Truly a gem
This is the only man comedian I can stand to listen to for more then 10 minutes at a time. He’s thoughtful and kind. Notice the way he speaks to notwhitedude comics vs the way others do. Palpably a good guy.

Love the podcast!
This podcast… I keep telling all the people, I love it. I am a comedy nerd and love the opportunity to get to listen in on in depth conversations about it. I also learn a ton that I am hoping to get to put to use. To the outside world, I’m a middle aged mom who works at a fitness club by day and cleans and does laundry and takes her kid places at night. Inside I am right there with you, planning, writing bits, creating, visualizing the two worlds colliding. Lots of love Mike. Thanks for your consistency in keeping this going. -Christine

Nice!!!
I’m so glad I decided to give up true crime and remember to smile again! I appreciate you! I’m rarely excited about anything so thanx man! Your wife and guests are so entertaining thanx to them. And all the behind-the-scenes (visual podcast scenes?) Sure why not!) team that gets it to my ears for smile refills!!!

Excellent! Now see Mike Perform Live!
It’s really cool to listen to Working it Out and later, forgetting a joke you heard worked out with a talented guest, hearing the evolution of the joke in an Actual Live Performance as I just did at Mesa Arts Center in AZ. Listening to the podcast show gave a background to the art and an extra dimension to the already multilayered and expertly-performed live show. I laughed the whole time, sometimes so hard I cried, and was so glad I spent all that money. Go see Mike perform live!! Thanks for the great show, laughter truly is medicine.

The best

Hang Out With Mike
I first heard Mike Birbiglia when he described the workings of a pizza pillow over the radio. Then I watched him explain why Cats-achusetts was simultaneously funny and not funny from stage. And now, through the medium of the podcast, I get to sit with him in his studio while he workshops jokes with some of my other favorite comedians. Thank you Mike for this gift to the world!

Players Theatre (Comedy Cellar neighbor)
Hi Mike,
Your podcast has become my go to program in the car. It’s such a fantastic show every time. I’m the owner of the Players Theatre in NYC. Last week I was entering the theatre and you walked by on your way to the Comedy Cellar. Wanted to tell you right then I just parked my car and was listening to your show and you made traffic enjoyable but I wasn’t so bold. Better late than never. Keep doing what you’re doing. -Michael

Much better than murder
This podcast has helped me listen to less murder podcasts. Oddly I find it help with anxiety. Also your wife’s poetry is very enjoyable. Favorite episode so far is the one you did with her laughing one moment crying the next. Beautiful poems sprinkled with comedy. Thank you for sharing.

Delightful
If I had to sum up this podcast in one word, it would be delightful. I'm a huge Mike Birbiglia fan, and this podcast is Mike in a nutshell - not only needing out about the process of standup comedy, but diving into the people behind the jokes as well. I've laughed, I've cried, and my friend and I will be trying our hand at some open mics this year thanks to tips we picked up from listening :)

favorite podcast
long time listener first time reviewer, after loving “the old ones,” i was very excited birbigs launched a COVID podcast. this has fueled walks and subway rides since the beginning - as always extremely poignant and laugh out loud funny. i also attended the “pizza show” as well as ”old man” at lincoln center, as we had been “working it out” for 2+ years on the pod - i was pleasantly surprised when the vast vast majority of content was new to me! this man is a genius. bonus points for making my mom cry laughing the entire show after having an especially hard day. fun for you and your partners and your parents! 10/10 recommend

Mike is the best!
I absolutely love Mike. I have seen him perform live a few times and they have been by far my favorite live entertainment experiences. I love the podcast as well and listen to them all. But seriously if you have a chance to see one of his shows, do it. I highly recommend! I love him! i mean, he seems cool.

Favorite podcast
I’ve listened to every episode since it started! I started watching Mikes IG lives during the pandemic and followed him over to the podcast. It’s my favorite podcast- I love the in depth interviews that really focus on creative process. I love the working it out or from the notebook part as well- it was so nice to follow along through out the making of the Old Man and the Pool. My favorite part are the slow round questions- I follow along every time!

Like Eavesdropping but better
If you like to hear how creative people use their art to process their human experience give this a listen. It feels like overhearing two friends have a great conversation and you will laugh and maybe cry but mostly laugh!
