Watch "Mike Birbiglia: The Good Life" on Netflix

Listener Reviews

All good stuff
I listened to this initially as a fan, but now I find it to be a very great tool as a budding writer. I love the Craig Mazin episode!
Pick your favorite comedian, then listen to that episode
Every episode is outstanding, so you can’t go wrong listening to this podcast. Some of my favorite guests are David Sedaris, Taylor Tomlinson, Atsuko Okatsuka, Nathan Lane, Gary Gulman, and of course Joey Bag-o-Donuts.
Love Comedy
Gary Gulman and Tig Notaro are tied for my favorite interviews. If you love the process of comedy you’ll love this show. Thanks, Mike.
Inside Scoop of the Comedy writing process
This is one of my favorite podcasts—Mike Birbiglia is one of my favorite comedians. His work is thoughtful, clever, personal and heartfelt yet I’m laughing the whole time. As an Indianapolis native, I love getting a heads up on when he is coming to town. The best episodes of this podcast are ones where Mike and his guest really dig into the creative process of their comedy and workshop their jokes. Ira Glass, John Mulaney, Iliza Shlesinger jump out for that. Recent episodes of Bert Kreischer and Ray Romano stand out for that as well—but don’t be fooled by the title, sometimes they just don’t really work out anything and it turns into a more typical podcast interview with a comedian. Those are my least favorite episodes. My favorite question he asks is “what are you working on right now?” I think some guests don’t always want to answer that though. Still 5 out of 5!
I feel like a fly on the wall
…of Mike and his friends talking, catching up, and hashing out some jokes. Too much fun! Mulaney, Kroll… the list goes on and on for favorite episodes.
I love this podcast
But I loved it even more when Mike was only sponsored by cereal and soda
Just great
I adore this podcast. Mike is funny and kind. I feel like I’m just hanging out listening to good friends crack me up. I’ve also discovered some other amazing comedians who I now follow. Thank you!!
The Indian Entertainment Industry | Authenticity
I'm listening to the Vir Das episode for the first time. I'm broadened to learn a bit about the entertainment industry in India. My favorite moment so far was when Mike outlined his understanding of Vir's career progression. Vir responded, "That is a very flattering way to put it. Let me tell you the truth." What a great reminder that how things look on the outside may be so different to how they feel on the inside. Great episode: Thank you both!
My Favorite Podcast!
Mike is a fantastic interviewer. The podcast never fails to brighten my mood. Always hilarious, interesting, and informative. Often touching. I am a huge fan of story telling and stand-up. This podcast feels like it was made for me. A huge comfort during the depths of Covid and a highlight of my week now. Thank you! And, Mike, please bring your next show to Portland, Maine.
Can't wait for new episodes!
Even if you are not involved in comedy professionally, this is one of the best (and most entertaining) podcasts around. When I discovered it I was thrilled to have a big backlog of episodes to listen to! Now that I am caught up, I go back to my favorites again and again - Ira Glass, Larry Wilmore, Pete Holmes, Nick Kroll, Ryan Hamilton, Zarna Garg - there are so many great ones! Hey, since we are working it out, where can we send you tags if we come up with them? Thanks Mike - love your work.
Good therapy thank you
Laughter is the best medicine. Thank You for providing a weekly dose. Been a fan for a while, keep up the Groovy work sir.✌🏻🌈✌🏻

I laugh out loud listening to this podcast at my boring desk job. Awesome guests, funny tangents, love the story sharing, and so much creativity
Happy birthday rig Atari!
Thanks for nothing autocorrect and happy birthday tug nation. This podcast brightens my day and makes me snort in public. Nick Kroll ep is a gem among gems.
Happy Belated Birthday, Tig Notaro!
This podcast is excellent for rabbits, as well as unsavory types like Nick Kroll. 5 stars.
Mike Birbiglia: great comedian, great interviewer
Mike! My man! I love you soo much.I love you so much that I was willing to risk my 18yo daughter’s disdain, and introduce her to your work. She listened to your podcast. She watched “The New One”. She was so complimentary. She said, and I quote, “he is among the top five men that I would feel safe with”…she’s very intuitive. But my real man crush is Jack Antonoff. Imagine how excited I was when I found out that you were friends. I would imagine you two at lunch each week saying witty and insightful things that were only shared with each other , and the playing ultimate frisbee in Central Park. This would bring me such joy.BUT, I must now defend my man Jack. He wrote you such a beautiful theme song. I find myself humming it sometimes at random, whether or not there are new Working It Outs to listen to. Here’s the thing though, are you still working it out with your guests? When Jimmie Kimmel gave you grief about not “working it out”, I wanted to leap up and defend you. I could have given him so many examples where he was wrong. But now, I am beginning to think that he was clairvoyant. Less and less “working it out”seems to happen on your show. And ok, that’s fine, I guess. The show’s still great, and you’re still great. But, poor Jack. You’ve turned his beautiful gift into a lie.
A chat with funny friends
I looks forward to new episodes every week. I love getting to know Mike’s guests, and invariably end up cackling out loud many times throughout each episode. The chats are intimate and fun and enlightening. One of my favorite podcasts!
Truly a gem
This is the only man comedian I can stand to listen to for more then 10 minutes at a time. He’s thoughtful and kind. Notice the way he speaks to notwhitedude comics vs the way others do. Palpably a good guy.
Love this podcast definitely work a listen
Try nick kroll or tig notaro episodes!
Love the podcast!
This podcast… I keep telling all the people, I love it. I am a comedy nerd and love the opportunity to get to listen in on in depth conversations about it. I also learn a ton that I am hoping to get to put to use. To the outside world, I’m a middle aged mom who works at a fitness club by day and cleans and does laundry and takes her kid places at night. Inside I am right there with you, planning, writing bits, creating, visualizing the two worlds colliding. Lots of love Mike. Thanks for your consistency in keeping this going. -Christine
Nice!!!
I’m so glad I decided to give up true crime and remember to smile again! I appreciate you! I’m rarely excited about anything so thanx man! Your wife and guests are so entertaining thanx to them. And all the behind-the-scenes (visual podcast scenes?) Sure why not!) team that gets it to my ears for smile refills!!!
