"NO MORE MR. NICE GUY": Trump Re-escalates Rhetoric, Threatens To Knock Out Iranian Infrastructure

Exactly two weeks after his Easter post threatening to wipe out an entire civilization, President Trump’s latest social media post suggests he’s willing to return to that threat if Iran doesn’t take our deal. Trump saying he will “knock out every single power play and every single bridge in Iran” and it will be his “honor” to do what has to be done.

Speaker 1: Hey, that folks. It is Sunday, April nineteenth, and two weeks ago, the President put out a truth social post saying that he would wipe out an entire civilization. That was just him being nice. Welcome to this episode of amyr tj Rows. The President is up than he is on social media once again, and this time he's saying, Robes, no more, mister nice guy. Doesn't that seem ominous at this point? The other stuff was him being nice?

00:00:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, I kind of read it as he was a nice guy because he didn't follow through on his threat to wipe out an entire civilization, and now he's putting that back on the table. He didn't use those words, but he's making the same exact threats he made two weeks ago. While he said an entire civilation civilization will die, he said they will die because he's going to take out their entire infrastructure. And that is what he is threatening to do now in this latest truth social post.

00:01:02
Speaker 1: And this is when we got just minutes ago up on this recording. We did not plan on doing an episode on this this morning, but sometimes we wake up Robes and overnight we're like, wow, we should just do an episode a day on nothing but the stuff he puts on social media. Because it does make headlines, it does make news. Sometimes it does cause markets to go one way or another. But ro this is significant, and this is where we get so much of our news. Some people compliment and say, yay, he's talking directly to the American people. Other people will look at this stuff and say, oh my lord, here we go again.

00:01:32
Speaker 2: Well, this is a way for him to say what he wants to say, unfiltered through a media ends. He gets to put out exactly what he wants his words to be. He can think about them, he can choose them carefully, and so that's I think what makes these posts even more disturbing because this isn't an analysis or an interpretation of what he said, or anyone weighing in on why they think he said what he said. No, this is him, unfiltered, saying exactly what he is thought through to put into writing to then disseminate to the world. And I think that's what makes these posts all the more important and at the same time oftentimes troubling, because this isn't just him. I know, we can kind of say it feels like he's just spouting off, but think about it, to actually type it, to read it, to make sure you don't have typos, to carefully choose how many explanation points you want to make, and how many things you want to capitalize, Like this is deliberate and thought through, and he still put this out there.

00:02:35
Speaker 1: I've always been amazed robes as much as he writes they are there. I mean I can count on one hand and maybe two fingers, the number of times we've seen typos.

00:02:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, there aren't typos.

00:02:46
Speaker 1: They are not robes. And as much as he is putting out these things, to your point, aren't just him. They seem sometimes like popping off of the mouth. But there's a little time and thought put into the summer the stuff I would think.

00:02:59
Speaker 2: And this, this is what he wants not only the American people, but the world to read and know about where he is on whatever topic he's talking about, but specifically Iran. And Yes, when he puts out posts like this, I can already see the market futures dropping and oil prices rising. I mean, his words have a tremendous impact financially on the world, but certainly on how people react. And this is serious stuff. This isn't him talking about I don't.

00:03:35
Speaker 1: Know, Jimmy Kimmel, It's not even that kind of from.

00:03:38
Speaker 2: The pope or whatever. This yes, And we often do episodes on all of those things because maybe they're interesting or unusual or a little shocking.

00:03:49
Speaker 1: This has.

00:03:51
Speaker 2: Serious, significant world altering impact, and what he says and how he chooses to say it matters, and so we should be carefully monitoring his true social posts because it isn't just oh there he goes again. This is significant.

00:04:07
Speaker 1: Well, so let's get you caught up on where we are, folks, and the reason we are here today and the reason the President is talking. It's because this is a headline. He is saying that there will be further talks between the US and Iran. That is a big deal, and that is a headline, and that is positive news. The President has let us know in this true social post that we're going to let you hear the whole thing that in fact, that is happening. So negotiations are happening robes. That's a positive. That's a big deal. Ceasefire in place is supposed to wrap up at Monday or Tuesday at some point this week. So if we have talks. That's a good thing with the possibility of a deal. Robes a reminder, Easter was two weeks ago. Two weeks ago, right, we.

00:04:45
Speaker 2: Got correct two weeks ago.

