Speaker 3: Yeah, that story was a really big deal in some circles. Okay, maybe not in this one, but yeah, wherever you might be. It's good to start off with a smile, Rose, because a lot of this stuff is heavy today.

Speaker 1: We'll begin our run with the suspect or the suspected would be gunman at the White House Correspondence Center. He made his first court appearance yesterday, and we learned a lot of new information.

Speaker 3: Well, we got the official charges against him, three counts against him, one attempting to assassinate the President of the United States, two transporting weapons across state lines, and three discharging a weapon during a crime. It was of note roads the charge that was not in there, which had nothing to do with assault of a police officer.

Speaker 4: Yes, so Cole Thomas Allen. They made very clear.

Speaker 1: The whole point of this press conference from the DOJ that we got after this arraignment hearing was to really highlight the fact that Cole Thomas Allen was in fact attempting to assassinate President Trump and then go down through the members of his cabinet, ranking from highest official to lowest, and they wanted to make that a very clear. What they didn't make clear was whether or not he was the person who shot the Secret Service agent the bullet hit him in his bulletproofvest. He is okay, He was out of the hospital within less than twenty four hours. However, we don't know who shot the bullet that hit that Secret Service agent, and DOJ officials would not guess or conjecture as to whether or not it was friendly fire or if it was from Allan's gun.

Speaker 3: So that's why we didn't see a charge of assaulting a police officer. There is another hearing for him set for this Thursday. Continuing on the run here now, President Trump Roomes reportedly is not impressed with Iran's latest peace offering.

Speaker 1: Several outlets are now reporting Iran submitted a proposal to end the war that would require the US to end its military blockade in exchange for Iran then fully opening the Strait of horm Motes.

Speaker 3: The plan would also kick the can down the road for resolving disagreement though around what is supposed to be the biggest deal and the reason why we're at war, Aron's nuclear program. So I don't know if that's going to sit well with President Trump, but reportedly right now he is going to reject this, officer, I'll excuse me, this offer. But the ceasefire right now, robes, which has no deadline on it, is holding.

The show went on for Kimmel last night after the First Lady and President Trump both called for him to be immediately fired by ABC after that joke he made on Thursday night leading up.

Speaker 3: That show was essentially making a roast, a mock roast at the White House Correspondence dinner, made a joke saying that Milania Trump looks like an expectant widow. Now we're used to the President calling for late night hosts to be fired, but this incident was notable rogues because the First Lady got involved here.

Speaker 1: So Kimmell went on last night and explained the joke was about the President's age and health. So he was saying, I was making a reference or a joke, He said, an obvious joke to the age gap between Malania and President Trump. Not sure that was so obvious to everyone, But he did say that he agrees with the First Lady that violent rhetoric is something we should reject. But he added a great place to start to dial that back would be to have a conversation with your husband about it. We have a full episode on the back and forth between Kimmel and the Trumps. So he plans to call a special session today for the state legislature to take up the issue. But it doesn't seem like these things always go according to plan, because there's always another layer to this sort of redistricting.

Speaker 3: Yeah, they started with a trip to the White House yesterday, did have tea with the President and First Lady before heading to the British Embassy for a big yes garden party. The pictures there are kind of funny. You see some familiar faces there, but a lot of people smiling getting the chance to mingle with the royals. But King Charles is going to address a joint session of Congress today, Do I have that right? Three o'clock this afternoon, three o'clock Eastern, And then the official state dinner is tonight.

Speaker 1: It's not going to drop its lawsuit despite pressure, some very public pressure from the Trump administration, which came swiftly after the events of Saturday night at the White House Correspondence Dinner.

Speaker 3: Yeah, the administration sited Saturday's Gunman as a reason that construction of the ballroom should continue. A judge recently ruled that the construction has to stop and that Congress has to give approval robes. They had been making the argument that there was in some way the president's residence, so some private spots of the White House might be exposed because of the underground tunnels and things that have been dug up. That was the argument. Now this new argument is simply that the president needs a place to have and be at a big event without having to worry about security. So they're using the White House Correspondence dinner to make this current argument.

Speaker 1: And the Justice Department even sent a letter to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, that is the group that sued in the beginning, and had given them until nine am to drop their lawsuit.

Speaker 1: Stallion is ending her Broadway run early. She's been playing the iconic role of Zidler in Mulin Rouge. She is the first woman, the first female to take on that role. She has been selling out shows and I had actually, we had actually hoped to have some time maybe to check her out, but that does not look like it is possible.

Speaker 3: Now because we'd have to go tonight quite frankly, and I'm sure that show is probably sold out. But yeah, her last show is going to be this Friday. It was supposed to be two weeks after that. Yes, it was supposed to be an eight week run. That was supposed to end for her May seventeen, but it's ending early and Robes there's no she hasn't said why, no one, there's no official anything, but giving what she's been going through in the headlines and her personal life, who knows.

Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a bummer because everyone on that cast, I've seen quotes that have all been praising her. They just said she's a delight to work with. The audience loves her. Obviously, she's sold out shows, so this was a big deal to have.

So that was on Saturday, and now we received this announcement just a few days later that she is cutting her time on Broadway.
