Well, let's go to the lightning round, Laura.
Speaker ALet's close out today's show.
Speaker AIt was Memorial Day this past weekend, which means summer is officially here.
Speaker AWhat, in your opinion, Laura, is the single most underrated summer road trip destination in America?
Speaker AAnd why?
Speaker BWell, I have two answers for this.
Speaker BAdmittedly, they're both in the Midwest.
Speaker BYou know, my caveat is that I.
Speaker BMy experiences do not span the entire continental U.S. so I'm going with what I know.
Speaker BThe first is southwest Michigan.
Speaker BYou know, it's likely people from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan will say this is not indurated.
Speaker BAnd everybody knows about it.
Speaker BBut I just.
Speaker BIn the last 10 years or so have started to go to Great Lakes beaches.
Speaker BAnd they're, they're awesome.
Speaker BYou know, you're, you're, you're on Great Lakes too, so you're not unfamiliar with this idea.
Speaker BBut southwest Michigan has wineries.
Speaker BThere's a lot of other charming development along the main drags.
Speaker BIt gets more populous as you go further north and there's some more established, what I would call beach towns.
Speaker BBut down about two and a half hours from where we are in Indiana, right over the border, it's really a great vacation time.
Speaker BSo I would highly endorse that.
Speaker BAnd then the other may not be great for summer.
Speaker BIt might be a little too hot.
Speaker BBut it's Red River Gorge in Kentucky.
Speaker BWe actually went.
Speaker ARed River Gorge.
Speaker AThat's a real place.
Speaker ARed river, gorgeous.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker ANot a place in a Clint Eastwood movie.
Speaker AIt's a real place.
Speaker BNo, no, it's a real place.
Speaker BWe went a few years ago.
Speaker BAgain, the community of rock climbing people.
Speaker BRock climbers will say this is also well known.
Speaker BIt's a canyon system.
Speaker BAnd I, I had no idea it was there.
Speaker BIt's.
Speaker BI feel it's almost national parks, level scenery and rocks.
Speaker BI'm someone who, I like rocks in my national parks that.
Speaker BThe Southwest is my favorite.
Speaker BSo it might get a little hot in the summer.
Speaker BWe might be entering maybe the, the end of your really comfortable time there.
Speaker BBut we had a really great time.
Speaker BMore of a long weekend trip, I would say, when we went in the fall a few years ago.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker AAll right, nice.
Speaker ASo you're a rock climber.
Speaker AThat's what I, that's what I'm hearing.
Speaker BI was going to say I should come to.
Speaker BI am not.
Speaker BWe did not rock climb, but we.
Speaker ADon't go on belay or whatever.
Speaker BIt is great.
Speaker BThere's great hiking.
Speaker BUm, but the people who love rock climbing love doing it there.
Speaker AAll right.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker AGot It.
Speaker BSo you're.
Speaker BYou're.
Speaker AYou're promoting it for them.
Speaker BThat's what you're saying?
Speaker BYeah, yeah.
Speaker BAnd for, you know, if you just want to kind of hang out and.
Speaker BAnd look at some.
Speaker BSome great scenery.
Speaker ALook at some rocks.
Speaker BYeah, exactly.
Speaker BSo my retort to that is.
Speaker BIs that are there summer destinations that you think are overrated?
Speaker AOh, man, that's a.
Speaker AThat's a tough one.
Speaker AYou know, so basically, anything that requires a hike, as loyal omnitok fans will know, because I loathe hiking.
Speaker AI hate it when my white wife loves hiking, and every time she makes me do it, I'm like, no, no, no, I can't do it.
Speaker ASo I think on that front, I think it cancels out the Grand Canyon, Moab Zion national park, all those places.
Speaker ABut in fairness, those are all beautiful.
Speaker AI don't know.
Speaker AI. I went to Jackson Hole when I was a kid, and I was like, yeah, this is kind of overrated.
Speaker AIt's just kind of poshy and overrated.
