I'm sure knowing how we know them, parties well underway. But this morning on this Morning Run, hope you had a good weekend. Bad Bunny had a good weekend. He's been having a good few weeks, but this was highly anticipated. He nailed it. I mean this was fun to watch if you didn't see. Bad Bunny hostedt SNL and of course he had to mention a few things. Robes will get into what he said. Then the box office this weekend, the biggest movie star in the world over the weekend happens to be a singer, Taylor Swift. She also cannot stop winning.

Speaker 1: But over the weekend, this is a little disappointing from a guy we love, no one love, But another big time Star had a movie that some are saying bombed at least according to expectations over the weekend. But it's a movie he is getting Oscar buzz for, so we'll see how that's going to turn out. Also, you air travelers, big change from American Airlines, a change in your carry on bag policy, and it probably is not going to affect you one bit. When I saw the headline, I thought one thing. But then when you read into it, what did you think?

We got word he had been stabbed over the weekend, and then the story got weirder because he's the one now facing charges. We'll explain this incident. And the President has a new media target this time is Reverend Al Sharpton. He went after him this weekend and also once again using the threat that licenses should be taken away by the FCC. Woo. Speaker 2: Also on the run this morning, a mass shooting in Alabama's capital city, an effort underway as we speak to rescue hundreds of people on Mount Everest. Votes on Capitol Hill today, But are they going to end the shutdown? Short answer, probably not. And a woman was shot by federal agents in Chicago. Two girls are dead after apparently subway surfing here in New York, the unthinkable. In Texas, a woman charged accues of shooting her four young children, killing two of them. A college on lockdown this weekend after not one but two shootings, and peace talks start today between and Hummas. But we begin our run this morning in Washington, where we are on day six of the government shutdown, and all indications are we're going to get a day seventy Yeah.

Speaker 1: Senate is scheduled to vote on two different versions of the bills that could end the shutdown. One of those bills backed by Democrats, another bill backed by Republicans, both of them are expected to fail. Both sides spent the weekend and especially Sunday morning talk shows where there's a lot of politics going on just blaming each other back and forth for the shutdown. So don't know that there's no end insight is what we could report. We try to just lead with that.

Speaker 2: That should be the story, right, just an update, but so far zero headway made. All right, next up on the run that is not the case, hopefully In this next story, negotiators from Israel and Hamas are in Egypt today for peace talks. There is cautious optimism that this could be it the talks that finally lead to an end of the two year conflict that began October seventh, twenty twenty three anniversaries. Wow. Yeah. They will be discussing President Trump's proposed twenty point peace plan.

Speaker 1: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Natanyahu has already signaled that he's on board. He's made that known he was visiting the White House last week. Hamas has signaled there at least open to the plan. The plan calls for the release of the remaining forty eight hostages, twenty of them believed to still be Alive also calls for hamas to disarm.

Speaker 2: Next up on the Run. A federal judge this weekend blocked President Trump from sending Oregon National Guard troops to patrol the streets of Portland, So the President tried to get around that, but the judge blocked that effort too, and was none too pleased with the president's well just maneuverings.

Speaker 1: Yes, this is my favorite story of the weekend, because the judge granted a temporary restraining order that blocked the President from sending Oregon National Guard to the streets of Portland. So Trump said, cool, I'll just reassign California National Guard troops and send them to Portland instead, since the judge's ruling only applied specifically to Oregon National Guard, but then California suit and in a Sunday telephone hearing, the judge put this question to the administration lawyers, aren't defendant simply circumventing my order?

Speaker 2: Yes, that was a rhetorical question. I believe the President claims he has the lawful authority to do this, and it's necessary to bring order to the streets of Portland, where there have been protests for months. Outside of ice offices. There have been sporadic clashes, but mostly overwhelmingly non violent clashes. So there's a lot of argument that there's no need for this, that that could only that could perhaps make things worse rather than better.

