Windsor Intruder Arrested—While Kate, William & the Kids Were Just Down the Road

A fresh security scare has rocked Windsor Castle after a man allegedly under the influence of drugs broke into the castle grounds in broad daylight, sparking immediate concern among police and Royal security teams. A police spokesperson confirmed a man in his thirties has been arrested on suspicion of trespass on a protected site and possession of Class A drugs after entering restricted grounds at Windsor Castle. Officers in the grounds spotted the man just after thirteen hundred hours Sunday June first quickly arrested him. He was then passed into the custody of Thames Valley Police. The man was later released on bail pending further investigation. A source familiar with the matter said the intruder is believed to have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the break in. He broke into the castle and near town Gate and was quickly detained by police. It was a crazy thing to do and caused quite a stir but at the stage appears there was no intent to cause any serious harm. It is understood that the family were in residence at Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Estate that day, though it remains unclear whether they were present at the exact time of the intrusion. Adelaide Cottage lies some distance from the location of the breach, which was closer to the public facing town gate. Despite the high profile nature of the breach, police confirmed the man never reached the

Royal Aids and close Protection officers informed of the security incident as part of standard protocol. Thames Valley Police, who took custody of the suspect following the arrest, added he was quickly challenged by matt police officers and arrested. He did not enter the inner grounds of Windsor Castle. He was arrested on suspicion of true pass on a secure site and possession of Class eight drugs. He has been bailed and an investigation is ongoing.