00:04:46
Speaker 1: Today we got that message from the President that a civilization is going to die tonight is the word that the President told us. He didn't follow through on that. Some talks that develop didn't come up with a deal. So Robes, we did get a ceasefire at least in place for further conversation. But what has happened now is that there's a back and forth Robes over the strait of hormones. Is it open? Is it closed? Who opened it? Who closed it? We got a blockade of a strait that Iran is saying is already closed. So there's some confusing back and forth, and the President absolutely Robes wants to take credit for being the one in control of turning that thing on and off, and Iran keeps telling them you ain't.

00:05:32
Speaker 2: It's so wild to see a pr war among leaders happen at the same time an actual war is being waged. I don't know that we've ever seen anything like this.

00:05:44
Speaker 1: It's always propaganda. They just have access to it. Them ropes. They can just quickly boom in seconds put out whatever message they want.

00:05:51
Speaker 2: I mean, it's remarkable, truly, like just the idea that social media can allow for leaders, no matter where they are in the world, to just fire back at each other verbally and have the world watch and watch and listen and make assessments on who's telling the truth, who's actually in control, who's actually winning, who's actually losing, and it affects what's happening on the ground. But this is scary stuff because, as we've talked about words or weapons, words are powerful, words can be used for good or bad. And this is just scary stuff because look, I think President Trump and a lot of folks who believe in his agenda and his messaging will say that that tough talk, an entire civilization is going to die tonight if you don't do this. That that worked, that that led to the ceasefire agreement, That that led to the negotiations that we've seen, that led to the lessening of just bombs and missiles flying. So maybe they just say, yeah, look, he's doing what he does best. He's a negotiator at the art of the deal. He's just talking tough because that's what you have to do. That's what presidents before him haven't done. And that's why we're actually going to see something change in the world because of this frankly frightening rhetoric.

00:07:11
Speaker 1: Well, he continues the rhetoric this morning. This is the President on true social just a short time ago. And again that's with all the backdrop of what's been happening with the straight orfor moves. We did not mention yet Robes that the straight orform moves not just a matter of opening and closing. Again, there was some back and forth. Maybe you saw that Ran says it was going to be open during the ceasefire. The President said the blockade was going to stay in place. Ran said, that's a violation of the ceasefire. And therefore they went and closed the strait once again. And sure enough, a couple of ships tried to get through Robes in the past twenty four to forty eight hours and reportedly were fired on by Iranian small boats small lure arms fire. But this is the backdrop for what the President has now sent out on social media this morning about what's about to happen next.

00:07:58
Speaker 2: All right, here from the President Trump. From President Trump. Iran decided to fire bullets yesterday in the Strait of Hormuz, a total violation of our ceasefire agreement. Many of them were aimed at a French ship and a freighter from the United Kingdom. That wasn't nice, was it. My representatives are going to Islamabad, Pakistan. They will be there tomorrow evening for negotiations. Iran recently announced that they were closing the strait, which is strange because our blockade has already closed it. They're helping us without knowing, and they are the ones that lose with the closed passage five hundred million dollars a day. The United States loses nothing. In fact, many ships are headed right now to the US Texas, Louisiana, and Alaska to load up compliments of the IRGC, always wanting to be the tough guy. We're offering a very fair and reasonable deal and I hope they take it because if they don't, the United States is going to knock out every single power plant and every single bridge in Iran. All in caps here, no more, mister nice guy exclamation point. They'll come down fast, they'll come down easy, and if they don't take the deal, it will be my honor to do what has to be done, which should have been done to Iran by other presidents for the last forty seven years. This next one is all in caps. It's time for the Iran killing machine to end. Exclamation point. President Donald J.

00:09:28
Speaker 1: Trump, all right, well, stay with us, folks. We're gonna go through this when we come back. And Robes, I want to ask you. You and I haven't discussed this again, this was only minutes ago prior to this recording. We haven't discussed what in there jumps out at you as maybe the most concerning parts. And maybe Robes what we have heard in there that we've heard before, that maybe this has become a crying wolf situation for the presidents there, all right, we continue here on Amy and TJ. I said a crying wolf situation here, Robes. Again, folks were going over the president's latest true social posts, which came down just moments before we hopped on in this recording and in significant roles, because two weeks we got something similar from the President threatening to wipe out an entire civilization. A civilation will die tonight, is how he put it. Now, this latest true social folks, that we just shared. I mean robes, the language or the lines or the words don't seem to rise to that shocking level. But isn't he not saying the exact same threat.