Speaker 1: There is no armed uprising in Portland. We've seen one before in Washington, but this is not that. Continuing on our run here now, President Trump has a new target for FCC scrutiny, Reverend Al Sharpton. Apparently the President didn't like something Sharpton said or was doing on his MSNB MSNBC show over the weekend, and then the President let it be known.

Speaker 2: Yes, and the media post we will warn you is a doozy per usual. I knew l. Sharpton for many years, not that it matters, but he was a major Trump fan. He'd asked me to go to his fake rallies all the time because I brought big crowds and he couldn't get anybody to come without me. He goes on to say that MSNBC is afraid to take him off because it wouldn't be politically correct. This is just one of the many reasons that the Federal Communications Commission should look into the license of NBC which shows almost exclusively positive Democrat content. Likewise, ABC fake news about the same thing, ninety seven percent negative to Republicans. And he added a very old, unflattering picture of Sharpton to a company his social media post. And yeah, but we do have to take these things seriously, as we kind of laugh at his tone, but truly threatening. That is very serious business.

Speaker 1: We've seen the consequences of him threatening it and what ended up happening. As a heads up, the FCC generally does not regulate cable networks, but of course they're in Wait a minute, what's the split with NBC? Now? Now those companies are being they're separate. They are now, so there's now nothing he can do.

Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good point generally speaking. Continuing on the run, now we're head to Chicago. Woman there was shot over the weekend by a federal agent. The woman is facing charges. This incident happened in the Brighton Park neighborhood in the southwest part of the city. Authority say agents were patrolling the neighborhood when their vehicles became boxed in by up to ten other cars.

Speaker 2: The woman, who authority say was armed with the gun, rammed her car into a federal agent's vehicle, and that's when the agent fired at her. She drove off and was caught a short time later. She and another man are facing charges of forcibly assaulting, impeding, and interfering with a federal law enforcement officer.

Speaker 1: We'll turn now to Montgomery, Alabama, where there was another disturbing shooting incident there. This was a mass shooting. Two people are dead twelve others injured in an incident described by authorities as basically two parties shooting at each other in the middle of a crowd. This happened not long after and not far from the Tuskegee Versus Moorhouse rivalry football game there this weekend.

Speaker 2: And the two people who were killed were a forty three year old woman and a seventeen year old boy. Police say multiple people were firing at each other in the middle of the crowd and people got caught in the crossfire. Five of the wounded are said to have life threatening injuries, and no arrests have been made.

Speaker 1: Still don't care who they hit. They're in a fight. They're in a gun fight, and just shooting in the middle of the crowd. At each other. So this was targeted between two groups, they say. We turned to South Carolina State University. Now, it was on lockdown this weekend after two separate shootings on campus that left one woman dead and one man injured.

Speaker 2: Police have made an arrest in connection with one of the shootings, but continued to investigate. The woman who was killed was just nineteen years old.

Speaker 1: Now we got to turn to New York. Now back here where another disturbing story involving young people die. New York police say two girls are dead from apparently subway surfing. The girls reportedly teenagers, and I saw a report this morning from a local affiliate road that one of them was a young as thirteen.

Speaker 1: These two girls were found dead on top of the subway car on Saturday. To be specific, it was the Jay train in Brooklyn. Now, if you don't know, and robes is a bigger thing here in cities that don't have subways, most do not, but this is a huge thing here is in New York. They've been trying to cut down on You get on yes, folks, you get on top of a subway and take a video essentially of yourself doing it, and a lot of people have been posting this stuff online, starting a trend, and authorities of begging everybody please stop this.

Speaker 2: Yeah, and you want to hear some sobering numbers here, at least eighteen suspected subway surfing deaths in twenty twenty three and twenty twenty four in New York alone. There have been three other subway surfing deaths in the city this year. So this is from the head of New York Transit and this is a sobering sentence, but it is very important, and this is what they're dealing with. This is serious stuff. Parents, teachers, and friends need to be clear with loved ones. Getting on top of a subway car isn't surfing. Its suicide. And that is certainly what we've seen here in the last several.

