New court documents have revealed singer D4vd, aka David Anthony Burke, is the target of a grand jury investigation into the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The docs detail the first official findings from detectives who found the badly decomposing and dismembered body of Rivas Hernandez in the front truck of D4vd’s Tesla last September. They also reveal D4vd’s parents are resisting traveling to California to testify in front of the grand jury looking into potential murder charges against their son.

Speaker 1: Hey, that folks. It is Wednesday, February twenty fifth, and we are getting a new look at some court documents in the case of singer David who has been named a suspect in the case of a dead fourteen year old girl who was found in the trunk of his tesla. Well, these new court documents make clear that there is a grand jury investigation and he is in fact the target of that investigation. With that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ. This is such a slow moving story or body was discovered last September. Robes Here we are February. Haven't heard a whole lot. We're learning more, I guess on the record now than it seems we've learned in months.
00:00:43
Speaker 2: Yes, we have been waiting for months.
00:00:45
Speaker 3: I think it's fair to say at one point we were checking daily, but certainly we check weekly to see about any updates, any real information surrounding this case.
00:00:56
Speaker 2: And finally, finally, the.
00:00:58
Speaker 3: Only reason why we're getting some information is because apparently his father doesn't want to cooperate with the investigation, and so.
00:01:05
Speaker 2: Because of that, court filings had to be made.
00:01:08
Speaker 3: And now we are getting a clearer picture of what's actually happening behind the scenes. Grand juries convene in secrecy, and that is why we haven't had really any any verifiable information coming out about this case.
00:01:23
Speaker 1: But now these documents say that, yes, this grand jury is meeting and they are being asked to decide whether or not charges should be coming against singer David. A reminder, David, it's spelled D four v D. This is a thing a lot of artists are doing now. It's an online thing. It's a TikTok social media type thing, but they replace letters with numbers. But David is his name. David Anthony Burke is his real name. Young, young, twenty years old, up and coming artist and ropes. He was on tour last September when her body was discovered. This was a very odd time, quite frankly, because he didn't immediately stop work and stopped touring when word came that a dead teenager was found in his trunk.
00:02:09
Speaker 3: Yes, when word came that the tesla was registered to him and that he was on tour and a badly decomposed body of a young girl was in his tesla, we thought, oh wow, this case is going to explode within days. But he kept touring. He kept singing, And it wasn't until about a week later when police identified who the body belonged to, fourteen year old Celestrevas Fernandez, who he has now been romantically linked to. Then and only then did he cancel that show for that evening and then eventually, and it took him a couple days before he canceled the remainder of his US tour and eventually his European tour. But this was his big breakout tour.
00:02:51
Speaker 2: This was his up.
00:02:53
Speaker 3: And coming I'm about to be a massive international success tour when this all happened.
00:03:00
Speaker 1: And so as we want to tell you now Robes that you just laid out, we go from that to very little information trickling out. This young lady's body was released to her family, they had a funeral for her, but still we couldn't get is there an official cause of death? You remember good.
00:03:16
Speaker 2: They wouldn't even say homicide.
00:03:18
Speaker 1: They wouldn't even say at the time, that's right, And the medical examiner out there was pissed because what they sealed and wouldn't let him release any information.
00:03:25
Speaker 3: So I believe from what we have gathered, there is a cause of death. They do have one. The medical examiner came to a conclusion. However, yes, he has been ordered not to release any of the findings from the autopsy, his assessment.
00:03:41
Speaker 2: As a medical examiner. All of that has been sealed.
00:03:44
Speaker 3: And he actually spoke out against the LADA saying, you know what, yes, fine, I'll abide by this order, but it doesn't change the outcome in these cases.
00:03:52
Speaker 2: So he was frustrated that he was probably getting.
00:03:56
Speaker 3: Hounded hourly by reporters and he was being told ordered by the court to not release any information.
00:04:02
Speaker 2: So he did publicly express his displeasure in that.
00:04:05
Speaker 1: All right, And I should have said this apologies, should have said this at the absolute very top. But I just want to give your heads up. We're going to share some disinformation that's court filing now, and it is some pretty disturbing stuff. I just want to give you a heads up. We will read directly from this court filing. And again, this was Robes his parents. David's parents are in the Houston area and authorities were trying to get them to come to LA for this grand jury testimony. They were pushing, they were fighting it, and they have lawyers who were saying no, it's unlawful. So that was the back and forth that we've given that context. This now was a part of that court filing explaining why they wanted the parents to come because their son was, as they put it in here Robes the target of the investigation. We'll share the details now, and again just the heads up, some of this stuff is disturbing.
