I'm a wife, mother, GiGi to six beautiful grandchildren, Registered Nurse, lifelong learner, nature lover, mountain lover, hiker, explorer and much more.

My husband and I have enjoyed hiking through the years, but in 2016 we took our first Appalachian Trail backpacking trip from Wayah Bald to the NOC. We spent two nights and 3 days on the trail. It was quite an experience that was a mixture of love and hate and the beginning of my need to be out on the trail.
Since 2016, we have sectioned hiked more than 300 miles of the AT. Our goal was to hike a section of the AT through all 14 states.
As of right now, I have no desire to do a thru hike of the AT, however, after completing two states and working on others, my goal has changed and I know I will be able to section hike the entire AT one day.

For me, being on the trail is liberating as I slow down, breathe deeply, take in nature, and not having a care in the world except getting to the next camp site. Backpacking has taught me to be stronger - physically and mentally, resilient, live small, and enjoy life more.