00:10:36
Speaker 2: Yes, that's my point. Take out the an entire civilization will die tonight, and he's saying the same thing. What he threatened to do was to basically blow up their entire infrastructure, so that means bridges, power plants, so no way of logistically getting around Iran, no way of having any sort of energy running water, like, just literally crippling an entire country by blowing up key infrastructure targets. And what we saw when he threatened this last Sunday, two sundays ago, on Easter Sunday, we saw women and children forming human chains around power plants, lining bridges, saying if you blow these up, you have to blow up all of these women and children. And what did the president do? Look, he claims that they came to the table. Pakistan claims that, hey, look look what happened. Everyone came to the table. So maybe that is what happened. Maybe maybe that did scare the Iranians to the negotiating table. But you could also look at it from another perspective, and what the Iranians are claiming is that the president was just bluffing, and they called his bluff, and we're now back to kind of where we started, and now we have the president threatening the exact same thing, slightly different tone, but still threatening the same action by the US military against the Iranian people. Frankly, because when you target civilian targets, some have argue a lot of people have argued that that pilots international law.

00:12:04
Speaker 1: Period they call they say it's a war crime to even threaten a war crime.

00:12:10
Speaker 2: Correct, But he's threatening a war crime once again. He took out the civilization thing, but he's still threatening a war crime. You can't target civilian infrastructure and have it. That's not we don't. That's not allowed in the world for obvious reasons.

00:12:27
Speaker 1: So here we go again. But we wait again. So Robes what we are noticing we talk about the Iranians calling the president's bluff. At what point are you hearing this stuff? If you're an Iran it's there? He goes again. He hasn't, Robes, I'm trying to think of the threat he followed through on. Tell me that, I mean, he threatened to bomb them and he bombed them initially to start the war, but rose these threats to get them to the table. What I'm trying to think, to please help me, I'm legitimately asking which one of these types of things has he threatened and followed through on in this particular war.

00:13:06
Speaker 2: Look, it's unclear, I think, because we've heard from him that he threatened a lot of things and delivered, that he took out their entire navy, that he sunk them, that he took out their entire capability of bringing down any sort of opposition aircraft US Israeli that was proved to not be true. He's claimed a lot of things that in actuality haven't proven to be factual. So look, even that I would say is questionable. And if you're an Iranian, I don't even know who's in charge. We don't even know who they're negotiating with. We hear varying accounts from Trump and others saying, who are we negotiating with? Babe? Like I don't know. Is there this third faction in place that shall be unnamed and has nothing to do with the former regime and that we can basically call it regime change, And yet we're getting social media posts from people who allegedly are in charge of Iran saying very differently. So honestly, I think it's super hard to even know what's real and what's not, what's true and what isn't.

00:14:11
Speaker 1: And I think Robes we talk about we were talking about Iranians calling his bluff. It feels there might be a sense Robes that maybe investors are as well, because we haven't seen the same wild fluctuations with every statement, because it's almost a weight and see approach. Well, he said he's going to do this, but is he really Well, the strait is supposed to be closed, but is it really And it seems like Robes and even right now with oil prices, right now, with stock futures, they are not doing the wild fluctuations with this news and the news over the past weekend because there's more of a weight and see versus oh shit.

00:14:44
Speaker 2: Look, we heard the president multiple times at the end of the week saying the war is almost over, it's soon going to be over. We're close to a deal. It's a matter of time, Like you know, it's moved so close. And now the Iranians are saying that they're far from a final agreement. We heard from the President that the Iranians agreed to stop enriching uranium, that they agreed to give us their nuclear dust. We've heard very specific details from President Trump that the Iranians are saying. We never said that, So you know, dust, you don't.

00:15:19
Speaker 1: Know what to believe. We don't know where we are.

00:15:21
Speaker 2: Tough position to be in.

00:15:23
Speaker 1: But the headline right now in this big deal, the President said, and again you're looking at in front of you helped me rogues. He did not specify who the negotiators would be. He said, he's sitting representatives. But last time it was Cushion and wit Cough and JD. Vance. So the usual band of negotiators, if you will. J. D. Van's was the big name to kind of be added here. But we don't know who is going to be going. But he is saying they are on their way and we'll be there for talks on Monday in Islamabad. Once again, that is a big deal.