Speaker AI think that would be the one thing that would come to my mind.
Speaker ABut I don't know.
Speaker AI mean, the.
Speaker AThe Corn palace in South Dakota, you know, I don't know if I. I don't know if I need to see that in my life.
Speaker ANo offense to South Dakotans, but yes.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker BRight.
Speaker BYes.
Speaker AYou know, it's kind of wall drug, you know, it's.
Speaker AIt's.
Speaker AYou know.
Speaker BYeah.
Speaker AYou know, that's what comes to mind for me.
Speaker AAll right.
Speaker AThe Indy 500 took place this past weekend in your home city of Indianapolis.
Speaker AWhat is one word you would use to describe Indianapolis during the Indy 500?
Speaker BWell, I have to steal from the.
Speaker BThe trademark slogan about the Indy 500, which is the greatest spectacle in racing, and say that it's a spectacle.
Speaker BThe race itself is, of course, a spectacle.
Speaker BAnd there's a lot of.
Speaker BIf you've ever watched the pre.
Speaker BThe pre.
Speaker BGame, the pre.
Speaker BRace on tv, if you haven't been to the race, you know, it is.
Speaker BBut I think what people may not realize is that the entire month of May is festive in Indianapolis.
Speaker BAnd so while everything that happens at the race is second to none and truly unique, you can get what I call the vibes and join the festivity in a lot of different ways.
Speaker BThere's lots of chances to go and be at the track, hear the cars, watch the cars, you know, just kind of join in on all the fun throughout the month.
Speaker BSo I. I would really jump on the bandwagon of calling it a spectacle for the whole city.
Speaker AA spectacle.
Speaker ASo you like the rev of that engine, Laura?
Speaker AThat's what you're saying?
Speaker AYou like the real.
Speaker BIt's a distinctive sound.
Speaker BI really.
Speaker BIt's hard to describe if you haven't been to the race.
Speaker BI think most people justifiably.
Speaker BCar racing isn't like the most exciting sport except for, like, the beginning and the end.
Speaker BI say this is a sports fan, but.
Speaker BBut I think the.
Speaker BThe sound of it is unmistakable.
Speaker BAnd when they're going really fast, it's like you're watching, you know, the X Wings in Star Wars.
Speaker BIt's pretty amazing stuff.
Speaker BSo that's.
Speaker BThat's my endorsement.
Speaker BIt's a spectacle and.
Speaker BBut you don't have to take part in, you know, the one thing you can.
Speaker BYou can be part of it in lots of different ways.
Speaker AWell, you had me at X Wing, so.
Speaker BYeah, exactly.
Speaker BExactly.
Speaker BAll right, well, so our last question.
Speaker BI know you're a movie buff.
Speaker BSummer movies, 2026.
Speaker BWhat are.
Speaker BWhat are you looking forward to speaking of X Wings, Well, I just saw.
Speaker AThe Mandalorian Grogu, which was actually better than my expectations.
Speaker AHave you seen that one?
Speaker AAre you going to go see?
Speaker BI have not.
Speaker BI have not.
Speaker BI have not seen it.
Speaker BThere's a chance.
Speaker BBig baby Yoda fans in our house.
Speaker BSo.
Speaker AYeah, yeah, it was better than I expected.
Speaker AMy wife and I both liked it.
Speaker AWe both.
Speaker AMy kids were like, yeah, it's all right, dad.
Speaker ABut I was like, that was really good.
Speaker AI liked it a lot.
Speaker BAnd did you watch the whole.
Speaker BDid you watch Mandalorian also?
Speaker AYes, yes.
Speaker BOkay.
Speaker BAll right.
Speaker AYes, yes.
Speaker BAll right.
Speaker BSo that's part of it.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker A100%.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker ANo, so, yeah, I was deep, you know, steeped into it and.
Speaker BRight, right.
Speaker AI play Star wars galaxy of heroes every day and have for the last seven years, for those listening.
