That Ain’t Usher! R&B Legend Accused Of Sending Out Lookalike At NY Concert
The internet has gone wild with speculation after Usher’s concert Saturday night at Met Life Stadium. Videos and photos are circulating showing what some fans are saying is a clone, or a look a like, on stage instead of Usher, singing “Love In This Club”. We aren’t sure where we stand after carefully looking at the clips, but some fans are demanding their money back, saying they didn’t pay good money to see a stand in sing an Usher song. Meantime, Usher has responded by commenting on one of the posts, saying “Ya’ll are funny. Clone? You can’t clone this.” Hmmmmm…. He didn’t exactly deny it?

Speaker 1: Hey, that folks. It is Sunday, August ninth, and one of the biggest R and B stars in the world at this point. He's a legend Usher and we know what Usher looks like. But he is facing accusations this morning that he pulled a fast one at his concert last night and sent out a look alike and with that, welcome to this episode, a hilarious episode of Amy and TJ. I say accusations, that's a heavy word. This is one of the funnier debates I have seen robes explode on social media. So I ask you, you have seen the video? Is that him or not?
00:00:39
Speaker 2: I think it's him. I think it's Yeah, what do you think.
00:00:43
Speaker 1: I don't know.
00:00:44
Speaker 2: You actually are on the fence.
00:00:46
Speaker 1: A little bit. I wonder though, if I had seen the video without the context of the story, if I would have gone, hmm, is that really him? Or if it was put in my head ahead of time? And then I looked at the video and thought, hmm, maybe that's not him.
00:00:57
Speaker 3: Yeah, I wonder The other interesting thing about this Some people obviously have been pointing to video and there's some close shots of his face, but there are some people who went online do they believe he was. He had a clone the entire time, or just for one or.
00:01:12
Speaker 1: A couple like it took a break, like took a break. Obviously, you can't fool seventy thousand people. And he had a bunch of guest stars come out, so obviously they were up there with the actual Usher. But there was at least one song, bro like, the guy was up there for I say the guy, Oh my gosh, other guy. I don't know, I do not know. Let's get you caught off here, folks. But this kind of exploded this morning on social media. If you hop on anywhere, you will see people talking about this. But Usher and Chris Brown launched a big tour goes from June through December, and so they had a big show last night at MetLife here in the New York area. Seventy thousand people. Wow, a bunch of stars showed up. This was huge bud robes. At one point in the show last night, there was a guy. There was a guy, there was something there was Usher was performing as Usher, and some thought that the Usher they were seeing during this particular song wasn't the guy. Now the guy Rodes was dressed in such a way that if you were trying to hide your identity, this is the outfit you go with.
00:02:20
Speaker 2: Yes, it had well, the guy Usher.
00:02:23
Speaker 3: Or whoever it was, had a big old trucker hat that was tipped way down low.
00:02:30
Speaker 1: Yep.
00:02:30
Speaker 3: He had sunglasses, very dark, very dark sunglasses. And he had basically the facial hair exactly like Usher wears.
00:02:38
Speaker 1: It, little mustache and little gotee son right yep. Okay, but you couldn't see his head. You couldn't see his hair. I think he might have had a do rag of something on underneath, perhaps, but he was covered up. If you were wanted to hide your face. How much of his face could you see? Just the mouth?
00:02:52
Speaker 2: Right, you could see the nose and the mouth, nose and mouth.
00:02:56
Speaker 1: Okay, so this happens last night. I see his name everyone. Now he has responded yes, Robes, now we're going to share that with you. It didn't help the situation, didn't it.
00:03:05
Speaker 3: No, because he didn't flat out deny it. And that is part of the problem. It is absolutely fueling the speculation.
00:03:15
Speaker 1: So here's the issue. Robes. One, of course, you could have some fun with it and whatnot, But Robes, would he be facing any possible consequences. Does anyone have a legit argument? And some are talking about refunds, but do you have an argument if you have paid for this to see him and he sends out somebody else to perform for him for even one song.
