Speaker 1: Hey, that folks. It is Thursday, August twentieth, and wasn't it.
00:00:06
Speaker 2: John bon Jovie famously asked, who says you can't go home?
00:00:13
Speaker 3: I love it?
00:00:13
Speaker 4: TJ. Holmes quoting John bon Jovi, I never thought this day would come.
00:00:17
Speaker 2: Oh yes, Yes, an engagement to a white woman will do that to you. With that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ. Yes, who says you can't go home? Well, maybe Prince William is going to say you can't go home, But right now, what we know, in a shocking, shocking turn of events ropes two of the most famous US citizens are about to head back and become two of the most famous citizens in the UK.
00:00:42
Speaker 4: And I don't know how any of you all listening feel, but I had an immediate emotional reaction of joy, happiness, and excitement. And that's kind of embarrassing to admit, because I don't fancy myself as somebody who actually has real emotions attached to people I've I don't personally know, but we I feel like we've been rooting for Harry for the longest time and Meghan, they have been through it. Whatever you think of her or whatever you think of them, they have been through it, and when you have to do that isolated from family and actually accuse your own family as being a part of it, that is the worst kind of loneliness for them, for their children. So the idea that they could all actually start repairing relationships and find their way back to each other makes me so happy.
00:01:31
Speaker 2: Well, we don't know how this is going to immediately go, but your reaction was one, what'd you say, robes of joy excitement? Mine was confusion, like, what the hell is happening? Where did this come from? And then my next, if I'm being honest, my next concern was for Megan Markel. Good lord, how are they going to treat that woman when she goes back to the UK.
00:01:53
Speaker 4: And you know what, when you said that, I immediately understood. I think I was thinking more about just repairing family dynamics and being able to be a part of this legacy that Prince Harry has been in his whole life. But you're right, the British tabloid press, the media there is ruthless.
00:02:14
Speaker 3: They're vicious.
00:02:15
Speaker 4: They've never been kind to her, they don't like her, and they've not pretended to. Now Harry must have worked out some sort of security deal for this to all be.
00:02:24
Speaker 1: Happening ahead of time.
00:02:25
Speaker 2: Yes, we don't know what that is just yet, but yes, the announcement, yesterday's surprise announcement, out of nowhere announcement that Prince Harry and Megan Markle and their kids are going to be leaving southern California. They are leaving the US after being here for six years, and they are relocating to the UK. This is not temporary, This is not something short term stay. The kids, as we understand, are enrolled already in schools and we'll be starting there this fall. They will go back and they will stay in a private residence. They're not staying in a royal residence robes, but they are relocating. This is enormous news in the UK. It's all they're talking about. Every headline, every paper, every presenter, every show, everybody.
00:03:13
Speaker 4: This is it And we don't know anything. We don't know how this is going to work. Are they giving up their beautiful home in Los Angeles? And I just feel like, what's William going to say about all of this? Have they even spoken in recent months years? When's the last time they were together.
00:03:37
Speaker 2: I think we have something on it, because the coronation. The King's coronation was twenty twenty three. They were together for.
00:03:44
Speaker 3: That and Meghan didn't go to that ditch.
00:03:46
Speaker 1: She it was not there for that one.
00:03:47
Speaker 3: So this is good.
00:03:48
Speaker 4: I mean, Meghan didn't even step foot as far as we know, not officially in London. When she and the kids were able to meet with us the King, that was outside of London.
00:03:58
Speaker 3: So this is a big deal. And there is a reason.
00:04:00
Speaker 4: Why they haven't stepped foot in London because of what they went through, because of the scrutiny, because of the attention, and because of the concern of not having the protection they need. They must have been working something out privately that none of us were aware of.
00:04:17
Speaker 3: Look, the palace is known.
00:04:18
Speaker 4: If they want to keep a secret, they can keep a secret, and they announce things when they want to. But nothing is by accident. This is all orchestrated. It's just been going on behind closed doors, and it is shocking.
00:04:29
Speaker 2: And we're told the King found out about this on Sunday. We have not gotten worded anywhere about how when William found out about this and what his reaction might have been. Watch for that closely robes, because is it fair to say, I don't look by all reporting this relationship with his brother, this falling out, And yes, Megan Markle was at the center of all of this. No, not blaming her for it, that relationship that Harry had with Megan starting from the beginning, It's was something that William Orportly was not supportive of. Hell, Harry has talked about this in his books and confrontations he.
00:05:09
Speaker 3: Had with it, which has not helped the relationship.
00:05:12
Speaker 1: He's putting stuff out there.
00:05:14
Speaker 2: Look, he has every right to do it, but it has heard his relationship with his brother to the point they are not on speaking terms. These kids that we all wanted to hug when their mom died.
00:05:25
Speaker 3: Yes, the two of them, those two little boys.
