Meghan’s Rosé, Suits Rewind, and a Royal Funeral Plan with a Twist
You can laugh at Meghan Markle’s brand—but royal expert Jennie Bond says she might just be getting the last word. From her lifestyle tips to her sell-out products and surging social media numbers, Meghan seems to be quietly building something real. As for Harry? Bond thinks he’s finally figured out he’s not exactly a natural TV producer.
Meanwhile, Suits superfans are convinced they’ve pinpointed the exact moment Meghan met Harry—by tracking changes in Rachel Zane’s wardrobe, screen chemistry, and camera angles. Hemlines went down. Kisses got awkward. Coincidence? They think not.
But the shine may be fading on Meghan’s debut rosé. One Daily Mail critic called it “bland,” “watery,” and “something you’d get at a work happy hour.” Cheers?
And in a serious turn, The Telegraph reports that Prince Harry and Meghan are being quietly included in early plans for King Charles’ eventual funeral. Nothing to do with his current health—just traditional planning. But should the worst happen, Harry would walk beside William, and even Archie and Lilibet would have roles.
Also today: thanks to a boom in offshore wind, the Sovereign Grant is about to surge by £45 million. While that money goes toward palace renovations, critics argue it could be better spent addressing child poverty. Helicopters, heritage, and headlines—welcome to monarchy math in 2025.

0:03 Caloroga Shark Media. Hello and welcome to Palace Intrigue. I'm your host, Mark Francis. Now you can make fun of Meghan Markle all you want, But royal expert Jenny Bond thinks Meghan has it all figured out. Bond told The Mirror, it's quite obvious that Netflix got involved with them because they wanted the inside story of their royal life, and they got it. It's true that they haven't managed to produce much content since then, or at least content that has proved particularly popular. But Meghan's lifestyle show is perfectly pleasant and has some quite useful tips. For example, she was much mocked for saying that she wanted to elevate ordinary things, but she's quite right. If you watch any cookery programs, all the professionals agree that really is vital that ditches are beautifully presented. Harry was probably always going to be out of his depth as a would be TV producer or presenter. He has dabbled and the results have been mediocre, so I think he now realizes he is better placed using his platform to pursue his charitable and campaigning work and if as ever fails, Bond said, well she has a pride, certainly, and I believe her when she says she has poured her heart and soul into her business. Curating a range of products for her website so far has been quite successful. There is clearly a high demand as everything sells out almost instantly. She has certainly built up a very impressive following on social media in a very short time, and that is where the future lies for so many business ventures. She seems to be buzzing with new ideas and I wish her success.
1:33 I hope they're happy. Fans of Suits have been playing detective and they think they've figured out exactly when Meghan Markel began dating Prince Harry based on subtle changes in her on screen presence. Meghan portrayed paralegal turned lawyer Rachel Zane from twenty eleven to twenty eighteen, Although the final season aired in twenty eighteen, she wrapped filming for her final episodes in twenty seventeen that same year. In November, her engagement to Prince Harry was officially announced, coinciding with USA Networks confirmation that she would be leaving the series, but super fans rewatching the show since its resurgence on Netflix have zeroed in on season six, which aired between July twenty sixteen and March twenty seventeen, as the moment things changed both on and off screen. One Reddit user wrote, I'm basing this on Mike and Rachel kissing and hugging once.
2:20 Despite some seriously intense moments in their story, Harvey and Mike have more sexual chemistry, and honestly, I'm rooting for them to make it. Another observed Megan's onscreen wardrobe becoming noticeably more conservative. Her hemlines grew even longer and her buttons more buttoned up on her shirts. Later in season six, no more lingering shots on her behind as she walked away too. Some fans noted that Rachel and Mike's chemistry seem to vanish altogether. One said, I agree on this. Their chemistry completely disappears, and to be honest, I never really thought they had a lot of it to begin with, but it almost looks like they want nothing to do with each other. Her stress over him going to prison is hardly believable. Megan and Harry first met in the summer of twenty six After just two dates, they took a five day trip to Batswana, a trip Harrier since described as the moment he knew Meghan was his soulmate.