00:03:37
Speaker 3: I was gonna say if it was the entire concert, one hundred percent. If it's one song, I don't think it's a good practice unless you're acknowledging it, or you have some fun with it, or you talk about I don't know what could have been going on. Maybe he had some sort of issue he had to take care of. Who knows, things pop up, a backspasm, I don't know, you.
00:03:57
Speaker 1: Know, and he just happened to have this guy ready, that's true during the backspat, that's true. Okay, do you put any percentage robes on the possibility this was somebody else?
00:04:06
Speaker 2: Sure?
00:04:07
Speaker 1: How high?
00:04:10
Speaker 3: I mean, because you're kind of convinced going up a little bit, because you're pretty Look, you're very detail oriented.
00:04:19
Speaker 2: I would trust maybe even.
00:04:21
Speaker 3: Your eyes more than my own, So I mean I would go maybe, now I'm up to twenty.
00:04:26
Speaker 1: Five percent chance, I'm like a forty two?
00:04:30
Speaker 2: Wow?
00:04:31
Speaker 1: Is that okay? So the argument is, look, folks, whoever took the video was a little ways away or some of the videos you say they are a little ways away. You zoom in, you lose some sharpness and maybe it's a little grainy and he looks a little different.
00:04:43
Speaker 3: That's fair, right, yes, But there are a couple photos where it's pretty clear. I mean you can see whoever it is. You have one in front of yeah, like these right here?
00:04:55
Speaker 2: You don't think that looks like him? Everyone's like, who is this?
00:05:00
Speaker 1: There's some thinness or in the cheek in the face that makes me stop.
00:05:05
Speaker 3: But again, people are talking about the jaw line. I say, right there, that does not look like usher. And the jawline is what a lot of folks.
00:05:13
Speaker 2: Are pointing to.
00:05:14
Speaker 1: That's messing with me. Okay, so as responding, we're going to share that as well. But world, is that fair from a distance zooming in a little grainy lighting is a little different? Is it possible? It just looks a lot, But there's video of this guy moving around, Yeah, and not just a freeze frame. All right. You're looking at it differently.
00:05:33
Speaker 2: Now, and it's not just one person saying it.
00:05:35
Speaker 3: I mean a lot of people are saying the exact same thing.
00:05:39
Speaker 1: Okay, let's share with you some of what people are saying hilarious and some of this is hilarious. You have it in front of you.
00:05:45
Speaker 3: Yeah, here, all right? Someone says, are you fucking serious?
00:05:48
Speaker 2: Right now? Why would he do this? Another one? Is this the real usher?
00:05:53
Speaker 3: Or did New York just get a high budget body double with the wrong dance moves asking for every fan still waiting on that refund?
00:06:02
Speaker 2: How about this?
00:06:03
Speaker 3: Heck? No, how are you gonna have a look alike perform when people paid to see you? Now?
00:06:08
Speaker 2: I agree with that?
00:06:09
Speaker 1: Is it fair? One song? Though, babe? Is it fair? One song? Yeah, it's fair. That's a fair criticism.
00:06:15
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that is a bait and switch. That just it just feels disingenuous. It doesn't feel right, and.
00:06:22
Speaker 1: You can't announce it. You can't tell people ahead of time. At some point, I'm going to use a look alike. You can't do that.
00:06:28
Speaker 2: Someone said he was still there though he had a boo boo break.
00:06:32
Speaker 3: That was my backspasm theory. But you're right, he had to have somebody maybe does everybody do a lot of artists who have a lot of performance and have possible problems that could come up, have someone standing by, Like yeah, so on Broadway, right, you get your stand in or you have the understudy. And sometimes when things happen, which they often do, you'll get a little leaflet in your playbill that says, the part of X is now being played by the understudy for whatever reason.
00:07:06
Speaker 1: You know that going in, And that's different.
00:07:08
Speaker 3: Well, sometimes you find out when you get to the seat because you didn't realize it was a last minute change or something happened.
00:07:15
Speaker 1: But we all know that going in that that's a possibility. Robes of a play trick. If I pay the Sea Beyonce, you're not gonna slip me a little note once I get there and say the role of Beyonce will be played tonight by Tina Johnson from Texas. No, that doesn't work like that. You cannot do that. But I'm still asking one baby, one song? Do you have to be one song?
