Speaker 3: We're in a bit of a day's We've been traveling for two straight weeks almost and we're still not home. But what's coming home Around the neck of Mikayla Schiffrin. She has done it robes. This is edgier seat stuff, But this is what the Olympics is all about, the agony of defeat. But man, it makes that victory.

Speaker 1: Schiffrin spoiler alert here, but we just watched and were in awe of her gold metal runs in the slalom. And look, this comes after a deficit. She was in Olympic metal debt basically. And I hate to say that, but if you are considered the greatest skier of all time, which she is in most circles, she has not had an Olympic medal since twenty eighteen. She's had an eight year drought, so to speak, and so all the pressure is on when this was her last chance, her last event to bring home a medal. If she didn't bring home a medal in this last event, she would have gone through the last two straight Olympics without being on the podium and still being considered the greatest skier of all time.

Speaker 3: But the Olympics is where it all matters, so to see it all comes together Robe, that's there some pretty big disappointments for big American stars. We were just holding our breath and on the edge of our seats hoping she was pulling this off, and she did, and she won it comfortably, So congratulations to her. This of course after the big news yesterday. Look Amber Glenn, we'll see her skate again tomorrow. But this was another devastating It's not just a matter of devastating because Bergland, the figure skater is probably out of contention for a metal. It's that a split second is what cost her.

Speaker 1: One rotation was the difference between getting gold potentially and nothing at all, and her agony was palpable.

So yes, I was still thinking about that when I was watching Schiffrin take off, because the German who had just gone before her, who was in contention as well, potentially could have spoiled the whole thing went out after the first slalom like media she hit, she was disqualified immediately, So then you think, is that getting in MICHAELA. Schiffrin's head, Like, just all of the mental aspects of this. This isn't about physically who's the best, it's who can handle the pressure.

Speaker 3: So so yeah, it was just a different the highs and the lows of the Olympics. We saw just in a matter of a half a day period. To mention, the men's cross country a ski team, most medals in a single games for that team. Again the US not necessarily the Norway's and the Swedens and the Finland's of the world when it comes to skiing, but to see them get that love. And Johannes Claybo should be mentioned. He is now the Michael Phelps of the Winter Games. This should be mentioned. There are only two Olympians in the history of the Games who have double digit gold medals. One is Michael Phelps and two is this superman from Norway.

Speaker 3: Friend guy, I know this guy, Johanna's claybo He is always just worth mentioning. When you only got two guys in history who have double digit gold medals. He is the guy, this clay Bow and you can look him up. He runs uphill in Skis faster than most people run marathons or miles. We're talking about a six minute mile equivalent. You average about eight and a half minute miles running a marathon.

Speaker 3: Point being, he's going faster uphill and skis. He is that kind of a superman. But he was worth mentioning. We don't want to mention the metal count Norway, yes, thirty two overall. Is there a metal count Italy behind them? Then the US with twenty three medals overall, just six in the gold medal count in the Netherlands and Sweden are rounding out the top several. But it's just been fun and we've been glued and now we got skating figure skating to look forward tomorrow.

Speaker 3: The result at this point doesn't matter, as her teammate said, But yes, I want to give that. You could tell we get sometimes we hop on the mics here and we're a little more hyped up some days another you can tell we just finished watching a race of some kind. But we do want to get going on the run here this morning. We do want to start out in Tucson, where there has been a major setback in the investigation and through the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. That setback is that after that DNA was found and those gloves that they thought matched the suspects, and they were so much promised that this DNA could turn something back, well, they put it into a national database and it did show up no results. So they don't know who this DNA belongs to.

Speaker 1: Ropes, Yes, and those gloves were found about two miles away from Nancy Guthrie's home, and so the DNA might not have matched anything in the National Criminal database. But they are now looking into genealogy companies for the DNA found inside those gloves and certainly the DNA that was found in Nancy Guthrie's home that did not match her DNA or anyone close to her.

Speaker 1: Don't know what that process is like, what that timeline is like to get any sort of results from a genealogy company. Basically, anyone who was related to anyone who had that DNA could possibly narrowed down at least who they may be looking for now. The sheriff did make the rounds yesterday to several news outlets, and frankly, there was no significant headline other than the fact that they're still asking for more help, for more tips. They're saying, please, even if you think what you have is insignificant, it could matter to us. So no matter how random the tip might be, they're still urging people to call that hotline.

Speaker 3: All right, we'll continue here on the run Now we're going to head to Lake Tahoe where an urgent search and rescue operation is underway and highly dangerous wide out conditions after an avalanche buried more than a dozen skiers Tuesday afternoon.

Speaker 1: Yes, as of this recording, nine skiers remained missing. This is just horrific. Search teams we're able to rescue six people last night, but they said it took several hours for the searchers just to reach this area where the skiers are because of the treacherous conditions.