3:07 While the couple's relationship wasn't made public until later that year, devoted viewers and now convinced the signs were already playing out in Rachel Zine's wardrobe dialogue and on screen romance. Whether intentional or not, fans believe Meghan's real life royal love story was already subtly reshaping her fictional one. Megan's debut Rose may have sold out within an hour of release, but not everyone's raising a glass and celebration. In a blunt first taste test, Daily Mail reported Jane Hurtz described the as ever wine is surprisingly underwhelming. Hertz writes, our first sip left a lot to be desired and honestly didn't taste like much. While the wine was noted for being smooth, it was also described as bland, watery, and overly acidic. Some colleagues even reported a somewhat uncomfortable sensation in the back of our throats after swallowing. In the end, the verdict was lukewarm at best, not bad, but not great. Overall, it was pretty commonplace, like a wine you would be served at a work happy hour. More Powace intest a moment. In London, there are reports regarding the long term planning for what will eventually be King Charles's funeral, and despite past tensions, Prince Harry and Meghan is said to be at the heart of those plans. According to The Telegraph, King Charles is determined to include his younger son and the Sussex family in the proceedings, which will, as his royal tradition, have been planned well in advance, were input from the Palace, police, military and the Church of England. The report stress that this has nothing to do with the King's current health. Should the worst occur, the plans are expected to mirror those seen after the death of Queen Elizabeth in twenty twenty two, ding a ceremonial procession through central London. Prince Harry would walk beside his brother Prince William, who by that time would have become King.
5:07 Harry and Meghan would reportedly be invited to take part in the family vigil at Westminster Hall. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, would also be offered a role in the funeral service and the committal at Saint George's Chapel in Windsor. The King is said to have requested changes to reflect his own values, such as the use of sustainable materials throughout the proceedings, aligning with his well known environmental principles. King Charles monarchy won't see an increase in its day to day allowance this year, but the royal household is still poised to receive a dramatic funding boost. According to release figures, the Sovereign grant, public money used to fund royal duties and maintain palaces, will surge by more than forty five million pounds or about sixty million dollars in the twenty twenty six twenty seven financial year. For now, the grant remained steady at around one hundred and ten million dollars, but thanks to record profits from offshore wind farms leased by the Crown Estate, that figure will jump to approximately one hundred and seventy million dollars next year and remain at that level into twenty twenty six twenty seven. The windfall is largely being earmarked for the opening renovation of Buckingham Palace, a decade long four hundred and seventy five million dollar refurbishment project. To date, three hundred and sixty seven million has already been spent, according to the Sovereign Grant Report published Tuesday. The Sovereign Grant, funded by taxpayers, covers the working cost to the Royal household, including official travel, staffing and the upkeep of occupied palaces.
6:23 It is calculated as a portion of profits from the Crown Estate and independently managed portfolio worth about twenty billion dollars, encompassing everything from prime real estate in central London to sea bets around England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The record breaking revenues and the latest Crown of State report one and a half billion dollars in that profit, were largely driven by what the Estate called an exceptional short term uplift from offshore wind leasing, though the grant is increasing, the monarchy also draws income from other sources. King Charles receives private income from the Duchy of Lancaster, while Prince William benefits from the Duchy of Cornwall. Meanwhile, a record number of visitors to royal resid this is brought in an additional twenty nine million dollars in the past year.
7:04 Yet not everyone is celebrating the rising royal revenues. The funding increases sparked criticism, particularly against the backdrop of a worsening cost of living crisis in the UK. According to government data, four and a half million children roughly one in three are now living in poverty, figure up by one hundred thousand from the previous year. Half a billion could go a long way to relieving some of that poverty, said Graham Smith, head of the anti monarchy campaign group Republic, in an interview with NBC News. That money is instead being spent on their personal lifestyles, helicopters and two dozen palatial homes. It's just criminal. Among the more visible expenses, Charles recently accepted delivery of two new helicopters to replace aging aircraft justified in the report as necessary for accessing remote regions. Meanwhile, the Royal Train, long a favorite a queeners of the second, will be decommissioned following a review into its cost and usage. The Sovereign Grant is reviewed every five years and will next be assessed through legislation in the twenty twenty six twenty twenty seven period to determine what level of public funding is appropriate going forward.
