Interview with a beautiful artist and founder of Urban Sketchers, Marie Judith Jean-Louis ("MJ")

MJ is an award-winning artist, working mostly in acrylic and watercolour. She’s intrigued by the nuances between looking and seeing, believing that we don’t see things as they are, but as we are. She’s also interested in the participation of the viewers as an important part of her creative process.

MJ founded the Toronto Urban Sketchers (now Urban Sketchers Toronto) in 2013 and managed it for 5 years. She also led and organized several group exhibitions with the group and published an illustrated book called The Disappearing Landmarks of Toronto.
