Trump: "I Want To Be a Good Person" Then Promises Annihilation
After giving an update on the successful rescue of a U.S. airman behind enemy lines, President Trump wrapped his press conference today by taking questions from reporters. Most of them were about the war with Iran. Trump stood by his 8pm Tuesday deadline for Iran to make a deal, or else. But he also explained why he moved the deadline by one day.

Speaker 1: Hey there, folks, Monday, April sixth, Continuation Part two here of the President's press conference. Told you I was going to split this up into two parts. This second part is focused on the war and the update the President gave us, and this was part of his update. Every bridge decimated, every power plant will be out of business. And with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ. Still know Amy on this one. She's got the day off, taking a moment. But the President the episode before this on the feed had talked about the things The President said. He was having a press conference and he was given an update on the rescue that daring, harrowing rescue as they say, of that to us US airmen that was behind enemy lines had to evade for forty eight hours almost before being rescued. Given all the details of that and that stuff is pretty heroarchic. You want to hear more about that. That's in the episode right before this one. But the second part of that press conference involved a lot of Q and A with reporters and mostly about the war with Iran, and some interesting stuff came out of that, and that is what I want to go through with you here with and I'm just going to take a couple of minutes. Just wanted to give you the update as I promised. But the President still not giving a timeline necessarily for the end of the war. But he is standing by his timeline of tomorrow, Tuesday, eight o'clock Eastern time, is when he is going to blow up everything. In his words, he is going to blow the country up his words again, if they do not open the straight of Horror moves fully by eight o'clock tomorrow or make a deal by eight o'clock tomorrow, and a part of the deal needs to be them opening up the straight of horror moves. That is the deadline. Now. The President has moved deadlines a couple of times for the Iranians. Several times there was a forty eight hour and then there was a five days, there's a ten day, and now this ten day, it looks like it's going to be about an eleven day. But it was funny that he gave a reason for why he ends up giving them an extra day. The reason he gave them an extra day is because essentially, he says he's a nice guy. The President says he's a he's a nice guy. He didn't want to blow everything up because it was it was easter. He actually said that. He said, it's an easter. I'm an it's easter. I'm a nice guy. So he wanted to give them an extra day and not blow everything up so close to Easter. The President said that he does. As we continue to wonder who he's talking to, he gave us an update. He says he's dealing with a new regime and he says they're smarter, sharper, and far less radical. However, he is still threatening to blow them off the face of the earth. Now, the President did raise some eyebrows in the room and some headlines you'll see about it. He was asked about blowing up civilian infrastructure. Now, the President has been threatening to blow up everything. Specifically, he is going after power plants, energy plants, their ability to keep the lights on, the ability to keep themselves cool or keep themselves warm, or even get clean drinking water. He is threatening to take that away, to blow all of that up. Some have suggested that doing so would amount to war crimes. You're not allowed to voluntarily, or excuse me, intentionally go after civilian infrastructure. So he was asked about that today and he said this quote. They would be willing to suffer that in order to have freedom. Now, that was the President suggesting that Iranians would prefer that you wipe their country out, turn off all the lights, take away all their ability to heat their homes, to cook food, to do anything, take all that away, and it's worth that suffering in order to have freedom. The President did say that today. He also said they are receiving not exactly sure how, but messages from Iranians saying please keep bombing. He said that these messages are from people who are quote living where the bombs are exploding, in some kind of way getting the messages to the US saying please keep bombing. The President also suggested on the idea of war crimes on targeting civilian infrastructure. He's asked if he thought that amounted to a war crime. He quickly he said this really quickly, No, not at all, and then moved on to something else. But he said, I hope I don't have to do it. But as we speak, and as of this recording, we're almost twenty four hours away from that deadline when the President says he will wipe everything out of Iran, blown back to the stone, ages as he's been saying, but he says he'll even said in this press conference, yeah, it'll take me about four hours to do it. Just take me about four hours and we'll be good. Have it all wiped out. So that is what he's threatening