Speaker 1: Morning Run with Amy and TJ and iHeartRadio Podcast. Good morning, everyone, and welcome to today's Morning Run.

00:00:09
Speaker 2: It is Wednesday, June twenty fourth.

00:00:11
Speaker 3: I'm Amy Robot and I'm TJ Holmes, And for the first time in a while, we did not stay up and watch the new episode of Love Island on the night that it aired. But why do I still feel exhausted? This didn't worry. I went to bed early and it didn't help.

00:00:26
Speaker 1: I know. I'm surprised you did fall asleep at seven pm, which you needed, and on the couch then crawled into bed. I fell asleep probably round nine, right when the show was starting.

00:00:38
Speaker 2: But yeah, I don't know. I thought maybe you'd get a little extra bump today.

00:00:43
Speaker 3: But I guess I'm missing Love Island. I don't have my extra Love Island energy this morning. I guess that's what happened. I'm so worked up about Casey and I couldn't sleep.

00:00:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, you were worried about what was happening.

00:00:54
Speaker 3: What nasty ass thing he was doing on the show last night.

00:00:57
Speaker 1: Z We'll be turning it on in just a moment and giving you an updates shortly.

00:01:01
Speaker 3: Yes, we'll be with you about that shortly. But yes, this Morning Run, on this Wednesday, we're gonna be making stops in several places across the country, including making a stop on the pitch in Houston. We'll make a stop in Disneyland, making a stop at the gas pump at a Florida execution chamber as well. But Robes, let's start this well, you know what, before that, there is a story, folks, you need to stick around for. Robes. I didn't look at it. She's been talking about this story for the past couple days. But there's apparently a guy who might be the most annoying guy in the world to me.

00:01:31
Speaker 1: Yes, and so I had a blast writing. Are what we call our Kicker, our final story of the Morning Run, and it's dedicated to TJ.

00:01:40
Speaker 2: So wait for it.

00:01:41
Speaker 3: Okay, look forward to that. But let's start on this run with some uncertainty. And there's plenty of uncertainty about a final piece deal between the US and Iran. Every time the President Robes comes out and says this is in the deal, the Iranians come out and say, no, we didn't even discuss that. So that uncertainty is there, and that back and forth is going on meantime, gas prices have been steadily dropping over the past few weeks. Have you noticed, But they've stopped because they stopped going up because the bombs stop dropping, And that at least makes sense.

00:02:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, so the bomb stop dropping, But the prices aren't dropping fast enough for President Trump, and he wants the Justice Department to yes investigate oil companies because it's their fault. The President wrote this on true Social The big oil companies are not dropping their price at the pump. Commesure it with the sharply lower prices they are paying for oil. Those prices are dropping like a rock. In other words, customers are being gouged. I have instructed the DOJ to immediately start looking into this. Gasoline prices better start going down a lot faster than what I'm seeing exclamation points.

00:02:51
Speaker 3: What do you make of that?

00:02:52
Speaker 2: It's a threat to just say do what I say.

00:02:55
Speaker 3: Rob. It's once again it's the reflecting pool. Whatever is the problem, it's not my fault. The Iran war costs gas prices robes to skyrocket.

00:03:07
Speaker 2: We could call it the deflecting pool robes.

00:03:10
Speaker 4: He's now now making a reason and an excuse, so you should not hold me accountable for what's happening at the gas pump, because I now had the Justice Department investigating a possible crime of price gouging, which he's saying is responsible for what we're paying at the pump.

00:03:27
Speaker 2: This is incredible, storm mirrors, this is crazy.

00:03:30
Speaker 3: This is incredible stuff. But it's good news that prices are down. They're three ninety two a gallon, that's the average. Surely people have noticed that. But they were four fifty a gallon just a month ago, but rose before the war, they were under three bucks. So folks are going to remember that the midterms are very close by. And to say that I'm going to have a criminal investigation into oil companies because gas prices are higher than I say they should be robes, this is bunker.

00:04:00
Speaker 1: I do believe that the majority of the American public is a lot smarter than he gives them credit for. All Right, next up on the run, we have a new problem at the deflecting Pool.

00:04:10
Speaker 2: No, the reflecting pool in DC. Yet we're talking dead ducks.