00:05:28
Speaker 4: The fact that they aren't speaking over a woman, which is difficult. And again we don't want to blame Megan, but that is what we are not created the bigger rift, and certainly not blaming.
00:05:38
Speaker 3: Her for that.
00:05:39
Speaker 4: But I feel sad for their children. The fact that it's what are the ages of the kid's seven year old Archie, five year old Lillabet? Do they I'm assuming they do not have any relationship with their cousins. The future King of England and his brother and sister Louis, and I forgot her name, George Louis, And.
00:06:04
Speaker 3: I can't think of.
00:06:07
Speaker 1: You not ask me not a Catherine in there.
00:06:09
Speaker 4: That's what I was gonna say, But no, it's something I'll come up with it.
00:06:12
Speaker 2: But to your point, Robes, that's how cute, how adorable should that be? To have Harry and William, those two kids Dies, Princess Di's sons, and to have Princess Die's grandkids all hanging together and playing together, they should be. That's those are five kids you can get in the same room, Robes, and they're all in line for the throne.
00:06:40
Speaker 1: That's just cool.
00:06:41
Speaker 4: It is beyond cool. And it's Princess Charlotte, by the way, Charlotte. I would never have come up with that had I not looked it up. But yeah, so to think of them all together around the fireplace at granddad Slash, the King of England's place, waiting for Santa. Yes, you want to think that those images are happening, And I think we're all, I think, as human beings are rooting for that for them. So that's where my mind went initially when I heard that this was happening, because I just feel like there's probably no shot at reconciliation when you're halfway around the world for one another. But when you're close together, you can get together, you can find a way back to each other.
00:07:19
Speaker 3: And I hope that for.
00:07:21
Speaker 2: Them this is a start Robes, but there is Look, there is healthy conversation going on about Initially, this could drive them further apart because William might be like, what the hell I didn't get a heads up? They feel like they're blindsided once again by something Harry is doing. Now, Harry is a grown man, has every right to do whatever he wants to do with his own money. He can move where he wants to, and that's fine. But Robes, would you imagine even if he didn't pick up the phone and call his brother and say this is what I'm going to do some kind of way, William would have had to have been had to have known.
00:08:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, obviously he would have been given a heads up. I would imagine even if it's Harry's people told Williams people. That's probably how they roll, at least at this point. If they aren't talking, they've got people who can coordinate and discuss matters between the two parties, almost acting as attorneys for folks who have been divorced. But that is kind of what it seems like it is. So yeah, and man, could what you pay to know what William's reaction was in that moment? Would he have been happy, sad, scared, alarmed? I don't know, Like it could be a range of emotions.
00:08:32
Speaker 2: See again, it's just so if these two aren't talking each other, this rift robes, it's deep, Hey, it's deep.
00:08:40
Speaker 1: What does this do for now?
00:08:41
Speaker 2: Reminder, all this fallout started with the family, Yes, almost immediately after they started dating, and then they got engaged, and William was the one who felt they were moving too fast and then everything happens and that Oprah interview robes were are they sitting out back? And like, yes, I can still see.
00:08:56
Speaker 4: It in California, in southern California at Oprah's place out there, and yeah, that's when they started talking and that is not something that the Royal Family is ever okay with. So they started talking about racism, racism in the Royal family, asking how dark their baby's skin would be, that sort of thing, and that was it.
00:09:22
Speaker 3: It was over.
00:09:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, there was no coming back from that, I know the Royal family has gotten rightful accusations and criticism about how it's handled race over centuries. Ropes like some call them the ogs of racism. To hear them talking about it from the inside, Broes, this was an explosion for the Royal family and they haven't gotten back together since. But stay here, we will give you a timeline reminder of just this thing has gone down and got us from their first date essentially to today Megan and Harry. And also we will also, yes, Robes, believe it or not, Harry spoke he was asked about this last night because he was in DC foreign events. We'll tell you what he had to say last night.
00:10:29
Speaker 4: Welcome back everyone to Amy and TJ. I think we all remember as we watched with the World Megan and Harry falling in love, and I actually thought it was further back than this. But their blind date, the one they met on, was July of twenty sixteen, so literally almost exactly ten years ago.
00:10:51
Speaker 2: And then problems started immediately, Robes, and by November of that same year it was official that the two were dating. But then Harry started to complain already about the some of the coverage that their relationship was getting, in particular his new girlfriend. And yes, he did say it had some racial undertones.
00:11:08
Speaker 4: Yes, And then it was a year later, November of twenty seventeen that they announced their engagement.
00:11:13
Speaker 3: And then just a few months later.
00:11:15
Speaker 4: May nineteenth, twenty eighteen, that was their big wedding where so many of us saw all those beautiful pictures. I mean we were all ooing and eyeing and following him. It was a big deal. It was awesome. I remember the preacher from North Carolina, the Ruad.