Speaker 3: The skiers were reported to have varying injuries. Two of the six have been transported to area hospitals. The group consisted of a team of guides and skiers who were just finishing a three day trip and were attempting to return to the trailhead when the avalanche happened.

Speaker 2: Now, the area, just to give you some perspective, got.

Speaker 1: Two to three feet of new snow over a thirty six hour period, so basically the entire time these skiers were out there, they just got dumped on. And that area continues to be under what they call a high avalanche threat throughout the day today. So they're saying the search and rescue operations that are going on are actually one hundred percent risking their own lives because they say it's highly likely another avalanche could happen in this same area, So it's certainly hampering those operations, but they will continue to search for these missing nine skiers throughout the day to day. Next up on the run, from wide out to brown out conditions in Colorado, four people died in crashes involving more than thirty vehicles, including six semi trucks, after blowing dirt made visibility next to nothing, according to authorities.

Speaker 3: See some of these pictures are wild that we've been seeing. Heavy winds kicked up the dirt that also sent twenty nine people to the hospital on both sides of Interstate twenty five, with injuries ranging from minor to severe. The winds were also blamed for fueling wildfires in the area and causing flight delays at Denver's airport.

Speaker 1: All right, Next up on the run, we are learning more now about that deadly shooting at a Rhode Island high school hockey game on Monday afternoon. Fifty six year old Robert Dorgan. He also went by the name Roberto ROBERTA. Esposito, opened fire at that ice rink, targeting and killing his ex wife, Ronda. Dorgan and his adult son Aiden.

Speaker 3: Also shot three other people, his former mother in law and father in law, along with a family friend. They are all listed in critical condition at the hospital. Police a three bystanders intervene during the shooting, and that's when Dorgan pulled a second gun out and took his own life.

Speaker 1: Now, the mayor thanked those good samaritans who were bravely able to at least disable that first gun that Dorgan had and said their courage undoubtedly prevented further loss and injury, and we thanked them for that. But yes, this was such a frightening scene. You can see the hockey players. This was their senior senior day for these high school hockey team, and Dorgan had reportedly come to the game before to watch his son play.

Following the death of eighty four year old Reverend Jesse Jackson on Tuesday, as you might imagine, the tributes from all around the world began pouring in for the civil rights leader, and among them there was one from President Trump. And I kind of sound a little surprised here, because yeah, he honored and praised Jesse Jackson on his truth social account.

Speaker 3: It was a tribute to Jackson and Trump kind of like the Trump Kennedy Center. This was the Trump Jackson tribute. But he hit this long post on truth Social and took the opportunity not just to praise himself but also take a shot at former President Obama. Now it was a long post, but in it he did speak on Jesse Jackson said he was a good man with lots of personality, grit, and street smarts.

He said some nice things about him, and I.

Speaker 1: He said something nice about Jesse Jackson, but then went on to say, I'm not a racist, so I don't know. Seemed slightly self serving, but the post did include pictures of Jackson and Trump over the past several decades, dating back to the nineteen eighties. Now, of course, according to his family, Jesse Jackson passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday. No official cause of death was announced, but we do know he had been suffering from a neurodegenerative condition as well as Parkinson's disease. There were plenty of other tributes that didn't include patting themselves on the back.

You know, earlier this morning, I was laughing. I was like, I love the story because we recently had a conversation specifically about this here at home, but now it's played out in federal court.

And sure enough, this is because I think maybe they're the only ones who've coined this phrase. But yes, in a ten page ruling, a federal court judge has ruled that Buffalo Wild Wings can continue to call one of its menu items boneless wings, even though they're essentially chicken nuggets. He acknowledges in the ten page court ruling, Okay, so I was right. Okay, wait, so the rule. The ruling comes in response to a law lawsuit filed by a patron who said when he ordered boneless wings at Buffalo Wild Wings in twenty twenty three, he expected to get wings that were deboned.

They have to cite other court cases. Apparently there was a court case in Ohio in the Supreme Court where he was able to cite that ruling to explain what customers should expect when they place an order at a restaurant. And here was the comparison. A diner reading boneless wings on a menu would no more believe that the restaurant was warranting the absence of bones in the items then believe that the items were made from chicken wings, just as a person eating chicken fingers would know that he had not been served fingers. So it doesn't have to have be a wing, just like it doesn't have to be a finger.

People just want to just go in and be great. They just want things to happen. And I appreciate the fact that it takes every little step to create a miracle. It doesn't just happen overnight. And I just appreciated the fact that she has been through it eight years waiting for this and she brought it home today. And it's proof that miracles happen because of all the steps you take to get there to bring them home.