00:07:41
Speaker 3: It doesn't feel that I don't think you should get a full refund because of one song. But I do think that people don't like being lied to or tricked, and I do think the better way to have done it would have to have said made an announcement like Hey, we got a body double.
00:07:57
Speaker 2: Just have some fun with it while he has to go do.
00:07:58
Speaker 1: Something, I don't know, some fun with it.
00:08:01
Speaker 2: I wonder like, could you announce it?
00:08:03
Speaker 3: There? Obviously was a reason he didn't. He wasn't just tired and didn't feel like performing that song.
00:08:09
Speaker 1: So now you're saying it wasn't him.
00:08:11
Speaker 3: Oh, I'm just operating under the theory that it wasn't him, And I'm just wondering if he just if this was true, if this wasn't him, why not go ahead and if it's just one song, be transparent.
00:08:26
Speaker 2: I think people don't appreciate being tracked.
00:08:28
Speaker 1: Being cool though he had other options. He had a bunch of stars there last night on stage. I think Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Ashanti like you could have had. Hey, this is USh just taking a quick one. I got this one, and I have somebody up there to do that. And again we're talking like he actually did this. We this is not confirmed at all, but my favorite from someone online saying, everybody else using AI but Usher went old school with the fake content methods. Just put another persons.
00:09:00
Speaker 2: Someone said this is Asher, not Usher. Yes, I thought someone.
00:09:04
Speaker 3: I thought someone was funny when they said, this is not Usher, it's Ussher.
00:09:08
Speaker 1: You know what someone else? You know his full He had an album it was called Usher Versus Raymond because at last he's Usher Raymond and they were saying, y'all got Raymond Usher. Everybody likes to use TAMU version, right, the Tamu version of Usher. Somebody said, imagine paying full price just to get the Tamu version of Usher. Someone said, you'll be paying your rent money for tickets to this shit. Celebrities don't respect you enough to be on stage. Time to wake up, y'all. You funding someone's wealth and he don't even show up. Bad business now, Really, some are making a fun to get pissed.
00:09:45
Speaker 2: Yes, a bad taste in people's mouths.
00:09:47
Speaker 3: And obviously performers and artists are nothing without their fans. So yeah, you don't want to piss off seventy thousand fans because I don't know, you thought it'd be okay to go take a potty break or whatever it was you were doing, if that's what he did.
00:10:02
Speaker 2: This one was funny. It looks as if Usher and Snoop Dogg had a child.
00:10:05
Speaker 1: He kind of does with the jaw. The jaw line a thinner jaw line. I mean Usher has a rounded face.
00:10:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, this guy like a like a model, kind of a model.
00:10:17
Speaker 1: Because yes, he looks like he's what they call this looks maxing one of those guys. Now, this is what he looks like. Another person said, using or rather Usher took the phrase work smarter, not harder, a little too literally. That's funny. That's funny as well. Now one robes a guy who said he was there last night spoke in opposition, and I weren't a lot of people defending or saying that was him. But one person said, listen, I was there last night. He's a forty seven year old man. His face will change as time passes. I've seen Usher four times live. That was him one thousand percent.
00:10:53
Speaker 2: Okay, for.
00:10:58
Speaker 1: I'm still I'm probably going to get forty five here in a moment. But I am saying it's not a whole concert. Obviously, you wouldn't send him, No, I couldn't do that. But one song is the argument, just a brief time that he was out there and ropes, would you believe? Yes, we're talking about Usher this morning, but he is not the only one who has done something possibly like this. Now he is alleged to have done it. Let me keep saying that, but other artists have come out and flat out said, yep, this is what happened. We'll explain that, and we will first let you hear Usher's response to the accusation that he used a body double. Continuing here on Amy and TJ. Was it Usher or not? Was it Usher or not? For a brief moment on stage last night MetLife Stadium during his concert tour. He's being accused by many, and the video out there at least a portion of his concert robes he used a body double, a look alike. He did respond rose, but he was responding in I think just in response to people on Instagram. He didn't make a whole post.
