BONUS Watch the Sword! King Charles Pulls Off the Ultimate Royal Show for Trump

King Charles understood the assignment. In a display of peak royal pageantry, the King welcomed President Donald Trump to Windsor Castle for a full-blown state visit — complete with gold-adorned carriages, bagpipes, a 41-gun salute, a historic document viewing, and an impressively choreographed gift exchange.

Melania’s mysterious wide-brimmed hat stole attention, Kate’s heels sunk into the grass, William was charming (but probably still annoyed about Andrew), and Trump said “Wow… that’s so amazing” more than once.

Meanwhile, outside Windsor’s walls, protesters made their voices heard — and inside, Piers Morgan and Tom Sykes offered wildly different takes on the day’s festivities.

0:03 Caloroga Shark Media that lo and welcome to Palace. Intrigu game your host mark for answers. King Charles earned his money on Wednesday. Well maybe not all of it, but he understood the job at hand and excelled at it as he put on a show for President Trump. The day began with pomp and ceremony as Marine one touched down a few minutes behind schedule on the Royal estate. A grand procession followed, with President Trump riding alongside King Charles and the Irish State Coach, the carriage richly adorned with gold, a detail the President is famously fond of.

0:45 The First Lady traveled in the Scottish State Coach, with Queen Camilla wearing a wide brimmed purple hat that matched the President's tie and echoed the memorable hatchee war during his second inauguration. As the carriages made their way into Windsor's Central Quadrangle, they were met by music from British military bands and bagpipes courtesy of the Scots Guards, perhaps a nod to Trump's Scottish heritage and his golf courses in Turnbury and Aberdeen. Once dismounted, the President and the King inspected the honoured guard. Trumpet times stepped ahead of the King, who gestured for him to lead. The pair laughed and chatted, with Trump later commenting, He's been a friend of mine for a long time. Inside Windsor Castle, the delegation to it a special display of artifacts from the Royal collection, carefully curated to highlight the long standing alliance between the UK and the US. Viewing documents related to the Declaration of Independence and early transatlantic communications, Trump remarked, Wow, that's so amazing. King Charles added, that's fascinating. In a private luncheon formal gift exchange, both sides offered deeply symbolic presence.

1:52 Trump received a leather bound volume commemorating the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, along with the Union flag that flew over Buckingham Palace on the day of his twenty twenty five inauguration. Millennia, Trump was gifted a personalized Anna Hindmarch handbag and a silver and enamel bowl bearing the late Queen Elizabeth the Second's cipher. In return, the Trump's presented King Charles with a replica of the Eisenhower sword, intended as a tribute to the wartime partnership between the two nations, and Queen Camilla with a Tiffany and Company brooch made of diamonds and rubies, a nod to both diplomacy and the birthstones of the two women. Though the visit has been carefully managed, protests have taken place outside the Royal perimeter. Demonstrators in Windsor displayed sciens and images, underscoring that Trump's popularity in Britain remains limited. However, the day's events were designed to keep the President largely shielded from such public unrest. Eyes were on Prince William, coming off his frosty behavior to Prince Andrew on Tuesday. We'll get to that story tomorrow. While the King was acting as master of ceremonies, how would the heir with low tolerance for hogwash behave? Upon arriving, President Trump shook hands with Prince William and affectionately patted his arm, saying hello, my friend, how are you. Moments later, upon greeting Kate, the President appeared to compliment her, saying so beautiful. As the Prince and princess made their way across the lawn, Kate turned to William and quietly remarked,

3:25 my heels sinking, William glancing down with concern of a sweet response, are you okay? Though following the formal lunch at Windsor Castle, the Prince and Princess of Wales held a private meeting with the Trumps. The encounter took place behind closed doors within the castle and was described by the Palaces warm and friendly. No further details were disclosed regarding the nature of the conversation between the two couples, and the Palace has not released any photographs or readoubts from the meeting, which in many ways speaks volumes, as William is very particular about who is photographed with and is said to be very unhappy. He was captured standing near Andrew at the funeral. Some other string notes from the day, The joint F thirty five fly passed over Windsor Castle was canceled because of poor weather conditions. The Red Arrows did make their scheduled flight, prompting a smile from the President. Princess Anne did not attend the lunch in the state dining room. Piers Morgan said, it's a statement by the royal family going to roll out the ultimate red carpet and again, just distress. I've not seen this done for any other world leader. This is unprecedented.

