03 Calorogus Shark Media. Hello and welcome through Palace Intrigue. I'm your host, Mark Francis for USA Today. Jennifer Hassan points out Prince William was very busy not seeing his brother Prince Harry last week. She writes, Prince William crammed in a lot of activities last week. The royal visited a school, rode a funicular railway, played crazy golf, talked to fisherman about the threat of warming seas, won a charity polo match, and topped it all off with a family visit to Wimbledon. His busy schedule had one glaring emission reuniting with his brother, while the King seventy seven made time to meet with his estrange younger son. There was no olive branch in sight for the brothers, who at one point last week were just twelve miles apart. Royal commentator Hillary Fordage told Fox News Digital that William's position has not changed. Prince William remains adamant, Harry isn't to be trusted. Broadcaster Helena Chard agreed, adding reports still describe a total blackout between the brothers. There was no sign of the rift subsiding anytime soon. I don't see the Prince and Princess of Wales's absence as a snub. It is strategic. You can't have an institutional reconciliation without Prince William, the future King.
20 Royal broadcaster Ian Pellham Turner, so the biggest obstacle facing Harry now is repairing his relationship with his older brother. The main barrier for Harry now is starting peace talks with William and Princess Kate, if that can happen. William has been demonstrably against Harry since his book Spare was published. The same view was echoed by Sunday Times Royal editor Royer Nicker, who wrote that William is unlikely to welcome his father's decision to open the door to Harry. She wrote, what will the Prince of Wales make of his father's olive branch to the Sussexes. You won't like it, that's for sure. Royal commentator Jane Barr, who writes the From Berkshire to Buckingham Substack, believes Harry's five day visit may have stirred up some complicated emotions for the Duke. Barr wrote, this must have been very emotional for Harry, who is obviously desperate to return to his old life. He was raised at Highgrove after all. I bet this whole trip makes him more anngsy than ever. Meanwhile, Harry said to believe the relationship between his children and their grandfather is too important to be influenced by the continuing rift with his older brother. Once this tells the international news, Harry knows William will react badly to the whole idea, but he simply doesn't care what his brother thinks. If he wants to be nasty about it and turn it into some sort of ugly confrontation, Harry can't stop him. But he's not going to let William dictate the terms of when his children spend time with their grandfather. As far as he's concerned, If Charles wants him there, that's all the encouragement he needs to keep moving forward. If it sends William into a mouthdown or they end up coming to blows, so be it. He's not going to be bullied.
47 One question has lingered ever since King Charles hosted Prince Harry and Megan at Highgrove. Why was Queen Camilla there? Writing in her Royal's extra sub stack Sally Bedel Smith claims Camilla's presence was not simply about supporting her husband, also about serving as a witness during what was always expected to be a sensitive family meeting. She wrote, significantly, Queen Camilla was by her husband's side, not at least to serve as witness to Charles's interactions with his volatile youngest son, as she had been in February twenty twenty four when Harry came to London after charles cancer diagnosis was revealed. Camilla's presence is particularly notable given Harry's repeated criticism of his stepmother over the past several years. In his memoir Spare, Harry described her as a wicked stepmother.
30 He wrote, I had complex feelings about gaining a step parent who I believed had recently sacrificed me on her personal pr altar. In a funny way, even wanted Camilla to be happy. Maybe she'd be less dangerous if she was happy. Could Princess Anne become the Royal family's next peacemaker and who report claims the Princess Royal wants to meet privately with Harry in the hopes of helping repair the deep divisions within the family, but according to the report, Anne believes one condition is essential. The conversation would have to take place without Megan Markle. The National Examiner quotes a source who says Anne believes she may be one of the few senior royals Harry would still listen to. The source said she'd really like the chance to sit down with Harry, just the two of them, because she thinks it's time someone shook a bit of sense into him, and she feels like he may actually listen to her.
15 She's always been the voice of common sense in the family, and she and Harry have always had a good understanding of each other. She isn't planning to go into this on a soapbox. She genuinely wants to hear where Harry's coming from and what his plan actually is. She believes he really does want peace with the family, but she's not impressed with the way he's going about it, and she wants to have a proper conversation with him to get that across. She'd like to help steer him in the right direction, but this will only happen if he agrees to sit down with her alone. Anne isn't going to speak freely in front of Megan. In her view, that would be far too risky. No doubt that will upset Megan, but Anne isn't interested in sparing her feelings. Her focus is on sorting this out once and for all, and she believes that can only happen if there are no outside influences, unless, of course, Princess Anne is too busy working. The Princess Royal members of the South Korean girl group And Mix during a reception hosted by the British Embassy and Soul at the Four Seasons Hotel. The event celebrated the partnership between the UK and the Republic of Korea, bringing together leaders from business, culture and government.
15 And Mix has become one of South Korea's most popular key pop groups and is known for its energetic mix pop sound, blending multiple musical styles into a single song. In a more somber moment, the Princess Royal visited the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan on July fourteenth the date will make sense in a minute, where she laid a wreath honoring those who died at the Battle of Imjin River this year, amongst the seventy fifth anniversary of the battle the bloodiest engagement involving British forces since the Second World War. Anne also placed a single white chrysanthemum on the grave of Private Martin Hogan of the Black Watch, who was killed on July fourteenth, nineteen fifty two, at just nineteen years old. During her visit, the Princess too of the cemetery and heard the stories of seven Victoria Cross recipients buried there, including Lieutenant Philip Curtis, who continued leading his platoon after being wounded before being killed in action.
09 She also visited the grave of Major Patrick and Jeer of the Gloucestershire Regiment and Geer was killed during the Battle of Imingin River, but remained unidentified for more than seventy years before researchers were finally able to confirm his identity in twenty twenty three using historical records, military reports, and wartime correspondence. More Palace in Just a Moment, a former royal aide who worked closely with the Queen Mother, has strongly criticized her portrayal and Netflix's The Crown, describing it as one of the program's biggest failings. Jamie Loth of Pinkerton is perhaps best known as a former aide to Princess William and Harry, but earlier in his career he served as equerry to the Queen Mother, giving him a front row seat to one of the most famous royal households of the late twentieth century. His duties brought him into regular contact with the Queen Mother from a company her on engagements, to sharing meals and managing parts of her daily schedule. Speaking to The Times, Laltha Pinkerton said he remains deeply unhappy with how she was depicted in the hit Netflix drama. I'm not a commentator on The Crown, but the travesty of that program was not all the sort of spurious stories, but it was how they portrayed her, he said. Maltha Pinkerton insists the picture bears little resemblance to the woman. He knew. She was made out to be this whisky swilling half trunk tittering, retro backwards looking, but she was sort of a paragon actually, as were her staff. Asked about his own experience working for her, he had nothing but praise. She was absolutely marvelous, he said. You could have lunched with her every day unless you wanted to, as she put it, have lunch