00:04:14
Speaker 1: At least three ducks have been found dead in the reflecting Pool in recent days, and though it's not known at this point why the ducks might have died. An environment group suggested quote creating a giant duck death trap just in time for America's two hundred and fiftieth Birthday party is as trump as it gets.

00:04:33
Speaker 3: I Meanwhile, the President continues to insist that folks are vandalizing the pool, says at least six arrests have been made. He has claimed, without evidence that vandals have sabotaged the fourteen million dollar renovation. After the pool is overtaken by algae once again, pieces of sealint started coming up from the pool surface roads. But they're going to have to drain it, they say, partially again and do all these repairs. Don't know what it's going to look like on the fourth of July at this point.

00:04:58
Speaker 1: All right. Next up on the Run, the Senate delivered a rare rebuke to President Trump yesterday, albeit a symbolic one. The Senate passed the War Powers Resolution that would block the President from taking further action against you run without first getting congressional approval.

00:05:13
Speaker 2: This sounds incredible.

00:05:15
Speaker 3: Yeah, the House previously passed this resolution, but this is the tenth time the Senate has voted for it. What's different this time? Four Republicans joined with Democrats to pass the bill. Now we did say ropes, it's only symbolic because again Schoolhouse Rock, we know it's only a bill until the president's signature gets on it.

00:05:34
Speaker 2: We don't expect that.

00:05:37
Speaker 1: That's a shame though, right, Like, if it's a war, that's so crazy to me that it's set up that way. If you're doing something to limit someone's power, but the person who is the power has to sign it, how is that even effective in any way?

00:05:49
Speaker 2: Shape?

00:05:50
Speaker 3: What are the numbers to override or presidential veto and all this stuff. It's all kind against Schoolhouse Rock.

00:05:55
Speaker 1: An opportunity but not going to happen, all right, Next up on the Run. Last night's Prime held in four states, Maryland, South Carolina, you taught, and New York, and most headlines are about what happened here in New York last night where mayor's or hunt.

00:06:11
Speaker 2: Why can I never say this for.

00:06:12
Speaker 3: His name because the R and the H throw you off when you look at it.

00:06:16
Speaker 1: Zorn, Yeah, son, Yeah, you're right there, switch okay, Zorron.

00:06:20
Speaker 3: Mom.

00:06:21
Speaker 2: Donnie was not on a ballid, but he picked up three victories.

00:06:25
Speaker 3: They had three candidates, socialist candidates that he endorsed one their primaries. Two of them beat incumbents. This is a big deal, a sign up his popularity and political influence, and some are using the words kingmaker to describe him now. And the one note Robes the nadler is leaving the Midtown Manhattan district. There was like eight or ten people fighting for that spot and they got a lot of attention because Camelot was on that ballot. But Camelot is not going Robes back to Congress. Some folks were excited about this. But JFK's grandson, Jack Schlosberg, did lose in that primary, came in third fourth, I think he did, But folks are excited about that. The idea of a Kennedy being back.

00:07:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, somehow, I think this is just the beginning for him. He's young, and yes, you always lose a few before you win, right.

00:07:11
Speaker 2: That's the way it goes.

00:07:12
Speaker 1: Next up on the run, Florida is scheduled to carry out its nation leading ninth execution of the year tomorrow, and in doing so, it's making a record of sorts. Yes, it's setting a record, I should say. Convicted murderer Dusty Ray Spencer is seventy four years old, and that will make him the oldest person ever executed in that state.

00:07:34
Speaker 3: Been on death row thirty four years, convicted for the nineteen ninety two stabbing death of his wife. I'm not sure how much you looked into that. These are some horrific.

00:07:42
Speaker 2: I've looked into it.

00:07:43
Speaker 1: We're going to do a whole episode on this, because this is an unbelievable story.

00:07:48
Speaker 3: Yeah. Juri though initially voted seventy five for the death penalty, that sentence was later vacated by the state Supreme Court, but in ninety six he was re sentenced and once again given the death penalty in Rome. So much of the conversation here we talk about cruel and unusual and all these things, and the argument here or robes greatly is about he's seventy four, what are we doing, He's not in good health. What's the point of it. But justice is the point, and the law says what the law says.

00:08:13
Speaker 2: Yes, that's true.