00:12:12
Speaker 3: No, no, he put a he put a comment up on one of these posts where they were alleging that he had a body double, had a clone, and so he actually put in the comments, y'all are funny, clone you can't clone this.
00:12:26
Speaker 1: What do you think about that response?
00:12:28
Speaker 2: Cheeky?
00:12:29
Speaker 1: Maybe to him, Robes, this is silly because he was on stage the whole time and he knows it, so he might just find this to be a whole bunch of foolish.
00:12:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, how do you defend yourself?
00:12:38
Speaker 3: I mean, if you really if he really didn't do it, and it really was him the entire time, how would you approach it? He approached it with humor, He had an He actually followed up with the second comment with how y'all come up with this?
00:12:49
Speaker 2: AI? Ain't that advanced?
00:12:52
Speaker 1: What do you think about that response?
00:12:54
Speaker 3: Again, it's like he's brushing it off. He's acting as if it's not worth an.
00:12:58
Speaker 1: Actual response, and that might be the truth for him. Robes, this might be are y'all serious? Y'all y'all think I sent somebody else out on stage?
00:13:07
Speaker 3: Maybe? Right?
00:13:08
Speaker 1: But also Robes, it's maybe as people are advising him, or he's doing this on his own, it doesn't rise to the level. It's not necessary. However, if he did send out a double, he should admit it. He can't. Why maybe everybody will come out and see him Wow. Maybe that's an issue, Robes, he can never admit wow to this. And whoever was out there, potentially possibly allegedly on stage, has an NBA as tight as one you've ever seen in your life.
00:13:37
Speaker 2: That's true.
00:13:38
Speaker 3: And look this, I don't know if this is going away, though I am laughing so hard. I'm seeing more people. You can't tell if this is usher, gusher or brusher.
00:13:47
Speaker 2: People are hilarious. I do love I'm here for the comments.
00:13:52
Speaker 1: It's but it's the This is when you say somebody is accused of something, it sounds like the end of the world these days, right, you know? Oh God?
00:13:58
Speaker 3: What?
00:13:59
Speaker 1: No, this is a funny one. At least the accusation is about some silliness on stage. I don't know if anybody would be that upset. I don't know if I paid. I don't know how much we paid for those tickets to go see Kendrick Lamar and Sissa. If somebody would have come out and done one song instead of Kendrick annoyed, I would have been annoyed. It's true. I would have been annoyed. So has this happened before? Is this the thing? It's not supposed to be a thing. However, we have three examples here robes, one from Billie Eilish, one from Miley Cyrus, and another from Akon who was a big star. But these are their admissions robes Billy Olish twenty twenty two Coachella performance. She said she puts somebody out on stage only a brief time, but was out there. Crowd had no idea that it was happening, and she just how she had to do was kind of stand there to stand in and some dramatic lights came up and whatnot. But she commented about it and flat out admitted she did that at Coacho Wow.
00:15:01
Speaker 3: Yeah, she said, the beginning of Coachella, I had a body double one of my dancers for the show.
00:15:06
Speaker 2: I dressed her up in a show look that I had worn before.
00:15:09
Speaker 3: We got a black wig, we put buns in it, and we gave her a mask and sunglasses, and she wore my shoes and my socks. I put her up at the back of the stage and she stood there while the lights went on, and everybody thought it was me, and nobody ever knew it wasn't me.
00:15:25
Speaker 2: Literally, nobody knew.
00:15:27
Speaker 1: Okay, that's a stand in a moment, not singing and dancing exactly. That's a little different. It's very different. Same thing with Miley Cyrus who was performing as Hannah Montana in a two thousand and eight tour. This one got a little attention. Roll was because it was Hannah Montana. This was you remember how big of was that she was everything everything? She was everything. So this only happened for a few moments while she changed her clothes. She needed a break, just to change clothes and come back out. The other person never sang, never danced or anything, but stood there.
00:15:58
Speaker 2: That I understand. That doesn't bother me at all.