Speaker ABut.
Speaker ABut yeah, no, the movie, I probably most.
Speaker AI can't ever remember the name of it, though.
Speaker AAnd I feel like such a, like, kind of poser movie buff nerd.
Speaker ABut the movie, the Steven Spielberg movie that's coming out.
Speaker BOh, the aliens one?
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AI can't remember what it's called.
Speaker AI was thinking, oh, my God.
Speaker AThe Arrival.
Speaker ABut like, but like, yeah, if Spielberg can give us back what made him great, like, with a movie like that, I'm pretty.
Speaker AYou know, if he can get into the Jaws, the Close Encounters, the poltergeist realm again, like, I'd be pretty pumped for that.
Speaker ALike, I feel like.
Speaker AI feel like my.
Speaker AMy mind, my psyche needs Some Steven Spielberg great scare, you know, to it this summer.
Speaker AI think it'll be fabulous.
Speaker BYeah, yeah.
Speaker BEmily Blunt's in it.
Speaker BYeah, it's.
Speaker BI'm totally blanking on it.
Speaker BIt's something day.
Speaker AYeah, it is.
Speaker AYeah, it's.
Speaker AWhat is?
Speaker AYeah, it's like announcement day or something.
Speaker BI don't know.
Speaker BYeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker ABut you know what I'm talking about, right?
Speaker BYes, I do know what you're talk about.
Speaker BLooks terrifying for me.
Speaker BBut it does remind me that my 5 year old son is more interested in really scary movies than I would have thought.
Speaker BAnd I think the next one we're gonna watch is Jurassic park.
Speaker BWhich I find to be terrifying and a horrifying movie.
Speaker BI mean, thought there'd be more hijinks.
Speaker BIt's just plain terrifying the entire time.
Speaker BAnd so it'll be a real test of whether he can withstand it.
Speaker BSpeaking as field.
Speaker AOkay, that's interesting.
Speaker AI didn't know we're gonna go there.
Speaker AOkay.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AJurassic Park.
Speaker ASo that gets, that gets you going.
Speaker AThat gets, that gets Laura's tension up.
Speaker BOh well, it's so scary.
Speaker BI mean, I think I thought my, my secret is that I didn't see Jurassic park until I was an adult.
Speaker BI didn't see it when I was a kid.
Speaker BI'm not sure if maybe I just was too afraid or what it was.
Speaker BSo I saw it and I just had the impression there was going to be a much larger percentage of sort of dinosaur hijinks.
Speaker BAnd then, you know, some scary stuff in the back.
Speaker BThird maybe.
Speaker ARight.
Speaker BBut it's like three quarters scary, you know, Tyrannosaurus rex, the, the, the vibrating water stuff and very little Samuela Jackson, you know, in comparison.
Speaker BSo I. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker BSo I, I just remember finishing that movie and thinking, wow, I, I did not know this was going to be so terrifying.
Speaker BSo.
Speaker BWell, the tbd.
Speaker BI'll report back next time on whether my, my son comes out of it unscathed.
Speaker AI've never, I've never heard anyone describe Jurassic park that way.
Speaker AIt's so amazing.
Speaker AWhat, what scares us as individuals relative to one another, you know, like you.
Speaker BSaid, I think it's very funny.
Speaker BIt's very tense the whole time.
Speaker AOh yeah, it's very tense.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker BI thought there'd be a little more, you know.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AThe water bouncing up in the car is.
Speaker AThat's such a great visual, that guy.
Speaker AThat's why he's so good.
Speaker BYes, exactly, exactly.
Speaker ASo good.
Speaker AHe's the master.
Speaker AThat's why I'm hoping we can get the master back at his craft again.
Speaker AThat would be fantastic.
Speaker ANot to.
Speaker ANot to say he hasn't done great stuff, but, like.
Speaker BNo, but I want.
Speaker AI want him to do that again.
Speaker AThat would be great.