00:15:49
Speaker 2: Yeah, by tomorrow evening, he says, my representatives. I did point that out. We were talking as we first read this, and I thought, wow, look, I understand Donald Trump is who Donald Trump is, but I still found it so interesting that the president of the United States, the representative of three hundred million plus folks, is saying my representatives. No, shouldn't they be our representatives? Shouldn't they be us representatives?

00:16:14
Speaker 1: No? These are his Look, there's a lot of Americans listening to what you just said, and those aren't my people. A lot of people who listen to that, it's not my president, it's not my war.

00:16:23
Speaker 2: It's yes, but it should be though, But that is the concept of this country.

00:16:26
Speaker 1: But the idea of Roles it is, this is our president. These are our representatives. Every time Rubio shows up somewhere, he's representing you, me, and every other citizen in the United States. That is true, but.

00:16:38
Speaker 2: He clearly looks at it like there is.

00:16:41
Speaker 1: But I think a lot of people now where are isn't that where we are in this country road where people will actually say that this isn't my president just because you didn't vote for him. No, I don't agree with that sentiment, But I'm saying, haven't we gone along this way to where people almost separate themselves from the country because, yeah, that president I didn't vote for is doing that thing, And that's not really. No, everybody else is looking at us as one a whole bunch of American citizens exactly.

00:17:09
Speaker 2: So it's a dangerous thing to try and separate yourself from the man who's elected. And unfortunately, when you have somebody who has that mindset, mine mind, mine my people, my war, my choice, my ballroom, my white house, that is scary and that isn't what our founding fathers wanted. We are the United States of America, and prior to this president, I do believe even if you didn't like who was in office, or you didn't agree, there was still a sentiment of unity, and still an effort made by the president, whether you voted for him or not, to say I represent all of you, and I will consider all of you, and I will reach across the That's the whole concept behind why our democracy has worked up until this point. And I'm not saying it doesn't work now, but it's deeply concerning.

00:17:57
Speaker 1: But he will tell you he's adhering to every one of those principles you're talking about, and if you disagree with that, you are the problem that I mean you that's almost an easy answer. I'm not downplaying what you're saying, but you we we always have these arguments. It doesn't he think this is a no, this is what politics is now in this new lane. When we go back to the other thing you're talking about, sure, we'd love to talk about it. But Robes, yes, this is all in line with what we do and who we are now. And I'm sorry on this Sunday I seem to be accepting it more.

00:18:29
Speaker 2: I'm concerned about what it means for what we will become. I just keep thinking of Rome.

00:18:35
Speaker 1: You know, here's the thing, Robes and everybody remember this. We're gonna be okay. Like the United States have survived a lot worse things than what we're going through right now. We're gonna be okay. Like we just we are.

00:18:46
Speaker 2: You're the positive one and.

00:18:50
Speaker 1: One we think of all the things Ropes, We're gonna survive it. We've survived all kinds of things and scandals and presidents and whatever it may be, tragedies and attacks and Robes. This is the United States of America, and sometimes we have to survive things that come from within and our of our own doing. We're gonna be fine. I really do believe that now. I States is gonna be fine. Look at all the things we've done. Baby, We're gonna be fine. Been some tough times. We have to get over some humps. And we go with racism, you go with war, you go with all all ropes. Will be fine. We're gonna be fine. And it's the beauty. That's the thing that gives me comfort no matter what is happening and many problems I have with this country, and particularly as a black man, there is a beauty of the foundation of what we were supposed to be. And the only struggle we have, Robes, is that sometimes some argue about who deserves to get that to be a part of that ideal, and that's the beauty of it as well. We're still fighting about it, Robes. I don't know why. I don't know what's happening with me this morning. Maybe I had a good night. Maybe I enjoyed Aaron Tavate and Leah Michelle and crew last night too much at Chess on Broadway, and I'm just in a positive mood.

00:19:58
Speaker 2: Well, we were talking. We actually went to a Broadway musical about the Cold War and it's one of my favorite musicals always, So okay, I like how we just ended on a positive note. I'm not going to add anything extra to that, because I appreciate your sentiment and I'll take that with me for the rest of the day today until tomorrow evening when negotiations for Zoom all right, don't you.

00:20:18
Speaker 1: Have to say when negotiations fail?

00:20:20
Speaker 2: No, I see, I was already jumping on your positive ship. And with that everyone, we hope you have a wonderful Sunday as well. Thank you for listening to us. As always, I made me robot alongside DJ Holmes. We will talk to you soon.