00:16:00
Speaker 1: But that got attention, and people were worked up because it's Hannah Montana. It's Disney's right, Disney anything controversial. The hilarious one is acon. This one's great now a lot of I see you wanting and grinding up on that pole. That guy from that song, he had a bunch of hits in the nineties. I remember him. He said. He used his brother as a double but Robes not just to stand in on stage, not just for one song. He said, Robes Akon was so popular he would get double booked. He would send his brother to perform at another show somewhere and fool the whole crowd to think they were singing Akon Stop. And he said he did it because we were leaving money on the table. I couldn't be at all the places, so I sent him.
00:16:52
Speaker 3: He admitted, my goodness, that's and this was when he was at his height, But how did people not put two and two together if he was double booked? Perhaps can you be in Vegas and in Boston at the same time.
00:17:04
Speaker 2: I don't know.
00:17:04
Speaker 1: I'm just throwing that out there because if you're in Ghana and the UK, maybe you're not paying as much attention. It's that kind of thing. He said he had another brother, Robes, who was also doing it that he didn't know about. His brother was taking advantage of his name and going out and doing shows and getting bad. Stop and if you see Akon and his brother, you go, okay, Yeah, they look exactly alike. Acon's a dark brother. His brother looks the same skin tone that they look min you would getful. And if that dude had on a hat, Okay, what do you think about that picture? She's still showing me pictures.
00:17:39
Speaker 2: Of picture looks more like him. Were his hats on backwards?
00:17:44
Speaker 1: Oh? So that's the real one, they.
00:17:46
Speaker 3: Say, pictures of the so called usher clone from last night. So I don't that that looks like his expression? Right?
00:17:54
Speaker 2: That looks like him there, That looks like him there.
00:17:56
Speaker 1: But the hats on differently. Same outcol I don't.
00:17:58
Speaker 2: Know if it's from another night.
00:17:59
Speaker 3: But that looks like his facial expression, so maybe it was him.
00:18:04
Speaker 1: I'm some sid at forty two.
00:18:06
Speaker 3: It is true that as you get older, your face thins, and he does have that baby face, he does have that round head.
00:18:13
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he looks good.
00:18:15
Speaker 2: He looks great.
00:18:16
Speaker 3: But when you have a fuller face to begin with, when you start aging, you look better when you get older because your baby fat on your face starts to thin out. A lot of people look gaunt and awful because they already had thin faces.
00:18:26
Speaker 2: He's got that fuller face, so yeah, he might. You can get a jaw line.
00:18:29
Speaker 3: He's like, my jaw line has gotten more prominent as I've gotten older because some of the baby fat.
00:18:35
Speaker 2: That's what I see when I look at that photo.
00:18:37
Speaker 1: Okay, so there you go. There it is folks. She we eventually got there. But Robes has now giving a given us a legitimate reason. Yeah that possibly Usher's face could look thinner in that lighting on that stage, and from a distance, you have actually given us a real medical reason.
00:18:58
Speaker 2: I really do think that's true.
00:18:59
Speaker 3: And I will say some of the photos, it's if they're all from last from the same night, if they're all from that moment on stage because it's the same outfit. To me, it's the facial expressions. He's got very specific facial expressions. There's a sweetness to his face, right, so if I see like the way he smiles to me, that is that is what.
00:19:21
Speaker 2: That's how you can tell.
00:19:23
Speaker 1: So now your percentage is lower even.
00:19:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, I know I'm at fifteen percent.
00:19:28
Speaker 1: Now, okay, you're lower. I will end on forty. Just a fun one today by all means, go look at the pictures if you haven't already googled them while we were talking to you here. But it's a funny one. It's a funny debate, and let us know, please what your percentage is if you think it was him or not. Then with that, we always appreciate you listening to us. I'm to you, j that's Robes. Talk to you soon.
Speaker 1: Hey, that folks. It is Sunday, August ninth, and one of the biggest R and B stars in the world at this point. He's a legend Usher and we know what Usher looks like. 00:00:39
Speaker 2: I think it's him. I think it's Yeah, what do you think.
00:00:43
Speaker 1: I don't know.
00:00:44
Speaker 2: You actually are on the fence.
00:00:46