00:08:14
Speaker 1: And by the way, we mentioned the record that will be set well in just twenty days, Florida's next scheduled execution is for another seventy four year old man. He'll he's twelve days younger, twelve days younger than Spencer.

00:08:28
Speaker 2: Well, it just so happened to be back to back my goodness, all right.

00:08:31
Speaker 1: Next up on the Run, a thirteen year old boy was taken to the hospital after falling fifty feet during a ride at Disneyland. Disney says the teen exited the ride before it was over.

00:08:41
Speaker 3: And nobody knows why. There's video of this that TMZ has. You could tell they are shooting the video that somebody is playing for them on a cell phone. Obviously somebody didn't want to electronically send it to somebody, but you do see it in robes. This is do I have right? It's maybe my favorite ride.

00:09:00
Speaker 2: This is the right.

00:09:01
Speaker 3: Yes, used to be Splash.

00:09:02
Speaker 2: Mountain, Splash Mountain.

00:09:03
Speaker 1: You and I went to disney World and you were like, we got a ride Splash that was like your jam.

00:09:07
Speaker 3: But it's uh yes. So the video shows and ropes. These are the ones with the big logs that you ride through the water rides. At the top of the final drop, you see he steps out for some reason and nobody knows what.

00:09:17
Speaker 2: Maybe he got scared.

00:09:19
Speaker 3: I don't know, you know what, That's a good I never thought about that though. Yeah, being curious, being a kid or something, and maybe I don't know, I.

00:09:25
Speaker 2: Think about that freaked out and didn't want to go down.

00:09:27
Speaker 3: I don't know, but he appears to slide down his fifty foot drop he was taking to the hospital. Butt release seems to be okay, But it's Tiana's By You Adventure now, oh okay? Do you remember they changed it because of the racial The song was the Song of the South that was a part of a Disney nineteen forties UH animated film that had some really awful racial stereotypes in it, and this whole ride was based on it, so that's why they changed it. Yes, this happens to be the ride.

00:09:55
Speaker 2: But Splash Mountain, we didn't know it, all right. It's kind of always going to be Splash Splash to me, all right.

00:10:00
Speaker 1: Next up on the Run, a complete ban on screens in classrooms for kids before second grade. That sounds amazing. The Los Angeles School District has just adopted new and some of the strictest in the nation guidelines for screen time, which includes a total ban on screens.

00:10:18
Speaker 2: Before second grade.

00:10:19
Speaker 3: How does that sound?

00:10:20
Speaker 1: I think it sounds appropriate and badly needed, and I wish parents and I hate to throw stones because I didn't have the option. But you see it everywhere, kids in amazing locations, in the streets.

00:10:31
Speaker 2: Of New York City, on vacation.

00:10:33
Speaker 1: In Paris, and they're sitting there with their screens, staring down.

00:10:39
Speaker 3: Through each his or her own. But this can't be a bad thing to have kids spending less time in front of a screen. It cannot They're trying to do a correction from COVID. Look, this was a lifeline. This was great during COVID that we had this access, that we could do remote kids had these screens. But now they're saying, Okay, we need to remember this isn't a great thing for the kids. So the guideline and go like this, So if you're in second and third grade, you're only going to get twenty minutes a day or less on a screen. That's second and third grade, Fourth and fifth you get thirty minutes a day or less. And again before second grade you are not getting a screen at all at school. It goes into effect next year, but they also have some guidelines for high school and middle school kids. I don't know, Rope, this can't be a bad thing.

00:11:22
Speaker 2: I love it.

00:11:22
Speaker 1: Less than sixty minutes per subject per week for middle school and less than ninety minutes per subject per week for high school.

00:11:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, and looked the tough thing.

00:11:31
Speaker 1: I remember not that long ago when my kids were in high school and they had iPads given to them by the school, and I'm having to go to bed early. I want to check their screen time, but they're like, Mom, I still at homework and I have to use my screen.

00:11:42
Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was just always an excuse.

00:11:44
Speaker 1: They were probably watching reruns of whatever show they were. You know, I don't know Gray's anatomy, but it's just impossible to police, so I do less is more for sure.

