Speaker 4: There's a bunch to get you caught up on, because a bunch happened over the weekend. And Robes, let's just get right to it. What we saw on Saturday nights the White House Correspondence dinner, a lot of new details coming out. We also heard from the President of his first sit down interview. So let's get caught up there on I guess and even a lot of people probably missed this on Saturday because it was Saturday night and it was late and he had a press conference. But ten thirty eleven o'clock, a lot of people weren't up on this until they got up yesterday.

Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true, And we would have missed it had your thirteen year old not been checking her phone while we were watching a movie, which is the only reason why we found out what was going on. But yesterday, on Monday, we have a tremendous amount of new details about the shocking and very chaotic scene at this weekend's White House Core responded center the President being rushed off the stage by Secret Service not longer after the event began. All because, yes, an armed man sprinted through a security checkpoint.

Speaker 4: And a lot of this video you've probably seen by now. It's all over social media, has been all over the television all weekend. But yeah, guy sprinted. He was in full sprint by the time he got to that security checkpoint. But he didn't make it to the ballroom. He was stopped by law enforcement. However, he was not shot by law enforcement. That's a part of the story as well. But in that ballroom we're talking about, there was confusion about what was actually going on, what the threat actually was, and rode the threat never entered the room where the President, the First Lady, and his cabinet were gathered with twenty five hundred journalists.

Speaker 1: The President, the First Lady, the Vice President, many members of the president cabinet were all in attendance at the event, and the first mentioned were up on a stage on the dais. And yes, dramatic video of rushing those folks off the stage during the threat.

Speaker 4: We see him get taken off that stage first, and he was actually off the stage. He was gone before President Trump even got out of his seat. It's kind of remarks.

Speaker 4: But the suspects, Yes, the suspect, there was a suspect stopped later identified as Cole Allen. Everybody's looking into his background now, but he's a thirty one year old teacher with a master's degree in computer sciences from Torrance, California, worked for a tutoring service where he was at one point named teacher of the month. To already said he wrote what they called a manifesto that he sent to some family members saying that he planned to target high ranking officials in the Trump administration at this dinner and Robes is another case where there were they say he had troubling behavior and signs and his family was concerned about him. So we'll be hearing more about that.

Speaker 1: But speaking of that manifesto, Yes, President Trump spoke to sixty minutes last month last night, excuse me. This was her his first interview since the Correspondence Center, So less than twenty four hours after Yes, his life was targeted once again. He sat down with CBS's no O'Donnell and wasn't sure that he was the target, but certainly top administration officials were. And when Nora O'Donnell read that manifesto, or at least a part of it where it suggested that the gunman was, he didn't name Trump by name, but said he was fed up basically with a pedophile, a rapist, and a trader.

Speaker 1: So once she read that, he very much got upset with Nora O'Donnell and called her disgraceful, a horrible person, a horrible network, yes, but just disgraceful. And then he did make almost a comedic reference to the video of the gunman rushing through that security checkpoint outside of the ballroom.

Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of people have seen that video by now, but he was. He didn't walk up to it and take off running. He was in full sprint when he did so. And Robes, you made the reference several times, like none of the law enforcement officials gave chase. They did, and I was impressed, Robes. I guess they're taught this, and they reacted not by even attempting to run immediately pull their guns out.

Speaker 4: But the guy was moving and the President made a reference in the sixty minutes interview, yeah, that the NFL needs to check in on this guy because he can really run. Yes, it was a little funny. I guess you can make the crack because nobody got hurt. Seriously, this is serious for a law enforcement officer to be shot absolutely okay, even though he had on the vest and they said he's okay and he's out of the hospital. He was the only one that sustained injury. But it's remarkable Roes how many shots we could hear, at least five plus on video. We've seen the assailant. The suspect was never shot.

Speaker 1: I was never look he was running very quickly, and we did see the immediate reaction in the video of at least one Secret Service agent going to his knee and firing.

Speaker 4: Those bullets are somewhere in a wall that they're gonna figure. We're gonna know this fairly soon. We actually just watched Cash Mattel do an interview this morning on Fox. He alluded to rope some kind of a press conference or information that's going to be released today between them and the dealj So we will keep an eye on that. But as we continue on this run. Still part of this story is that the Trump administration wasted no time citing Saturday's gunman at the correspondence dinner as a reason that construction should continue on the President's much talked about White House ballroom.

Speaker 1: A judge recently ruled construction had to stop and that Congress had to give its approval first. But the Justice Department has now sent a letter to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, that's the group that sued, and gave them a deadline to drop their lawsuit.

Yeah, the oj just said they're going to go themselves to the jail and ask for dismissal, and they plan on robes to end particular say yes, the extraordinary events of Saturday night are why you need to dismiss this lawsuit.

The president's envoys were talking about Steve Whitkoff, Jared Kushner. They were supposed to head to Pakistan over the weekend for another round of talks on Saturday, but President Trump canceled the trip. Yeah.

Speaker 4: Yeah, Nahita Bristie is her name. A doctoral student at the University of South Florida. She went missing on April sixteenth, as did her friend and fellow doctoral student, Zamil Lemont.

Speaker 1: Lemone's body was found near a bridge in Tampa on Friday. His roommate has been arrested in connection with both of the students' deaths and charged with premeditated murder.

They were part of their record runs robes when they played together at Golden State, won four championships together. He is an All Star former All Star, but he plays for Dallas now. But these two had been dating for the past year or so.

But there has been certainly a demand by a lot of folks that that also be a part of this storytelling.
