Never stop, Mike. Or, definitely stop, but not until the love you give this starts to fade
Mike Birbiglia listens, closely. He’s funny, and his guests are too, but what makes this such a consistent joy is Mike’s curiosity and warmth. I know it’s his brand. But my bet is it’s who he actually is.
So many emotions
If you enjoy learning about the creative process and human experiences, take a listen to Working It Out. Excellent interviews, so many emotions; it’s not just all about the laughs, but the stories that brought some of our funniest comedians and talented celebs to where they are now. Absolutely LOVE this podcast! My top 3 episodes so far: Chris Redd, Ryan Hamilton, and Zarna Garg.
Fabulous show always but especially today with Ryan Hamilton‼️
One of my favorite podcasts. Love hearing about comedians process
Improving life
After 10 years in L.A., I'm now stuck in Missouri. Mike feels like one of my best friends - even though he doesn't know me. Listening to this podcast improves life in the middle of the country.
Genuine Connections, Fascinating Stories
Mike has such genuine connections with so many creative heavyweights on this podcast, it seems everyone truly respects and admired and engages with him - great to see this side of writing and comedy and hear wild stories surface up the way they only can with someone like Mike at the helm.
Excellent podcast
I’m not a creative; just a simple man who enjoys some comedy. What I do love, though, is listening to peoples processes, and this podcast nails it. The absolute best compliment I can give Mike won’t make any sense to him, but here it goes. I love to fly fish, and I consume all things fly fishing, but since I’ve found this podcast, Tom Rosenbauer’s has been on hold. Thanks for a great show!
Intimacy
More Atsuko please. Abbi Jacobsen episode also great. Easy to spot Intimacy, friendship when you hear. Also Seth Barrish, Sam morril-best brainstorming happens with your bffs
Love the process
I’ve listened to every episode, simply because each one has something unique and valuable to offer! Mike’s indefatigable love of comedy, paired with his knowledge and inquisitiveness, is so inspiring. Listening has been a reminder to me that the process, and the joy one finds in it, is what truly matters when creating art. I’ve laughed and learned something from every one of the conversations, but my favorites have been Jack Antonoff (“we love to laugh, Mike”) and Wendy McNaughton. Thank you, Mike, for what you do, and for sharing your talent with us listeners!
How the sausage is made
What a cool concept—letting people listen in on your joke writing process. Pretty generous of Mike to share this vulnerable aspect of comedy with us. Love the show.
More, please!
I got to see “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend” in NYC and loved it. I came late to this podcast and ended up bingeing the past 2+ years over 2 months. I’m all caught up now and very sad that I have to wait for the next episode. Mike Birbiglia is hilarious in an honest, sweet, true way and is so generous with his guests.
You can work things out listening to Working It Out
As a recovering perfectionist, creative arts therapist and performer using storytelling and improv to help people shape their lives and discover their creativity any point in life this podcast is such a gift!! It’s entertainment from beginning to end and is a window into the creative process that is so helpful to people who tend to judge their own ideas and original takes on life based on the polished versions of comics and storytellers they admire. These conversations inspire and inform. I learn so much and tell my clients and storytelling students to listen. And it is always funny!!!
Spotlighting Female Comedians
I love discovering new (to me) female comedians. Hearing their voices, so rarely spotlighted, reignites my love for comedy.
Don’t miss it!!!!
As a Working it Out listener from the start, it was AMAZING to be in the audience for The Old Man and the Pool! Do not miss this incredible show! As Mike says: Tell your friends! Tell your enemies!
Love this podcast
I am so invested In this podcast! It inspires me to be creative, it’s hilarious. Mike somehow takes us all along with him while he creates and makes us feel part of it all.
Interesting and Delightful
This show is such a treat. It's fun and really interesting as well. The discussion and questions are great and then the part where they work on/discuss jokes is also very interesting. It's cool to hear a bit of that process.
😻
It’s just Birbigs being Berbigs. So it’s good.
First hand comedy
I love to hear the beginning process of new material and working out bits with other comedians. Listening to this podcast makes me feel like I am hanging out with the greats and learning all about comedy.
Very enjoyable and thought-provoking
I get a lot out of these eps. Thank you.
One of my go-to, favorite podcasts!
Intimate, honest conversations with some of the most interesting comedians in the business. The best part is there Is no PR canned answers, nobody is on here selling anything, just genuine, heartfelt conversations about one of my favorite art forms- stand up comedy. Great format! We get to see the process of how comedians work out material. Must listen for any comedy fans!
Easy listening
Makes my commute go so much faster.
All things Birbigs
I love Mike Birbiglia and anything he puts out. I have listened to this show since it started. He had such thoughtful questions for guests and has introduced me to such interesting comics like Zarna Garg. I was so excited he had Chris Gethard on the show as he is another one of my faves. Thanks for all your do!
Thanks Elon!
As a recent Twitter exile/ Free Bird I found myself with some time on my hands and in need of some cruelty-free talk and laughter. I was thrilled to find Mike Birbiglia's Working it Out podcast--it is the perfect antidote to the angst and dark political times we find ourselves in. In addition to comedy analysis and great conversation, the final segment featuring an organization to consider supporting is brilliant!
Mike is a good guy
I have enjoyed all of his stuff out there and comedy/storytelling style. Even though on the episode today they talked about not enjoying the labels they are given I like the clean comic element! I’m bad at reviews but podcasters ask so…😊👍🏼
LISTEN
Every episode is unique, heartfelt, and poignant. My favorite podcast ever!! A must for artists, creatives, actors, writers, or anyone that just wants a good laugh.
