Marius Borg Høiby Denies Drugging Accuser as “Rape” Searches Hit Court, While King Charles Gets Heckled Over Andrew

On Thursday, the trial of Marius Borg Hoiby entered its second day of testimony, with the focus turning sharply to allegations that one of the women who has accused him of rape was drugged before the alleged assault. Hoiby, aged twenty nine, returned to the witness stand to answer questions from prosecutors about events surrounding a twenty eighteen incident said to have taken place at the Crown Prince's family residence outside Oslo. The alleged victim has told the court she believes she was drugged and left unconscious during the encounter. Prosecutors directly asked Hoyby whether he had administered drugs to her. He responded clearly and unequivocally, saying he had never drugged her. He was then questioned about his knowledge of drugs capable of incapacitating a person, including sub distances such as ketamine. Hoiby acknowledged that he was aware of such drugs and said he could probably have attained them, but again denied never using them on anyone.

1:09 Thursday's testimony also addressed search terms found on Hoibe's mobile phone. Prosecutors highlighted searches that included words such as rape, asking whether this reflected a particular interest, Hoibi replied that he had looked up what he described as a lot of weird stuff, offering no further explanation. Observers noted he appeared tense during this exchange, at times of fiddling with a bracelet as he answered questions. The lawyer representing the alleged victim pressed Hoebe on a broader pattern raised by prosecutors, namely that several of the rape charges involved women who were allegedly asleep or otherwise than conscious at the time of the incidents. Asked how he explained this, Hoeby said he could not remember the specific twenty eighteen episode and therefore could not say whether consent had been present. He told the court that because he did not recall the moment in question, he did not know whether consent existed.

2:00 This testimony followed emotional scenes earlier in the trial, when Hoybe denied that videos found on his phone showed acts of rape and became visibly distressed while speaking about growing up under constant media attention. The trial continues to place significant strain on Norway's royal household. As proceedings unfolded. On Thursday, fresh opinion polls were published showing declining public support for the monarchy, with particular concern focused on Crown Princess Meta Marie's position as a future queen. One survey found that forty four percent of respondents believed she should not become queen, while just over one fifth consider her suitable for the role. Another poll showed that although a majority of Norwegian's still support retaining the monarchy, that support has fallen noticeably compared with last year, while support for a republic has increased.

2:52 Back in Britain, King Charles was hackled. The King and Queen were walking along Deadham's High Street in light drizzle, holding umbrellas as members of the public gathered behind barriers. As King Charles paused to greet people in the crowd, a man shouted Charles, Charles, have you pressurized the police to start investigating Andrew. The King did not respond. Moments later, police officers approached the man and escorted him away from the barriers. Shortly after, a reporter in the crowd attempted to question the King about his brother following the heckling incident. At that point, security moved the King across the road and the walkabout continued at a different location, away from the crowd. Earlier in the visit, the King and Queen had met with local community groups inside the son In Pub, Queen Camilla went into the kitchen, where she helped cut Raviola pastor while the King spoke with guests. The couple later listened to a performance by a school choir. King Charles then made a brief visit to the Essex Rose Tea House, where he unveiled a pluck and cut a cack.

Rhiannon Mills for Sky News writes, in a crowd of hundreds, two voices on this royal visit were inevitably end up grabbing some of the attention. A woman heckling about Epstein and a reporter asking a question, neither getting any kind of response from the King. He's been in this position many times over the years, scandals threatening to overshadow his engagements, his approach, and I've seen it on many occasions, don't answer, don't give the story further oxygen. The shouts are a story, but his response, should he give one, would be much bigger. That will frustrate those who believe the monarch should say more that the Institution has questions to answer about the Epstein files, and Andrew Maultebatan Windsor, who has always vigorously denied any accusations against him linked to that. From speaking to Pallace sources, they're clearly keen to make sure the public don't think they're burying their heads in the sand on this. Around seven minutes enter the program, archive footage shows Charles alongside his parents, Queen Elizabeth the Second and Prince Philip, as well as his siblings Princess Ann Edward Prince Andrew. The footage highlights the twelve year age gap between Charles and Andrew, with the future King visibly towering over his younger brother during a posed family moment. Charles is seen wearing a beige blazer and trousers, while Andrew appears in a yellow shirt and brown trousers. Andrew's relocation from Royal Lodge to the Sandringham estate has prompted protests near his new residence. Leaflets featuring his photograph, alongside allegations relating to his association with Jeffrey Epstein were placed on signs and posts along roads leading toward the Norfolk property.