to do. Now. On the negotiation front, he didn't give much of an update, but says those negotiations do continue to come. Now. He made this odd comment about his instincts. He was asked about how he knows this is the right thing to do and that he's doing the right thing, and he said, quote, be a good president, you have to have good instincts. I have good instincts. He kind of left it at that at as he's making decisions based on his gut, including things going along in this war. Now, the ten day deadline, so here it is exactly. I thought it was inappropriate the day after Easter. I want to be a good president. There it is. That's the exact quote. That's why he moved the deadline one day because it was inappropriate the day after Easter. He wanted to be a good person. Then in the same press conference, he said this quote, they're going to have no bridges. They're going to have no power plants back to the Stone Ages, and he continued, every bridge decimated, every power plant will be out of business. When is he going to do this? Eight o'clock tomorrow night. But why is he going to do this if there is not a deal? He said about the deal, it needs to be one that's quote acceptable to me. That's the detail he gave today. And he said as part of that, oil needs to be moving freely, free trap through the straight over moves. He also made this comment that seemed to kind of come out of well, not nowhere, but he said that Israel's going to be taken out, the Middle East will be gone, and then they'll be coming for Europe. He's talking about Iran and why he had to take this action and if he not taking this action with Iran right now that quote Israel will be gone, the Middle East will be gone, and then they'll be coming for Europe. Here's the comment that the President made. But there was in all of this seriousness a pretty funny moment. Yes, in a press conference about war that included the Defense Secretary, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and the President of the United States, something funny actually happened and it was a moment between the President and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and it was a funny, it was an awkward moment. It was very though, telling of how difficult it is for maybe some people working for the President to keep the President from just saying anything out in publics. There all right, continuing here, and last thing quickly raising Kine is his name, Admiral Kine, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. He in all these press conferences when heg Seth or sometimes President Trunk, they'll give a little personality in their delivery of their remarks. Kin gets up there and very straight face delivers the remarks, and he did that again today. President went first, Then it was heg Seth, and then King gave a more of a technical update about more of the logistics and the nuts and bolts of how this whole mission went. But he got done. The President ends up going back up doing a Q and A. And at some point the President is talking about the operation and he's at the podium and he turns over to where Cain is standing to his left, still on this stage, this in the White House press room, briefing room, standing on that little stage and he turned to Cain as he's describing this operation. He's like, yeah, was it? How many men do we send in all together? Cain immediately snaps back, I'd love to keep that a secret. So the President was about to publicly in front of all these cameras and live he's asking for the numbers about how many people we sent in as a part of this operation of the rescue and give Cain credit. He just quickly said, I'd love to keep that a secret, and he said in the most polite ways, and the President was actually respectful of how he acknowledged. Okay, I get it. He doesn't want to say sorry about that. He said, hey, I love this guy. But it was kind of an awkward moment. It was very telling. And that can you imagine with all the information that gets passed around and how many times they are worried that, come on, mister President's going to let something out he's not supposed to let out. And sure enough the moment happened there. Now, even though Caine said I like to keep that a secret, the President continued. However, he nodded, laughed, the room kind of laughed, and then the President said, I'll keep it a secret, but it was hundreds of people, so he still let something out. It's been an interesting day of updates, ended kind of here with a smile on the face about an awkward exchange that took place. But this rescue mission, yes, there's something to be proud of and to smile that they made it out, but as a reminder of the danger that our men and women are in day in, day out, in ways we don't even completely understand. And this war continues. And tomorrow Tuesday, now looking to be a very big day. Hopefully it's a big day of developments when it comes to the negotiation front, the President saying by eight o'clock tomorrow night, if something has not happened, he is going to take some pretty devastating action. Appreciate you all spending some time with us. As always for my dear Amy Roboch, I'm TJ. Holmes will be talking to y'll soon
