Speaker 2: Man, and it's been quiet. Not a peep from the jury in the Lindsay Clancy trial yesterday, or the day before, or the day before. Jurors, yes, had once again another full day of deliberations with no questions asked. And no notes.

Speaker 3: Yeah, they had one note they sent at the end of the day to the judge saying, can we go home early? And sure enough, about 15 minutes before they normally head out, they left. So they'll be back this morning, 9 a.m., and expect them to continue their deliberations, which have now gone 17 hours.

Speaker 2: That's right. And you'll remember Clancy killed admitted to killing her three young children. But she's pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Her defense saying she was experiencing postpartum psychosis at the time of the killings. And the jury has to go through multiple experts, forensic psychiatrists who have competing opinions about whether or not she was, in fact, In a state of psychosis.

Speaker 3: Well, that jury continues its work. It didn't take a jury out in Vegas that long at all to do its work. Yes, next up on the run, we stop in Vegas. It took them three hours to come back with a guilty verdict for Dwayne Davis, the only person ever brought to justice for the death of rap icon Tupac Shakur.

Speaker 2: After two weeks of testimony, closing arguments happened yesterday morning. The jury got the case just past lunch and within hours, yep, by 5 p.m., they had their verdict. Davis was not accused of being the triggerman. Rather, he was the man who orchestrated the murder and provided the gun used in the 1996 shooting there on the Vegas Strip. He was in the car at the time. He now will be sentenced on October 13th, facing life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Speaker 3: All right, continuing on the run here now. Part of this run now is just happening uptown from us in Times Square. Yes, a terrifying scene in the middle of Times Square in the middle of the day. Police shot and killed a knife-wielding woman who had just stabbed two people. Robes us around 4.30 in the afternoon. I mean, hell, it's hard to find any time that Times Square is not busy. That's a busy time.

Speaker 2: That's a very busy time. And this woman, by the way, who looked not at all like a dangerous suspect. She actually looked like anyone you'd be passing on the street in a pink T-shirt. But yeah, she stabbed two other folks within seconds of each other. And when she was confronted by police, she told them, when they said to drop it, she's like, I'd rather kill you. So we saw the video. She kind of hobbles her way towards the officers, but she's got two knives in her hands, and they decided to fire their weapons, killing her. She eventually was identified as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros of New York.

Speaker 1: Yeah, Rob, there's a lot of video footage. of this scene because it took them so long, four plus minutes, that they were talking to her. It was, I don't know how, I guess they had no choice. It's just one of those things. You got three, four, five plus officers there with tasers, batons, and guns. Yes. Talking to this woman.

The rescue work continues as the death toll continues to rise in that catastrophic flooding along the China-Nepal borders. Authorities now say more than 1,000 people confirmed dead, another 3,900 at least are still missing. Keeping an eye on that, but this is one of those things you only have a certain amount of time and once enough time passes you. kind of run out of hope of finding a lot of people still alive.

Speaker 2: Yes, and you may remember that glacial collapse triggered those floodwaters. They say there's a huge tunnel system underneath Nepal. They think there are as many as 900 workers who were trapped in those tunnels. The idea of that is just awful, but what tough work those folks are doing over in Nepal. But next up on the run, a hurricane watch is now in effect in parts of the Gulf this morning as Edward... Edward approached. You know, we knew Dolly wasn't going to be anything. We knew they were going to have to skip over to the E because no way Dolly, a storm named Dolly, was going to be approaching the Gulf Coast. No way. So Edward, the fifth named storm of the season.

Speaker 3: Rescue crews had to perform some 80 rescues, many of them by helicopter, over the past couple of days since that flash flooding swept through on Saturday and roves these areas. They mentioned there was a big fire last year, and there was a huge burn scar in the area, and we know how that, you bring in some heavy rains with that stuff, and yeah, it was part.

He was back in court yesterday to officially enter a plea in the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose dismembered and decomposing body was found in the trunk of David's Tesla last September.

Speaker 3: And at the hearing yesterday, the judge okayed his lawyer's request to be removed from the case. He now is getting a public hearing. defender next court appearance is october 19th and they're supposed to according to law out there uh have a trial within 90 days so they're going to check on october 19th to see if everybody's ready ropes.

Speaker 2: Wow that is fast that is incredibly yes and we could be in trial in november for singer david all right next up on the run florida is going to carry out its nation-leading 14th execution of the year this evening. Harold Gene Lucas is one of the longest-serving death row inmates in the country. He has been on death row for nearly 50 years, sentenced to death back in 1977 for the shooting death of 16-year-old Jill Piper. She was a teenage girl who rejected his romantic advances. Lucas waived his final appeals. Basically, he said, I'm tired. Basically, it's time for me to die. So he is not fighting this execution. He says he's ready to go. So there shouldn't be any reason why this execution will be stopped. Scheduled at 6 p.m. tonight. And Florida has two more executions scheduled for later this month.

Harold Gene Lucas is one of the longest-serving death row inmates in the country. He has been on death row for nearly 50 years, sentenced to death back in 1977 for the shooting death of 16-year-old Jill Piper. She was a teenage girl who rejected his romantic advances. Lucas waived his final appeals. Basically, he said, I'm tired. Basically, it's time for me to die. So he is not fighting this execution. He says he's ready to go. So there shouldn't be any reason why this execution will be stopped. Scheduled at 6 p.m. tonight. And Florida has two more executions scheduled for later this month.