4:33 Trump was shown a historic letter from President Abraham Lincoln to Queen Victoria, written in eighteen sixty two following the death of her husband, Prince Albert. The letter, described by royal curators as a defining moment in the long standing UK US special relationship, expresses Lincoln's condolences and the sympathies of the American people during Britain's time of mourning. Upon seeing the original document, President Trump was visibly impressed, remarking that is so amazing. That's the real deal, as he leaned in for a closer look. More on palace in just a Moment, A brief but telling moment between King Charles and President Trump was caught on camera by Royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills during this afternoon's state visit proceedings at Windsor Castle as the pair walked together along the line of the Honored Guard in the castle quadrangle. The King paused at the end of the robe beside a trooper holding a ceremonial sword with a subtle nudge and a smile, Charles appeared to say watch the sword, prompting a chuckle from the US President. Moments later, the soldiers expertly twirled the weapon, drawing a visible delight from both leaders. President Trump appeared to exchange a few words with the trooper before he and the King turned away and made their way back toward the castle. Alistair Bruce, waiting for Sky News, said, any nation can hold a state visit, but what is unique about Britain remains our internet nationally respected pageantry, even down to the very invitation. There is a very precise

6:06 format for inviting someone on a state visit. An invite must be issued, established by international law, written on a special gold edged paper embossed with a golden coat of arms. That is issued, it forms part of a historic archive. Trump's mother would cut out and keep in a scrap book containing pictures of the young Princess Elizabeth and her sister Margaret Rose. It was an error before endless celebrity news, a time when public life revolved around the royals, the war and survival, and the President loved his mother like many men do, so these things mean an enormous amount to him. When the horses go back to the stables and the carriages are put away. The impact of this visit will remain fresh in the mind of a president who may feel his nation and maybe even himself, have been affirmed by their ally. Quite apart from the politics.

6:53 Although much will be said and written on that, there is one great hope for any state visit that the country so many might included have fought for, can be safer and more successful. As a result of the pomp and pageantry on display, Milania Trump made quite the entrance at Winds, addressed in a timeless dark gray suit paired with a dramatic, wide brimmed purple hat, one that largely obscured her face from view. Celebrity stylist and Vogue contributor Mary and Qui explained, Millennia's hat is not by chance, the hat with the wide brim that hides her faces, pointing to a stance where she wants all eyes on her husband and his agenda. While here adding another layer of symbolism, the hat's deep purple hue perfectly matched the president's tie. It's a nod to her support for her husband's agenda during the state visit, Quai explained, while the dignified events played out in Windsor's walls. Outside that the mood was more divided. Thousands gathered in central London for a larger demonstration organized by the Stop Trump Coalition, protesting what they called an undeserved state visit. This is not done in our name, the group stated. More protests aberupted near Windsor, including a controversial projection of Trump's image alongside Jeffrey Epstein's onto the castle facade on Tuesday night, and we'll cover that one more tomorrow. In The Royalist, Tom Sykes was none too impressed, writing the United Kingdom shamelessly prostrated itself at the feet of Donald Trump on Wednesday morning,

8:25 throwing a welcoming party for his state visit at Windsor so lavish it looked less like the diplomacy than ritual self humiliation. No foreign leader has ever been greeted with this degree of ceremonial excess. The choreography was on the scale of Elizabeth the Second's funeral. Yet this was not grief but a spectacle, a genuflection stage for a man many Britains see as a wrecking ball aimed at the very post war settlement the country once helped design. Nothing about today's welcome was subtle from the moment Marine one touched down in the grounds of Windsor Castle at twelve fourteen pm. Trump Millennia were greeted not by a minister or a courtier, but by the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, who walked them up to Charles and Camilla as a forty one gun salute thundered across Windsor. Simultaneously, a second salute shook the air from the Tower of London.

9:15 Every cannon, every plume, every polished boot was timed to inflate Trump's sense of himself and dazzled he was. Trump beamed beside Camilla, basking in the regalia he had spent a lifetime counterfeiting in goldleaf interiors and Ursat's titles. Now the real thing was being presented to him, free of charge, by a state once thought to possess self respect. And there you have it.