00:11:54
Speaker 3: All Right, we'll stay with us here on this Wednesday morning run. When we come back, we will finally and I we'll find it. We'll hear it all together. This story that Rogues has been raving about the past couple of days, about a guy who is maybe going to annoy all of us. Also, last night, a very big night for some young men at the NBA Draft. Turns out they were really really young. And we'll explain why Donald Trump is going to the World Cup and he is going to play quite prominently this year. Say it.

00:12:34
Speaker 1: We continue our run on this Wednesday morning with another bit of history. At the World Cup. Yesterday, Christiano Ronaldo became the only player to ever score in six World Cups.

00:12:46
Speaker 2: And boy did he look relieved and happy all.

00:12:48
Speaker 1: Of them there.

00:12:49
Speaker 3: Yes, he had a rough start in the first game. They had a one to one draw and he did not score. I'm trying to think he might have only gotten one shot on goal. If that so, A lot of people are questioning is he washed up? He's not having a good World Cup. But he came back in a big way yesterday scored two goals to become, like you said it, robes only player to ever score in six World Cups. They beat Uzbeka Stan five to nil.

00:13:13
Speaker 1: Right. Another bit of World Cup news, this one Trump related. The FIFA president announced yesterday that yes, President Trump would present the World Cup winner with the trophy at the final in New Jersey that happens on July nineteenth.

00:13:27
Speaker 3: There is president for that. That was the first thing. People thought, like, why were you changing protocol? Well, they kind of are, even though there is some president, but rose it hasn't happened a lot over history. The FIFA president is the one who usually gets up on the stage and hands it to these exuberant guys who just went through a month long tournament to win the World Cup. But President Trump is going to be there on stage with them, no matter who the team is. Now, when's this happened before? Nineteen eighty two? King Carlos was Spain, nineteen sixty six, Queen Elizabeth Kings and queens. Okay, all right, enough sad, but he did this last year. Someone will remember, FIFA had a tournament for the euro team. It was called the FIFA Club World Cup. But they played their final here. Trump went and presented the trophy to Chelsea. I think they won, but he didn't leave the stage. People were pissed after that because he stayed up there and it was this awkward. The team is celebrating this big victory and the President of the United States. We ain't got nothing to do with nothing on stage. It's still up there. So we'll see how.

00:14:32
Speaker 2: This should be interesting? All right? Next up on the run.

00:14:36
Speaker 1: Some of the best dressed young men you'll ever see had their moment in the spotlight last night. We're talking about the NBA Draft and it was a night for the young ones, right, they were really young.

00:14:48
Speaker 3: Eight players first eight were all freshmen. Wow, taking off the board in the lotder. In the NBA draft, number one overall went to the Washington Wizards. His name is A. J. The Bansa. He's a six seven, two hundred and fifteen pound freshman and from BYU led the nation in scoring. He is an absolute stud. But we do know now, Robes, we are brand new fans of the Sacramento Kings.

00:15:09
Speaker 1: Oh, because a cuff is headed there from the Razorbacks.

00:15:13
Speaker 3: Sur boar Darius Acauf went number seven overall going through Sacramento. So congrats to the fellows. But this was they're getting younger and younger. But yeah, teenagers got drafted me millionaires last night.

00:15:24
Speaker 1: Wow. All right for the final leg of our run, This one is for TJ. I know how much you love loud people, honey, would you say that's probably the thing that annoys you more than anything.

00:15:35
Speaker 3: If they're loud and standing on an escalator and not walking. If you combine those two things, that's the person he must.

00:15:41
Speaker 1: All right, So meet fifty eight year old Joseph mcgrail bate up, a professional air conditioner cleaner from Australia.

00:15:48
Speaker 3: I don't know where this story's going. That's the hell of a start.

00:15:52
Speaker 1: I like to just piece it all together, brick by brick. He just broke the Guinness World Record for what you ask. He is now officially the world's loudest person. Just how loud is he? He yelled now at one hundred and twenty two point four decibels. Do you want to know what one hundred and twenty two point four decibels is?

00:16:15
Speaker 3: I've been the concerts where that's a warning.

00:16:18
Speaker 1: Yes, from some perspective, that exact level of sound is in the same noise range as a chainsaw, a jet aircraft taking off, and an ambulance siren at a close range.

