Trump Wants You to Know He Didn't Fall and Norah O'Donnell is A "Horrible" Person

It is Monday, April twenty seventh, and President Trump spoke to the country right after the incident on Saturday in which a gunman was taken down at the White House correspondents dinner. Yeah, he spoke to the country on Saturday. He spoke to sixty Minutes on Sunday, given his own account of what it was like as a man for the third time in eighteen months, seems to have somebody trying to shoot him and with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ did a sit down with sixty Minutes Robes detailing what it was like for him. What stood out to you from this interview that.

Speaker 2: He was warm yet testy, so he was reflecting upon those moments. Was interesting to hear how he and the first Lady handled getting the news and then dealing with what they had to go through to get off that stage. That was fascinating to hear a first hand account less than twenty four hours from what had happened. And then just to see him get pretty ruffled when he started listening to the manifesto, at least a particular part of the Manifesto that sixty Minutes read aloud. To him, So that definitely stood out to me his reaction to that.

Speaker 1: So we're gonna let you hear from the President really on both of those points that Robock was making there about this interview, but it was with Nora O'Donnell. As much as he seems to rail against CBS in sixty minutes, he seems to spend a lot of time with those folks over a sixty minutes, probably because he knows the number one news magazine on TV and that's a good way to get audience. Simple as that, I suppose. But Nora o'donald's in the in the White House doing this interview Robes. She was also, like most journalists, at least prominent ones, she was also in the room when this all happened on Sunday. So I was, I guess, Robes, I guess not surprised, But I'm always surprised that he keeps going back to sixty minutes.

Speaker 2: Yes, as much as he claims to dislike them, and as much as he's sued them and has made certain folks known that he doesn't like or he doesn't mind saying frankly fairly rude things to their faces, this was no exception, at least watching the exchange between the two. And yet look by the way, I thought Nora did a great job. I thought she handled herself very well. I thought this can be tough and testy at times. And his relationship with the press was on full.

Speaker 1: Display, his constantly isn't it? And there was hope in that room on Saturday. Robes, I think there was hope before this incident, and that was more hope after the incident. Just the fact that he showed up at the White House Coresbond's dinner was a big deal. This was I we don't want to call it historic, but in Trump presidential history, this was history. First time he'd shown up. So even the fact that he went was a big deal. But Robes that seemed to be like, wow, that's kind of awesome. Maybe things will soften. But then after this incident, Robes didn't. Weren't their indications He was even complementary in the press conference afterwards, there was a tone that we were very hopeful about Robes that seems all ready to have gone away.

Speaker 2: Yes, and it's interesting, as he was admonishing Nora in a few moments, he also did talk about how he liked the press, and how his speech will be different, or at least would have been different if he was allowed to go back up on stage and make the speech he was going to give at the White House Correspondence Center. So it again, it's very much like a lot of what we hear from the President. He'll be upset about one thing and lash out, but then also talk about the love in the room and how he's hopeful that the relationship can soften between him and the press. So he says one thing and then says the complete opposite in the next sentence, So he is on brand.

Speaker 1: So, yeah, what there was some hope at least, and he was very complimentary how the coverage went on Saturday. He was complimentary to the head of the White House Correspondence Association, all of that stuff. But yes, the combative part, and you'll understand what we played here for in a moment, you can tell what things still get under his skin. It wasn't actually a question about the incident and what happened on Saturday night. There was something else that really got to him. But let me, we'll let you hear first, just hear from the president here he is describing what those moments were like and why robes? He kind of explains here why and some people had criticism jd. Vance. They got his butt off stage pretty fast.

Speaker 1: Then you know that is we have to remember that robes and as he's describing there that this guy now he hasn't confirmed, he said. In this interview, he was asked directly, did this guy target you don't know for sure yet, but you can assume the guy was there and would have taken a shot at President Trump had he gotten the opportunity. But Roll, this is a guy who's got one guy right now in prison for trying to assassinate him. That was the guy at the golf course. Another guy tried to kill him in Butler, and now this robes. This isn't a year and a half. I mean, I know people have their thoughts and feelings about Trump, but Roll, this is a that has to have an impact on you. You got people literally and verifiably coming to.

Speaker 2: Kill you, right. But I think he takes it as a badge of honor. He repeated it in this interview. He said it when he addressed the nation that he considered it almost a badge of honor that only consequential presidents are shot at. I believe Nora said maybe controversial presidents. Would he consider that. He didn't really go on that or take off on that one. No, he said, consequential president's presidents who do important things, who matter, they're the ones who get shot at. So it doesn't seem like he doesn't appear to be shaken. He doesn't appear to be concerned. He actually appears to be honored. That was my impression of his takeaway from being now shot at, or at least there was an attempt at some sort of violence or yes, an assassination, that this would be the third attempt. He kind of says, yeah, I'm that important.

