
This is not the usual “I’m a podcaster and I love great music.” This is “I’m a great musician and I’m talking with a podcaster.” With Rick Rubin’s at the helm you get the best: T Bone Burnett, Questlove, Linda Perry, David Byrne, Nile Rogers, and Tom Petty (about, not with😢!).Plus a HILARIOUS story about Obama and the art of DJing (last 10 min of Questlove Pt.2)
Fave
I love this podcast and can’t wait for profiles on the Bens: Folds & Rector, in whatever order.
The Linda Perry Cross Examination
I just finished the Linda Perry episode and I feel like it was less of an interview and more of a cross-examination. She’s the best at what she does and she knows it and shows it. I think this rubbed Bruce Headlam the wrong way. As Linda continued to talk about her experience Bruce’s questions continued to become more abrasive. At one point he is asking if she was afraid to learn how to work the studio equipment. She responds that nothing is impossible. Bruce comes back over the top and says that he didn’t ask if it was impossible he asked if she was afraid. I don’t think this was a good interview for Bruce but I think the problem is that Bruce is interviewing these people. What makes the Malcolm and Rick episodes great is that they aren’t interviewing. Malcolm and Rick and building a relationship; they are learning and maybe giving back to the relationship with their own insight. The episodes where a friendship is being built are terrific. The episodes that sound like lines are being drawn are not great.
IN LOVE 🎶
Just recently discovered this podcast and I’m IN LOVE!!! It popped up in the suggestion list bc I listed to Against the Rules. I’m a huge music fan of all genres so this pc is perfect! I’m definitely spreading the word and sharing it with my fellow music lovers!!!
I dig. And hell yeah Linda Perry!
I’m enjoying the podcast. Some harsh critics of Linda Perry. She came on strong, but I think that is 100% why she is successful. She reminds me of big wave surfer Keala Kennelly who competes in a male-dominated sport and has had to fight her way through every obstacle - she’s tough as nails and toots her own horn. I love Perry’s ego. She wanted something and she went after it. I like her rough edges. Never change, girl.
What gives?
Was I right? Ezra to finish the season. Well done
Ondara
Enjoyed the JS Ondara interview very much. I had never heard of him before and greatly appreciated the candid and poetic convo .
Linda Perry
Agree with previous post. Only episode I stopped listening to. Linda was like “ I’m the greatest thing since sliced bread! Actually I’m better than sliced bread”Easy girl, they are all amazing artists and talented people.
