According to a report by Semaphore, Mark Giaducci, who recently succeeded Redika Jones as editor in chief, objected to a mention of the sisters in a story about their father's ties to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Gioducci allegedly asked whether it was relevant to include Beatrice and Eugenie in a piece about their father's conduct.

The spokesperson also pointed out that the publication had recently published the first excerpt from Virginia Jeffrey's posthumous memoir. Semaphore noted that Gioducci's close social ties to members of the royal circle, including the daughters of longtime Conde Nast executive Annawin Tour, had already raised eyebrows when he was appointed. The thirty six year old former Vogue creative officer is said to have cultivated a wide network of celebrity connections, including friendships within the British Royals.
