Camilla Opens Up About Charles’s Cancer as Andrew Rejects Balmoral and Sarah Eyes Portugal

Mark France's Queen Camilla has spoken with unusual candor about the moment King Charles was diagnosed with cancer, saying her husband was determined from the start to face the illness in his own way. In a new film marking the thirtieth anniversary of Maggie's Cancer charity, Camilla recalled Charles's reaction after learning he had the disease. She said, look at my husband. Nothing stopped him. He just said, this is my way. I'm going to cope with it. Charles has been undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer since early twenty twenty four. Camilla also described how suddenly personally subject became after years of visiting cancer patients and their families through her work with Maggie's. She said, it has never really come back to roost at home and suddenly your husband is diagnosed and you, thank goodness, been talking to all these people and now I'm the one with the same relation who's got to help to look after my poor husband and try and understand it all.

1:08 One of the most striking parts of Camilla's account concerns and engagement she carried out in January twenty twenty four. On January thirty first, she opened a new Maggie's Cancer Support center, the Royal Free Hospital in London. At that point, Camilla already knew Charles had cancer. The public did not. Camilla said, I remember coming to Maggie's just after the King being diagnosed. Nobody could say anything at the time. That was quite difficult. I almost said something, but you know, I felt that it wasn't that time to say. I looked at everybody who was suffering in all the relations and I think it made me realize even more how important these places were. Speaking with Maggie's chief executive, Dame Laura Lee, Camilla admitted just how difficult it was to keep the news private. I was just hoping to let it out, but obviously I couldn't. That knowledge also changed the way Camilla interacted with patients and relatives. During the visit.