00:11:29
Speaker 1: Yes, we love him.
00:11:31
Speaker 2: So they moved forward. By May of twenty nineteen, Archie is born. That in January of twenty twenty they announced they're stepping back from their royal duties and they move to la The second child, Lillabette, was born in June of twenty twenty one. Then, of course, in September of twenty twenty two, Queen Elizabeth died. I didn't read the book Spare that was published in January of twenty twenty three, that was Harry's memoir, but I had a lot of stuff in there that once again robed putting royal business out there in the streets.
00:11:58
Speaker 4: Yeah, talked about his strange really relationship with his brother, accused his brother of some awful stuff. It's in print out in mass distribution for everyone to read. That is so hard to come back from in terms of repairing a relationship like that, especially when your brother's going to be the King of England.
00:12:17
Speaker 2: So that book was published in January of twenty twenty three. In May of that same year, Harry attended his dad's coronation, Yes his brother was there alongside. And then in February of twenty twenty four, Harry went back to the UK only their a day visited with his dad. Nothing came from that. Then in September last year, so his dad, for the first time in a year, they had tea together in London, and then of course wrote just last month Harry and Megan and the kids spent time with the King and this was the kid's first time seeing grandpas since twenty twenty two.
00:12:47
Speaker 1: The funeral.
00:12:48
Speaker 4: Yeah, neither one of them probably remembered it because yeah, oh right, Archie would have been four and little Bit would have been not even a year, so that, yeah, this is the first time that they probably ever even recalled or remembered meeting their Grandpa.
00:13:05
Speaker 2: That was nice and that was cool to hear. If that look, that's if that can happen. And if you put the kids all in one room, they're going to be fine. It's not like the kids got beef with each other, So that's not really the issue.
00:13:15
Speaker 1: It's the parents.
00:13:16
Speaker 4: And maybe that visit prompted what we're seeing now, this move. Maybe there was hope, there was a door that opened, and they have decided to walk through it.
00:13:25
Speaker 2: This is really really I am absolutely hopeful and terrify for Megan Markle. I just amroopes. But uh mexit is what they call it. Remember yo, exit wing is exit. When they left, they have been brutal for this woman, and now they get a chance. Oh we get her back ropes. People are going to be hired, get jobs because of this. Photographers are getting ready. It is about to be open season to go grab this.
00:13:51
Speaker 4: Having a small taste of that for a little bit in our lives, how awful that was, and I say a fraction of what they've experienced.
00:13:58
Speaker 3: I just that make my heart hurt for her.
00:14:01
Speaker 1: So concerned. Certainly, we don't have the timing.
00:14:04
Speaker 2: We don't know when they're officially going to be back over and be settled again.
00:14:07
Speaker 1: But ropes.
00:14:08
Speaker 2: He just happened to be in an event for the veterans in DC last night. A reporter was able to shout a question about this after the story broke to Prince Harry, and he gave a long and really detailed answer to all the questions we have about why he's moving.
00:14:24
Speaker 3: Very funny, he said, I have nothing to say.
00:14:27
Speaker 1: That was it.
00:14:28
Speaker 3: That ended it?
00:14:29
Speaker 4: Okay, But yeah, and look in terms of when they're moving, it has to be soon.
00:14:33
Speaker 3: School school's gonna start. They're enrolled for the fall. That looks like that's next month, babe.
00:14:37
Speaker 2: So wow, yeah, you got to get that back to school shopping and all that good stuff. So the speculation, I didn't list some of these roads because nobody knows for sure the reasons for why this could be happening. People talk about the King's health. He knows something the rest of us don't. He wants to be close by I want the kids to be close by something else their careers. What's going on? Has this whole brand building thing? As well as Megan Markle, is she on the way to being Martha Stewart's like she wanted to who knows money issues. I know they had big, kind of big deals. You don't think about these folks having money issues necessarily, but.
00:15:13
Speaker 3: One off big deals.
00:15:15
Speaker 4: Even the book itself, At a certain point, when you're living in multi multimillion dollar mansions paying exorbitant taxes, the money does still run out.
00:15:23
Speaker 3: If you can't keep it coming in.
00:15:24
Speaker 1: The money still runs out.
00:15:26
Speaker 2: That's a very good point you make, Robes and the other thing folks want to throw out there is some kind of way Trump related, like.
00:15:32
Speaker 3: I feel like that's the least likely of them all.
00:15:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, but short of another answer, we wait and never could imagine them going back, Never could imagine. So keep an eye on the British tabloid. I was looking at all the British stuff this morning.
00:15:47
Speaker 4: They're going wilds, they're going wild. Hopefully we will keep you updated on everything we hear. Without everyone, though, we always appreciate you listening to us. I made me roboch alongside TJ. Holmes.
00:15:58
Speaker 3: We'll talk soon.
00:16:00
Speaker 1: The techn
