00 Ah Calorogu Shark media at Lo and welcome to Pallace Intrigue. I am your host, Mark Francis. One of the spy Skull's favorite memories with the royal family has nothing to do with Buckingham Palace, royal banquets or glittering tiaras. It involves peanut butter and jam sandwiches. Speaking to The Telegraph, Spy Sculls star mel B look back on some of the biggest moments of her career, including meeting Nelson, Mandela, performing at Wembley Stadium and spending time with the young Princes William and Harry. She recalled, they were young princes and we made them peanut butter and jam sandwiches. There were such cute kids. I can't remember whether it was William or Harry who had a crush on Emma, but they were so polite and charming and gorgeous. Her royal connections continued years later, when Prince William presented her with an MBE in twenty twenty two for her work supporting survivors of domestic abuse through Women's Aid. Mel couldn't resist joking about the occasion because she was wearing a dress designed by fellow spy skull Victoria Beckham. She said it was when he was pinning my mb to my chest and address Victoria had made for me, which was just a little bit revealing in exactly the place he pinned the medal. Victoria knew exactly what she was doing when she designed it for me. After the ceremony, Mel revealed that William praised her charity work and even expressed sympathy for the abuse she had suffered. He commended me on all my work that had been doing and he goes, I'm so sorry you went through such a horrible time.
26 He did say, I can't believe I'm giving you one of these. I'm delighted and I said, oh, thank you. We had a giggle, and according to Mel, William had one more request. He wanted a spy s Calls Reunion. A new book examining some of the most influential women in royal history, draws an unusual comparison between Megan Mankle and one of the most controversial figures ever to enter the English monarchy, Anne Berlin. Author Catherine Meyer explores the lives of eight royal women in her latest work, including Anne Berlin, Queen Elizabeth the First, Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen Camilla, Princess Diana, Kate Middleton, and Meghan. Writing about Meghan's departure from royal life, Mayer argues that there are surprising parallels between the public reaction to the Duchess of Sussex and the treatment of Anne Berlin nearly five centuries earlier. Maya wrote, Meghan's exit has been at least as noisy, and you don't have to look far to find echoes in history. Consider the following description a commoner raised to royalty. She is a heroine to some, a hate figure to others. Her adherents trumpeted her potential to refresh the monarchy, her enemies disparaged her as an interloper. Still, the wedding went ahead, accounts different on the number of ceremonies, but soon she was gone. Her exit brutal fans maintained that prejudice and plotting did for her. Critics hold her solely responsible for her own downfall. If you assume this to be a description of Megan, you're right. But here's the thing. The same details apply a word for word to Anne Boleyn. Anne Berlinley's second wife of King Henry
57 the eighth, remains one of the most famous and tragic figures in royal history. She was executed in fifteen thirty six after being accused of treason, adultery, and incest, charges that many historians now believe were politically motivated or fabricated. Mayer argues that both women arrived within the royal families outsiders and quickly became deeply polarizing public figures. The author also addressed the strong feelings Megan continues to generate among both supporters and critics. She wrote, but if your feelings for her go beyond disinterest to active dislike, even hatred, you ask yourself, why might it be that, like royal predecessors, she has been damned as a strumpet, im pitted against other royal women by insidious palace briefing and a culture hostile to women with opinions. Kate has become closely associated with her collection of tailored coats and coat dresses, and there may be more to the style choice than simple fashioned preference. According to Radar Online, Catherine's signature look reflects long established royal conventions surrounding official engagements. Where appearance and presentation are carefully considered parts of public life. The princess is frequently seen wearing structured coats and coat dresses during royal duties, often keeping the same outfit in place throughout an engagement, regardless of whether events move indoors or outdoors.
11 One source told the publication, people often assume Kate's coats are simply a personal style preference, but there's a lot more to it than that. Within the royal household, appearance is carefully considered and official engagements come with certain expectations. A senior royal is expected to maintain a polished, consistent image from the moment they arrive until they leave, and that means outerwear is often treated as part of the formal outfit rather than something that can be casually removed. The coat becomes a symbol of discipline and professionalism as much as a fashion statement. According to the report, royal fashion experts say coats and coat dresses have traditionally been regarded as complete outfits rather than practical outerwear, particularly during formal engagements. Another source explained, for seeing members of the royal family, the coat is rarely treated as something practical that can simply be taken off when they get indoors.
58 It's considered an intense grew part of the overall look, and in many respects, forms part of the unofficial uniform that accompanies royal duties. Kate has spent years refining her public image around those expectations and understands exactly what is required of her when she steps out on behalf of the crown, and of course, Megan somehow gets dragged into all of this. One source claimed Meghan viewed some of those same conventions very differently. She has spoken publicly about feeling uncomfortable with certain dress requirements during her time as a working royal, whether that involved wearing nude hoes, reel limiting her choice of colors. Seeing Kate continue to embrace the traditions that Megan felt restricted by, it can be frustrating because it serves as a reminder of the rules and expectations she was eager to leave behind. More palas in just a moment, King Charles has revealed that one of his favorite comfort foods is the humble baked potato, and more specifically a variety known as the Red Duke of York. The monarch shared the detail in the documentary Finding Harmony, a King's Vivere, while discussing the importance of growing food produce. If you want ever a decent baked potato, which I love, you've got to have the crispy skins.
07 So that Red Duke of York's are very good. We've discovered again through trial and error, the King said. The comment attracted some attention because of the unusual name of the potato variety. The Red Duke of York was first developed in the nineteen forties and shares its name with the title formerly held by the King's younger brother, Andrew Mount Patton Windsor. There is, of course no connection between the potato and the Duke beyond the shared name, but the coincidence has prompted plenty of headlines. Quin Camilla has previously admitted that recreating the King's preferred baked potatoes at home has not always gone smoothly. Speaking to her son Tom Parker Bowls, she joked about her cooking mishap, saying and not a natural baker to say the least. As for baked potatoes, many a poor incinerated specimen has been found in the bottom of the ager put in then forgotten about. Baked potatoes also appear to have been a favorite in Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's household. During a television interview, Ferguson revealed her preferred toppings. Asked what she puts on a baked potatoes, she replied, mayonnaise, butter, cheese, and really crispy skin. And there you have it.
