The thing
All allegories for the experience of war, the most important test of men. As compared to childbirth for women. The German words for both are closely related. I would love to be able to add some thoughts to your episodes but being being broke can’t subscribe to Patron. I’m not a twitter user—I’m in grad school for the second time with a teenager and need to manage distractions—how can I add a few comments easily? You claim to invite them but I have found it very difficult????

Very fun
Perfect for older millennials that love movies. Please do The Legend of Billie Jean!

A delight
This show gives me the warm fuzzies. Even when I haven’t seen the movie, I look forward to a kind and insightful conversation each week. Thanks for your work!

i love this show
sweet, funny, and insightful - please do bend it like beckham next!

Sarah Marshall AND Ryan Ken???
I just started listening to this podcast. I love it, and I can’t wait to listen to Sarah Marshall and Ryan Ken together.

Love movies better
I thought I was full up on movie podcasts, but I just listened to the Groundhog Day episode, and You Are Good is my new favorite of the genre. Sarah and Alex have such a way of finding the emotional core of a movie and laying it out in the cultural context of the time. As a fellow older millennial, I feel like I especially relate to their takes, because I came to know the movies they discuss at a similar age. Thank you Sarah and Alex! Your podcast makes me love these movies more fully and better understand myself.

Health Insurance Should Pay for This
For real my health insurance should cover my patreon subscription. This show has brought my like multiple important realizations that have helped me progress in therapy. Also the most important pop culture moment of the last decade to me personally happened on this show. Mara Wilson quoted Chris Flemming to Sarah Marshal which is an incredibly specific niche but everything to me.

You are so good!!!!
Love love love this show. Insight plus vulnerability equals amazing. Thanks so much. Loved the Ragnarok episode - I’m a huge Marvel fan and I learned so much! Thanks again for all of this

Love this.
This show brings lots of joy along with super specific and precise insight. Super recommend.

Favorite podcast
Always an amazing show and wonderful music

My comfort
Thank you for all the warm and fuzzies. You make me laugh and cry at what I have seen and look up new gems to add to my cinematic arsenal. Hearts and hugs y’all

Delightful
This podcast makes me feel nostalgic, introspective, and happy. Sarah Marshall could make me laugh while talking about anything.

Best relax and listen
Thank goodness for nice people with great chemistry talking about fun movies. The world is okay for an hour.

Delightful
The hosts are lovely and this show is like a magical elixir to calm your spirit and chill out your mind.

MY HEART
I love this show. You sent me down a Kathy Bates rabbit hole and I couldn’t be more thankful.

Beautiful
I could listen to these two talk about anything. A wonderful dichotomy of cutting wit and soft, gentle earnestness.

Absolutely lovely
Sarah and Alex are the warmest and most compassionate hosts, I want them to review every movie. Every single one.

Best kind of people
My favorite kind of people are people with empathy and people with weird taste and luckily i found both in the same spot!

You Are Good and so is this podcast
I only discovered You Are Good very recently, but it’s quickly become one of my favorites. Alex and Sarah’s chemistry is just delightful to listen to, and all of their guests bring an enjoyable new perspective to whatever movie is up for discussion. I’ve even found myself listening to the episodes about movies I haven’t seen, because they’re just so fun to listen to. And I really appreciate how they occasionally manage to touch on heavier topics (like the transphobia in ‘Silence of the Lambs’, for example) with sensitivity and care, while still maintaining the overall chill, hang-and-listen-to-some-friends vibe. Overall, if you’re looking for a fun, thoughtful dive into films past (and some present), I can’t recommend You Are Good enough.

So so good!
I listen to this podcast so much, I don’t even listen to music anymore. I even listen to the episodes about movies I haven’t seen because I can’t seem to get enough! I love it here

Best thing to listen to when you accidentally get too high
Everyone in the world is as reasonable and compassionate as this podcast all the time. Everything will be okay.

Thank You
My dad and I started listening to this together over FaceTime after he got diagnosed with cancer this past spring. We started listening when it was called Why Are Dads because we love movies and have a great relationship, so we loved to talk about the emotional discussions on this show. He lost his battle yesterday. Thank you for giving us this. I knew listening to the Big Fish episode would feel different on the other side. I guess I’ll find out now.

A, like, great podcast!
Responding to some other reviews - I personally think they should say “like” more often! In all seriousness Sarah and Alex are a delight, and getting in touchwith your feelings at least once a week is always good, right?

Fantastic explorations!!!
Sarah and Alex are your incredible guides through thoughtful discussions of a wide range of films and their emotional experiences and impact. Whether it’s a film I know and love, or something I’ve never watched (which then prompts me to do immediately following my listen!!!!!) its always a treat. As IF it couldn’t get better, a handful of guests sometimes join the conversations, and the result is always moving and heartfelt.

Like, More Like
Because, like, what is there not to lie?

pure joy
this podcast is so fun, filled with nostalgia and laughs but plenty of in-depth thoughtful analysis too. thank you alex and sarah!

So good!
Thanks for this lovely podcast.

Makes Me Revisit Movies
I appreciate the cohosts and guest hosts who make me reconsider movies I take for granted.

Give Yourself a Treat
This is an intelligent, emotionally positive show with hosts who have an easy chemistry. The dialogue is thoughtful and I always come away with insights. My only suggestion is roll dial-back the bass levels on Alex’s voice. He has a big, lovely voice that can sometimes get lost in the boom of the bass.

It’s like the scene in that movie when…
I love movies, and I love the fact that movies have often given me the language I needed in my life to express & talk about my feelings (“It’s like that scene in that movie when…”). This podcast is based on that premise—i.e., that movies give us ways to experience & talk about our feelings—which, along with the show’s hosts, is what sets it apart from the roughly 17.5 million other podcasts about movies. Even if you haven’t seen the movie they’re covering, it’s great to hear Sarah & Alex talk about the movie & the feelings without judgment or shame.