I'm not saying videos we've watched online that TikTok stuff and then posting them, but police have these video I've been using drones here to try to cut down on this. When you see this subway and people standing on it, on top of it, like, what is wrong with you?

Speaker 1: Yeah, he has all kind of safety harnesses and cruise around to make sure he's okay. This is this is a nuts one. Okay, we'll continue on the run here. Now. This is a story just unimaginable. Out of Texas, a mother has been charged with shooting her four young children, killing two of them. Police believe her name is thirty one year old on Ninda Romulus, but they believe she shot the four kids in her vehicle, which they discovered at a gas station.

Speaker 2: This is just I honestly feel physically ill saying this. A thirteen year old boy a three year three year old girl were both killed. A nine year old girl and an eight year old boy were also shopped. They are said to be in stable condition today. The woman's bond has been She's been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault. Her bond to set it fourteen million dollars.

Also on the run, headlines about former NFL quarterback and current Fox Sports analyst Mark Sanchez. He was stabbed this weekend, but he's the one right now facing chargers after an incident. A lot of people still trying to get their heads around.

Speaker 2: Row that's right. Police say Sanchez was the aggressor in a confrontation with a sixty nine year old truck driver in an alley in downtown Indianapolis. According to police, Sanchez reportedly reeked of alcohol when he confronted the man about where his truck was parked. The man, by the way, was just delivering. He was doing what he was supposed to do. He was at work and he was a delivery driver, So.

Speaker 1: Don't understand why this got started. But the man said he feared Sanchez was trying to kill him and pulled out his knife to defend himself. Sanchez has now been charged with three misdemeanors. He was in town to call a game on Sunday. He did not, of course, participate in that. But police say they have video of this thing and they see Sanchez dragging the man out the car, out the truck, throw him to the ground.

Speaker 2: They say they have an an disputable according to them. All right, Next up on the run. Rescues are underway right now for nearly one thousand climbers on Mount Everest. There was a huge snowstorm that hit several camp sites on Friday and a left folks stranded and in need of rescue YEA.

Speaker 1: As of this recording, at least three hundred and fifty people have been reportedly rescued so far. They're at about sixteen thousand feet. Hundreds of rescuers are involved in this now. I don't know what sixteen thousand feet means.

Speaker 2: I do. It's you know, you can't look. I don't know how long they've been there. I don't know how much they've been acclimatized. But that is certainly you lose oxygen. You're not at one hundred percent oxygen. You need water like very much so, because you are quickly dehydrated, and certainly elevation can get you at that point.

Speaker 1: But to think that mean they're in touch with them as just a matter of time at this point. But the snowstorm came and but they got to get to them. How do you have to start over? Do you get to a safer spot, wait for the storm and then people can continue with their journey.

Rather, this is an effort to improve the boarding process. So instead of haggling over the size of the bag with passengers, the gate agent, they say, will air on the side of the passenger. Okay, but still the gay agent has this.

Speaker 1: The film was dubbed a cinematic experience and it was only announced two weeks ago as a companion to her new album. This is the second time she's top the box office. The Aras Tour that film opened to ninety three million dollars back in twenty twenty three. The other notable box office note and it's not a good one for a guy. We have a lot of affinity for Dwayne Johnson. The Smash Smashing Machine had a disappointing open this weekend.

Speaker 2: Yeah, it only made ooh six million dollars and opened at number three this weekend. That is a career low for him. It's definitely, I mean, disappointing is kind of an understatement, but it look, this had oscar buzz. It was He's been highly acclaimed for a dramatic roll, a shift from what we're used to seeing him in. And perhaps maybe it was just the appeal of the movie itself. It's dark, it's a drama. It might not have been the mood people were in it didn't I mean, hopefully, I mean it doesn't seem as of the box office results reflected the quality of the film. The acting. Emily Blunts in there as well, I mean, big major stars who are incredible actors. And look, just because it didn't do well at the box office doesn't mean it won't be, you know, still oscar worthy, and perhaps that'll make more people want to go see it.