00:16:31
Speaker 2: Can you imagine, he said? So he yelled.

00:16:33
Speaker 1: So I'm just imagining him yelling now so loud that it's as if a jet aircraft is taking off. This is the competition or yes, because he broke the previous record of one hundred and twenty one point seven decibels that was set by a Northern Ireland school teacher. Her name is Anna Lisa Flanagan. She set this record back in nineteen ninety four from Northern Ireland. She had yelled an ear piercing quiet. So I'm just imagining these people in this competition screaming. So the teacher screamed quiet, and she had the record for many many years, almost oh, guess thirty years.

00:17:12
Speaker 2: So he broke a thirty year.

00:17:13
Speaker 1: Record by yelling now at one hundred and twenty two.

00:17:17
Speaker 3: Well, how did they explain? Are you is it medically? Is there something people are able to do? Or you could have to be built? Are you blessed?

00:17:23
Speaker 2: You have to be built?

00:17:24
Speaker 1: And you can't practice it because it will destroy your vocal cords, That's what they were saying.

00:17:28
Speaker 2: So I think he did.

00:17:29
Speaker 1: Now, he had seven tries and it was on his seventh try that he reached that decibel. But the Guinness folks are there with their with their readers, and they actually were able to clock or at.

00:17:39
Speaker 2: Least record by the word.

00:17:41
Speaker 3: Now.

00:17:42
Speaker 2: He tried several different words.

00:17:44
Speaker 1: Oh, that was the word that he could get louder, and the teacher had quiet, and she was able to get that.

00:17:49
Speaker 2: They called it an ear piercing sound.

00:17:53
Speaker 3: The teacher part is she still a teacher? Can you imagine her in class? That's the first thing I.

00:18:00
Speaker 1: In this world book record holder of the loudest person in the world yelling quiet, which I thought was so funny. And by the way, so I mentioned that this man was a professional air conditioner cleaner. He also is the town crier of Cannaberra, so his town crier name is Lord Joseph and he makes announcements at community events, school events and car shows.

00:18:24
Speaker 3: So he's putting it together.

00:18:25
Speaker 2: He's known for a.

00:18:26
Speaker 1: Loud voice, but now he is officially the loudest person in the world.

00:18:32
Speaker 3: Were there American competitors, I.

00:18:34
Speaker 1: Only apparently a certain part of the world. Well, it's Australia has just beaten out Northern Ireland, but Americans could give them probably a run for their money.

00:18:43
Speaker 3: We're not the loudest, but collectively.

00:18:48
Speaker 1: Anyway, I just got the biggest kick out of imagining these people just screaming those words.

00:18:55
Speaker 3: And last Copeter record, last thing on this. Does this mean they naturally have loud or speaking voice?

00:19:01
Speaker 2: Probably?

00:19:01
Speaker 1: Like it's probably it has to do with your diaphragm, because I could never, like my throat hurts even thinking about trying to push out something that loud.

00:19:09
Speaker 3: You know, you have a volume though to your what you do baby, and you don't recognie my dad is like that. My whole life grew up, my mom was like, you don't realize how loud you are. Your voice carries. She used to say that all the time. My dad you and there are times I look at you, said, baby, baby, she can hear you talking.

00:19:26
Speaker 1: About her, only saying good things. Of course yes. And on this Wednesday, we will leave you with our quote of the day. I just thought this one was funny and just say a reminder when people are always wondering whether or not someone's into you or what they're really thinking about you. I just this quote just summed it up. I'm just gonna I won't drop the F bomb. Who the f forgets to text somebody they're actually interested in?

00:19:52
Speaker 2: Nobody? It was just on Instagram.

00:19:57
Speaker 1: It had a bunch of quotes, and I just you know, we're always trying to read between the lines and read the tea leaves, and I wonder what he meant by not texting me back or waiting a few days. Who the f forgets to text somebody they're actually interested in nobody. It's just a good reminder as you're going about your day and trying to set your boundaries and choosing who to give your energy to.

00:20:19
Speaker 3: We'll talk, we'll discuss this further after.

00:20:21
Speaker 1: The really oh all right, and with that everyone, I maybe Roebuck, we always appreciate you running with us, and I'm TJ.

00:20:29
Speaker 3: Holmes runs in
