Charles Spencer Reveals Harry’s Diana Memoir Question; Wild Charles-Camilla Divorce Rumor Debunked
Charles Spencer says he has spoken with both Prince William and Prince Harry since publishing his controversial Princess Diana memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister. Spencer revealed Harry had one particular concern, asking whether the book contained anything that would embarrass him. Spencer says he deliberately kept both brothers out of the project and did not ask either of them to approve the book. He has not revealed what William said about it.
Meanwhile, the internet has produced another spectacular royal rumor: claims that King Charles and Queen Camilla are divorcing because of a mysterious “secret dossier.” Snopes investigated the story and found no evidence supporting the allegations, no credible reporting of a divorce and no announcement from Buckingham Palace.
There is also a more serious story involving King Charles and his longtime friend, explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes. The Telegraph reports that Charles tried to reach out after friends raised concerns about Fiennes’s wellbeing, but his attempt to make contact through Fiennes’s wife was unsuccessful.
Plus, Princess Anne meets endurance fundraiser Sir Kevin Sinfield, not Jerry Seinfeld, although we briefly got very excited. Princess Beatrice’s dinner with Spotify executive Dustee Jenkins sparks speculation about crisis-management advice for the York family, William and Catherine hold separate behind-the-scenes meetings at Windsor Castle, and an English-style pub named the King’s Arms is coming to Transylvania in honor of King Charles.
Questions this episode answers: What did Prince Harry ask Charles Spencer about his Princess Diana memoir? Has Prince William spoken to Charles Spencer about Swan Song? Did Harry or William approve Charles Spencer’s book? Are King Charles and Queen Camilla getting divorced? What is the truth behind the royal “secret dossier” rumor? Why did King Charles try to contact Sir Ranulph Fiennes? Did Princess Anne meet Jerry Seinfeld? And why is a pub in Transylvania being named after King Charles?

0:03 Kalaroga Shark Media. Hello and welcome to Palace Intrigue. I am your host, Mark Francis. King Giles tried to offer help to his longtime friend, Sir Ranulf Fiennes, after being alerted to concerns about the explorer's well-being, but was unable to make contact through his wife, according to the Telegraph. The newspaper reports that the king's equerry approached a friend of Sir Ranulf, to ask how Charles could send a message, the friend, fellow adventurer Anton Bowering, supplied a telephone number for Sir Ranulf's wife, Louise Millington Coates. Bowering says her response was angry and that she told him to stop intervening.
0:47 Sir Ranulf, 82, has not appeared in public for two years. The Telegraph reports that his wife holds lasting power of attorney and that friends and relatives say they have not been told where he is currently receiving care. The King's involvement began after Bowering wrote to his private secretary, Sir Clive Alderton, in February last year. Bowering took part in the Transglobe expedition with Sir Ranulf between 1979 and 1982 when Charles was its patron. In his letter, Bowering said, Very little information about him is forthcoming, and his many friends are concerned about him. More than I cannot say, but I just thought that His Majesty would like to know. Later that month, the king's then-equary, Commander William Thornton, contacted him.
1:31 Boring told the Telegraph he said the king was most concerned and would really like to write to Ran, Louise and their daughter Elizabeth to express his concern and see if there was anything he could do to help. According to Boring, the equary asked for Louise's number and said, I can give her a ring and if it's a no, we can let the matter drop. About an hour later, Boring says he received a text from Millington Coates saying, I'm going to be changing my phone number because of you. There is nothing further that we need to help you with. Thank you. Bowring apologized and explained why he had passed on her details. I really thought that Rand would be thrilled to know that the king cared about him. The palace will be completely discreet and not trouble you again if you don't want them to. They were being kind and thoughtful. I am deeply saddened. In a further message quoted by the newspaper, Millington Coates threatened to contact a solicitor and police if Bowring continued. You haven't listened to anything I've explained to you about Rand's feelings about his condition.
2:26 You are causing him immense distress. Nobody else is. Back off. The Telegraph understands that she declined to put the King in contact with her husband. The dispute has since prompted calls for an investigation into Sir Ranulf's well-being. Friends have reportedly called on the Office of the Public Guardian to intervene. His stepson, Alex Millington-Coates, who is estranged from his mother, has also launched a fundraiser for a legal challenge to her control of Sir Ranulf's care. Charles Spencer says he has spoken to both William and Harry since the publication of his Diana memoir, but has not asked either nephew to approve it. Appearing on CBS Morning, Spencer was asked by Gayle King whether he had spoken to the brothers after the book came out. Yes, I have, he replied.