00:04:59
Speaker 3: Yes, So the court filing reads like this that there is now pending in the Superior Court of the County of Los Angeles, the above entitled grand jury investigation by the State of California against target David Burke, wherein target may be involved in having committed the following criminal offenses against the laws of the State of California, to wit, one count of murder. It is alleged in this case that the target, and when we say target, they're referring to David, may be involved in the death of fourteen year old victim, Celeste Revs Hernandez, who may have been the victim of foul play. Her severely decomposed, dismembered body was found in the front truck of Target's Tesla on September eighth, twenty twenty five.
00:05:47
Speaker 1: Yes, it is, but we they named him an account. Remember I don't think there was a big statement or a big reveal, certainly not a press conference when it became known he was a suspect. Do you remember where we got that information from?
00:06:00
Speaker 3: I remember it happened in November and there was an acknowledgment from several police sources to reputable media outlets that David Anthony Burke was the suspect in the death investigation of celest Hernandez. And so it wasn't an official announcement there we go, but there were several sources where every media outlet felt comfortable reporting.
00:06:22
Speaker 2: That as fact.
00:06:23
Speaker 1: And that's important to note because it makes what you just read here from the court filing that much more important. This is on the record, definitive now telling us for the first time since last September, since this young lady's body was found, on the record, definitive singer David is the guy that they believe, at least authorities believe killed this girl.
00:06:45
Speaker 3: Yes, and that is significant, And this is the first time we have absolute, irrefutable confirmation that that is in fact the case.
00:06:54
Speaker 1: Oh and we don't we should say, I mean, rose was the last time we heard a peep from him, not social media anything, But there has any even been a sighting of some kind to where anybody has any idea where he is.
00:07:04
Speaker 3: Can you imagine how many people. I'm sure there is a tremendous amount of money. Obviously there's a tremendous amount of interest on anyone who can capture a photo of him. And now maybe after this release of documents, his parents as well. They know he lives in the Houston area, or at least his family did, and that is where the tesla was registered to this.
00:07:26
Speaker 2: Town in Texas. So everyone has assumed and presumed he has been living with his parents in Texas, but I haven't seen a photo or any actual physical confirmation that that's the case, and we.
00:07:38
Speaker 1: Haven't heard anything from him certainly or his camp. That was something very very early on, but it wasn't much of anything from somebody attached to him, but it was reported not weeks ago, maybe a couple months.
00:07:52
Speaker 3: Ago, he was not cooperating with the investigation, correct, And the only other information we got was that one of his best friends had also actually been arrested because he too was refusing to testify before the grand jury, and of course that is not allowed if you are Saphena. If you are compelled to testify in front of the grand jury, they're going to make sure you do, and if you refuse, they will confind you and arrest you.
00:08:15
Speaker 2: So that's I believe.
00:08:16
Speaker 3: The last time we even reported or updated this case was that one of his good friends had been arrested for failing to appear in front of the grand jury.
00:08:27
Speaker 1: But folks, stay here, we will share next and again I just want to give you the heads up in the warning some of this stuff is a little gruesome to hear, but we will share again the new details we're also getting from this filing about the tesla when it was reported abandoned, when police came and checked it out, when they came to the impound lot, and what they found. We are hearing for the first time exactly what was in that tesla.
00:09:03
Speaker 3: Welcome back everyone as we discuss this major new development where officially now we are hearing we are seeing in court documents that David Anthony Burke, singer David is officially the target of a grand jury investigation looking into the death into the murder of fourteen year old Celeste Reves Hernandez. You know, we had been referring to her as a fifteen year old. Initially her birthday was the day before her body was found. But when you hear these details that we're about to read and look, it has been reported, but it has not been on the record. These details are now on the record from police about what they found. But clearly she had been gone for quite some time, and so it's fair to now say she was fourteen years old at the time of her death.
00:09:49
Speaker 2: That is so young, that is, I know, it's sad at any point, but just fourteen. Think about that, you know, And.
00:09:56
Speaker 1: So that we talked about this before as well, what the difference is between fourteen and a fifteen year almost.
00:10:01
Speaker 2: It's a big deal. And she went missing when she was just thirteen.
00:10:05
Speaker 1: She'd been missing for at least a year, and several times over the past year and a half had been reported missing. So she was again some trouble in this young lady's life and forward to end in the trunk of a tesla makes it all the more tragic. So we're getting some details here, more details about the discovery of our body in that tesla. So this court filing goes on to say that the police received a phone call from the manager of the Hollywood Area Official Police Garage. The manager stated a black Tesla Model X had been impounded as an abandoned vehicle by the Department of Transportation on September fifth, twenty twenty five. Now, the manager told police there was a strong smell of decay coming from the vehicle, which was attracting flies. Now ropes, we understood generally that detail about this case, but this now goes much much further than that.
