Many women are sent to, or drawn to, Pilates teachers for help with osteoporosis. Modified Pilates is perfectly safe, and extraordinarily helpful, for clients with osteoporosis.
Unmodified Pilates, however, can hurt you for the long term. I've worked with clients who crush fractured a vertebrae doing unmodified Pilates in a studio. It's crucial that your instructor understand how to work with low bone density!
