Flloyd with another update. The script is complete, and I've managed to meet some other podcasters not a 100 miles away. And by the way, do check out Carousel Radio, "a show and a podcast that is planned and presented by our learning disabled DJs and radio presenters. It’s one of the only places on the radio where you can hear spoken word exclusively by learning disabled artists." Impressive, and fun. Yet another one of my songs. This one was written for a musical that never eventuated, about an ageing actress trying to restart her career. Here she prepares for an audition, and expresses the thoughts any one who has been involved in a 'cattle call' audition will appreciate. Helen's fans will be pleased to hear that Episode 1 of Season 8 has been scripted! Please help to spread the word, share links to the podcast on social media. To My Mother
This song was originally written for a play-with-music, "Blame it on Your Mother", back in the early 2000s. I thought, at the time, that I was fictionalising my own experience to gift to a character who had more sense than me. But time passed, and as it happened, this is exactly how my relationship with my mother panned out! So yes—another autobiographical song. I perform it unaccompanied because I don't have a white grand piano and a fantastic accompanist to work with. And my ukulele just does...