00:10:58
Speaker 3: Yes, because all the information we were getting was from reports. This is the actual report, and it goes on to say, and again this is pretty graphic. LAPD detectives responded to the Hollywood tow yard to investigate. Detectives approached the vehicle, which was parked on the upper deck of the impound lot, and immediately noticed a smell of decaying biological material consistent with the decomposing corpse, coming from the front storage compartment of the vehicle.
00:11:27
Speaker 1: You can only imagine, bro, this was September. It's it's southern California, it's warm. They think the body had been in there for a while, so who knows how long you can just think. Again, it was reported early on about the smell and the older was noticed pretty simply, pretty quickly.
00:11:42
Speaker 2: Yes, but this unmistakable.
00:11:45
Speaker 3: Unfortunately, just in our careers, unfortunately I have on two different occasions. It is a smell you never forget and it is there's no other smell like it. I'm sure the detectives knew exactly what they were about to find. However, this was even more gruesome when you hear the details because detectives, yes, then had to obtain a search warrant for the vehicle, and when the front storage compartment was opened, detectives observed observed a black cadaver bag covered with insects and a strong odor of decay. Utilizing black latex gloves, detectives partially unzipped the bag and observed a decomposed head and torso. Investigators and criminalists from the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner responded then to the towyard to process the decomposed body. Upon removing the cadaver bag from the front storage compartment, it was discovered the arms and legs had been severed from the body. A second black bag was discovered underneath the cadaver bag. Upon opening the second bag, the dismembered body parts were discovered.
00:12:50
Speaker 1: She's fourteen troubled. That is in just an awful way to hear of the end of the life of a fourteen year old child. Rbes the details a herd we knew decomposing this membered. I think those things.
00:13:03
Speaker 2: Have been out there, but this is confirmation.
00:13:06
Speaker 1: This is I mean, we say it all the time. We cover a lot of stories. We watch a lot of true crime stories, and the ones having to do with this memberment of a body. We just had a trial we watched that had a guy was accused of chopping up his wife's body. When you add that element, it's just there's a it's hard to get your head around somebody doing that or being capable of doing that. And that's why I guess Scrope some of these stories are so fascinating. We just don't understand.
00:13:31
Speaker 3: You can't imagine someone mentally being able to do that, especially at that young of an age, to another child.
00:13:44
Speaker 2: It's just it's hard to.
00:13:45
Speaker 3: Get your head around that anybody could be capable of it, but certainly this rising, young, attractive pop star who had his whole future ahead of him.
00:13:53
Speaker 2: It's just so disturbing.
00:13:55
Speaker 3: And I also just think of those poor investigators, and I know that they're trained for this and they had to prepare themselves for what they would find with the smell they had in front of them. But still to see that, even to read it, it's hard to process. I cannot imagine seeing it and having to have that stay with you because it would never leave you.
00:14:13
Speaker 2: It's just awful to think about.
00:14:15
Speaker 3: But yes, police are looking for answers, and so they want to speak specifically from what I've read, to David's father, they say that his testimony is quote material and necessary to the investigation.
00:14:29
Speaker 2: And they pointed out that David and.
00:14:32
Speaker 3: His father have a very close relationship somehow that was a big part of this, that he knows him, probably like no one else.
00:14:42
Speaker 1: I thought it was interesting as well. They want to fly him out. They offered two round trip plane tickets, transportation from the airport to the hotel and everything that we're taking care of everything, and they're still getting pushed back. And as far at least right now, there's no indication that he has agreed and that he will be testifying, that the parents will be testifying. But movement, even though we weren't aware of it, there were some movement happening behind the scenes on the s CAP it was.
00:15:09
Speaker 3: Yes, it was happening behind the scenes, and they've been trying This is now being made public. The local Houston station got their hands on these court documents. But they have been requesting David's father and his parents to testify starting February third. They're saying the testimony shouldn't last any more than three days. So if it's now February twenty fifth, yeah, this back and forth or them trying to negotiate getting them to this grand jury in California from Texas has been going on now for around two weeks, it appears, and so we will continue to follow where this case goes, and eventually I would believe that his.
00:15:44
Speaker 2: Parents would have to figure it out.
00:15:47
Speaker 3: They'll have to negotiate it on whatever terms both parties can agree to. But this case is moving forward and it looks like we will be getting some movement on this case at least in the weeks to come, and we will certainly be following it for you.
00:16:01
Speaker 2: So we thank you as always for listening to us. Everyone. I'm Amy Roebuck alongside T. J. Holmes. We'll talk to you soon.
Speaker 1: Hey, that folks. Speaker 3: And he actually spoke out against the LADA saying, you know what, yes, fine, I'll abide by this order, but it doesn't change the outcome in these cases.
00:03:52
Speaker 2: So he was frustrated that he was probably getting.
