But the stress you feel when you feel like you're behind is worse. It's almost not getting sleep because you feel like, even though I know you're exhausted, I can see relief on your face because you accomplished things that were on your mind.

Speaker 1: Look, we knew the death toll was going to rise. That was obvious given the visuals that we got from those earthquakes. But my goodness, I don't know that anyone was expecting the numbers that are now being released. Of course, they're continuing round the clock rescue and recovery efforts following last week's powerful earthquakes, and there are some beautiful stories out there about people still being found. But authorities are now saying at least two two hundred and ninety five people were killed in more than eleven thousand injured. But get this, this is the number that is jaw dropping. Officials are saying as many as fifty thousand people remain unaccounted.

Speaker 2: All Right, We're going to continue here on this Thursday Morning Rong with some pretty shocking details that are starting to emerge about the conditions of the sixteen kids rescued in Ohio. These kids story we're talked about yesterday on our feed. They're all between the ages of one and eighteen. They were found in deplorable conditions in a small room in a small house in Hampden, Ohio. What was that outside of Columbus.

Speaker 1: Yes, it's about sixty miles southwest of Columbus in a town that has about I think they said less than eight hundred people, So they were off the grid and police describe the living conditions as deplorable, third world country type of living conditions. These were the words that the sheriff used people keep live stock in better conditions. Apparently, these sixteen kids for four years were in a room, a twelve by twelve room we're talking neighbors did not see them, No one knew they existed. They were in such terrible condition. Two of them had to be flown to hospitals. Some are unable to communicate, They do not have verbal or written skills. The eighteen year old couldn't write her own name. They were actually described as feral. That I mean, it reminds me out of that movie Mama, where those girls were left defend for themselves in the woods. I mean that this is just you can't get your head around it. And the parents and the grandparents are now all facing felony child engagement charges. Will have a full episode on this story because there are so many details that police revealed about what these have been living through. It is. It's just overwhelmingly said.

Speaker 2: Next leg up, our run is going to take us down to Mississippi, where the attorneys and family for little one year old Cohen Wiley are calling for his shooting death by police unjustified. They're calling it unjustified, saying he was shot from the side of the car, not the front. In robes, that is a very big detail and that's kind of everything, at least as far as his family goes.

Speaker 1: Absolutely attorney and very famous attorney Ben Crump held a press conference yesterday revealing new independent autopsy results and they showed that Cohen was killed by a gunshot wound to the torso entering through the right side of his chest. So Crump says that finding coupled with the fact and he showed the pictures of the passenger side window shattered. They say that clearly shows police fired the bullet through the passenger side window, not the front windshield.

Speaker 2: Yeah, police or saying that the officer shot at the vehicle that the boy was riding in responding to a shoplifting call after it was driving towards law enforcement and endangering the life of the officer. Robes, they came out very immediately and said that is why the officer had to fire. No video has shown up so many incidents we see all the time, but this was a split second thing. Cameras weren't rolling, I guess, but Robes, where's the body cam? Can't can't this really be summed up?

They want Walmart surveillance video. Look, they're not asking for anything but evidence, and that's so fair because guess what. I hadn't heard this before, but little Cohen's mom, who was in the car, says they were driving in the opposite direction from law enforcement. So she is completely negating what police have said. And right now, at least what we've seen from these autopsy results, they prove what she said or at least suggest that what the police are saying isn't true.

Reuters posted a story yesterday that certainly got attention. This is what the headline said, exclusive FBI determines Nancy Guthrie ransom notes to be fakes. Source says Robes. That's significant because we have been talking a lot throughout this case and even recently about ransom notes.

Speaker 1: That's right, So if that were true, it would be a huge setback that none of the ransom notes were real. But guess what. The FBI released a statement following that headline that somewhat confirmed and somewhat refuted the Reuter's report. Here's what they said. The FBI and its Task Force partners have received several ransom notes over the course of this investigation. Some have been deemed to be extortion attempts without legitimacy. Other ransom demands may potentially be legitimate and are still being investigated. As such, this case continues to be investigated as a kidnapping for ransom case. The FBI has and will continue to offer all assistants possible in the investigation. However, local authorities remain the lead. It means that I feel like that's a direct refute of the Reuter's headlines. And I think we always knew because there was an arrest made for some of the ransom notes, but the idea that all of them were fake, they completely refuted that with that.

He has told the world that he has Alzheimer's disease and he's just now revealing it publicly. He says he was actually diagnosed with this three years ago.

A couple got engaged in one of the most iconic places in all of New York yesterday and then they got arrested. It was quite the show in New York. And look because it all ended well, there were smiles pretty much on everyone's faces as they were looking up because yes, a couple dressed in all black, including masks, they looked like Super Ninja's climbed up to the very top of the Empire State Building. We're talking about the spire, you know, like people were saying it looked like King Kong. That's where they were, you know, where King Kong was hanging off the toplanes, exactly where this couple was, with no safety ropes, no harnesses. And yeah, while they were up there, he got on one knee.

That's significant because we have been talking a lot throughout this case and even recently about ransom notes.

The FBI released a statement following that headline that somewhat confirmed and somewhat refuted the Reuter's report. Here's what they said. The FBI and its Task Force partners have received several ransom notes over the course of this investigation. Some have been deemed to be extortion attempts without legitimacy. Other ransom demands may potentially be legitimate and are still being investigated. As such, this case continues to be investigated as a kidnapping for ransom case. The FBI has and will continue to offer all assistants possible in the investigation. However, local authorities remain the lead. It means that I feel like that's a direct refute of the Reuter's headlines. And I think we always knew because there was an arrest made for some of the ransom notes, but the idea that all of them were fake, they completely refuted that with that.