3:10 Asked whether they approve of Swan Song, Diana, My Sister, he said, I don't know. I haven't asked about approval. Harry was sort of like, Is there anything in there that would be embarrassing to me? I said, absolutely not. I'm very specific about people's privacy. I decided not to have anyone involved in the book, so no one knew about it except my wife, obviously, and the publishers. I didn't tell any of the family until just before it was released publicly as a thing because I didn't want anyone to think, particularly with Harry, who people know I had to stay in the summer, that he was in any way involved in this. It was really important for me that they weren't. Spencer did not disclose what William said during their conversation. claims that King Charles and Queen Camilla are divorcing over a secret dossier. False, according to a new fact check from Snopes. The rumor has circulated in YouTube videos alleging that Charles discovered documents revealing a plot by Camilla to damage the royal family's reputation. One channel, Vintage Exposé, presented the story as the end of their 20-year marriage. Its description claimed to draw on palace insiders' intelligence briefings and confidential testimony. Snopes found no evidence supporting those claims, no credible news coverage of a divorce, and no announcement from the royal household. In the Express, Adam Toms writes, You have to feel for Prince William. He has to deal with the mother of all irritating younger brothers, throwing a huge tantrum in recent years. It is sad to see the siblings fall out. Their mother would doubtless be heartbroken were she still alive. I was recently told,
4:41 as much by people living where the princess grew up, But the Prince of Wales had no option but to snub Harry, who had acted in a reckless and selfish manner toward his own family. Just think of how strange it would have looked to have met with him and embraced him after he tried to wound your closest relatives and the firm you will soon head. It is not just personal, it is about the future of one of the UK's most important and historic institutions. William is focusing on getting on with the job and preparing himself and his children to succeed Charles. for the monarchy will survive and continue to be an important part of British public life long after Harry and Meghan's moaning. More palace in just a moment. For a moment, we thought Princess Anne had met with Seinfeld, which would have been all kinds of entertaining. We read it wrong. She met with Sinfield.
5:31 Sir Kevin Sinfield has tackled seven ultra-marathons in seven days. Meeting him at the University of York's Sports Centre on Monday, Anne agreed with the fundraiser that Fun Run was something of a contradiction. I can run, but I don't do it for fun. I'm past that stage, she said. Sir Kevin told her she was welcome to join at any point. When a member of his team joked that nobody had yet accompanied them for a leg on horseback, Anne laughed. That would be nice. The visit came on day two of his final annual endurance challenge for Motor Neurone Disease Charities, inspired by his friend and former Leeds Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow, who died in 2024. Sir Kevin and his team have raised more than £ 11 million for the MND community since his first challenge in 2020. Asked about his nutrition along the way, Sir Kevin offered to let her in on his secret, bacon butties, which sounds like something Kramer might recommend to Jerry. What's the deal with Princess Beatrice? She and husband Edoardo Mapelli-Mozzi joined Spotify executive Dusty Jenkins for a birthday dinner in London. prompting speculation about whether her communications expertise could prove useful to the York family. The Daily Express reports that the group dined at Dorian in Notting Hill, where Jenkins was seen blowing up birthday candles.
6:48 Someone who knows Jenkins told the Mail on Sunday, she's an old hand at crisis management. Dusty would be a natural person for Beatrice or any of the Yorks to turn to for reputational management. Kate met the Royal Foundation's chief executive at Windsor Castle on Monday while William chaired a separate meeting about the Duchy of Cornwall. Both engagements appeared in the court circular with no photographs released. Sarah Henwood took over the Royal Foundation from Amanda Barry. In February, William's meeting also at Windsor was with the Prince's Council, the board of the Duchy of Cornwall. A British filmmaker is restoring a crumbling building in Transylvania as an English-style pub named in honour of King Charles. Charlie Otley plans to call it the King's Arms with draft beer, guest rooms and English menu and a fire to help customers through the long Romanian winters. The 120-year-old building is in a village in the Carpathian Mountains. Speaking to TVP World, he said the name was a thank you for Charles' support of the country. Over the years, the King has done so much for Romania, he said. He's done everything he can to extol the beauty of Romania and its biodiversity, its May meadows and its wildflowers and its historic landscapes.
7:58 So for me, Calling it the King's Arms is just really a thank you to him. These are long, hard winters here, and it's nice to have a roaring fire in a place where you can have a pint.