You go through history who there's a reason we know link and JFK that's a reason, and you look at these men as the greatest and most consequential presidents we've ever had. Somebody wanted to take a shot at me too, I mean, he does. It sounded odd on Saturday, right after the event that he was saying these things, but I guess we shouldn't be surprised. I pulled it up because I'm sitting here. Go ahead with it, please go ahead. Well, no, no, I'll pull it up because we were talking about and robes. Jd Vance was off that stage and clear off that stage for quite a while before Trump ever got up from his seat.

Now, this moment here robes everybody's talking about, and the President addressed as well. Why it's gonna keep getting talked about. But we saw the president fall. Okay, we saw it. We've all seen the video. That's not claiming he.

They were telling him to get off, but he wanted to stay up and they were pushing him down. That's if you watch the video, he fell and it's okay, and it's he's never gonna be okay with you. You're never going to admit that, but he did robes. He took time to go through and explain what was happening, like several times.

He's stumbled, he fel It's okay, a man, but that he's still it just continues to tell us something about him, that this was so important to him to make that point. And you know, no Secret Services agent, you're not gonna hear a lead.

Stay here, all right, We continue here on Amy and TJ on this Monday, after a hell of a weekend of events at the White House, correspondence to Dinner. A man is now in custody. He actually has a quarter appears a schedule for today. After he ran through a security checkpoint, tried to sprint towards the White House Correspondence Center ballroom, did not make it that far. He was taken down. He did have two guns on him, several knives. No one actually injured. They did have a law enforcement officer who was hit in his bulletproof vests. He's already out of the hospital and doing fine. But the President spoke to sixty minutes last night in Robes. It was one of the first things that jumped out at you. He's always combative with the press. He always says something. But it's interesting, Robes, the things that always get him worked up.

Speaker 2: Yes, and wouldn't it be unshocking to anyone to know that there was an Epstein reference, or at least he brought He actually said Epstein's sayings. And it was interesting because Nora O'Donnell gave him the opportunity not to even assume that this manifesto will explain what it said was directed specifically at him, but he certainly took it personally. She even followed up saying, oh, do you think he was referring to you? And he just lambasted Nora.

Speaker 1: O'Donnell, and so yes, the manifest I'm not sure how many pages or whatever it is, but they're calling it is we're not using that. Law enforcement is saying this guy put out something and he's railing against the administration and trumping.

Because in this manifesto he said he was going to prioritize taking out the Trump administration from the highest ranking to the lowest, so you could start with President Trump, I would imagine it, then go down. And then he said he made an odd exception of not targeting cash Patel. What did you think of that?

And he said he said he did not want to attack law enforcement, hotel employees or however, he said he would attack them to get to the administration, saying, I really hope it doesn't come to that. But he had a very specific plan to start with it. It seems like start with President Trump and work his way, I guess from JD. Van's on down.

Speaker 1: And so the manifesto is he's laying out who he wants to go after ropes. He's also laying out who, excuse me, why he has beef with this president and with this administration. And this is where Nora O'Donnell had to at some point bring up the manifesto. I assume she had to grab some quote out there and get the president's reaction to it, but he didn't appreciate the one that she chose. And so you're gonna hear now we're going to play for you the exchange, But it starts with Nora O'Donnell's question to the president and the excerpt from the manifesto that she does read, and you'll immediately identify why he wasn't going to like those one. We're going to learn more about him and we'll find out about his moves later. Yeah, haven't read through the manifesto. Myself will, but our people are studying it done.

I mean, I thought, Norah, that's that's tough. The President of the United States in your face in a one on one interview. You and I have had these contentious interviews before, but to have the president call you a horrible person and a disgrace, that that's that is not an I don't think that's an easy thing to sit through and then to move on, and she did. I thought she did a good job just moving on.

And that's the mistake that first one comes to mind with it Terry Moran, Yes, who blew it? And I'm sorry, no, I know of fence to him. We respect him, but he tried to keep matching this kind of stuff from the president. You know, she'd let it all roll. That is the part I give her credit for being excellent. You gotta let the president do his thing and stick to your question.

He said, there are great people in the press, but I don't want to I don't want to embarrass your show. But he said, we have some great people in the press, and very fair people and people that are just on my side. But for the most part, it's a very liberal or progressive let's use the word liberal press. But I was just really happy to see. I don't know how long it'll last, the relationship, the friendship, the spirit. After a very bad event took place.

Oftentimes he'll do a whole press gaggle in the White House. It'll be an event about something unrelated and he'll open it up. He likes holding court with the reporters. He does, and it's all you can see, almost the fear on their faces about to ask a question like, oh god, he is gonna rip me a new one. And he insults them left and right, what a stupid question. You're a horrible person. You'll have terrible rankings, ratings, and then answers the question however he wants to. This is typical stuff from him, babe. And she handled him as well as you can. She handled him as best anybody can while still doing her job. The only other way to do this better is to cater to him and just have fun, and then he'll be in a good mood. The other thing you can do the ar thing and becombative and try to make your point or Nora, well done, ignore at all.

But he talked about they were talking about how the suspect went to a no king's rally, and President Trump said, he said, uh, yeah, the reason you have people like that is you have people doing no kings. I'm not a king? What I am? Well, if I was king, I wouldn't be dealing with you.
