So much of the news has been generated has been coming out of one spot these days, Tucson, Arizona, where police continue to search for eighty four year old Savannah Guthrie's mom here, Nancy Guthrie. Several developments overnight, including I guess mainly robes At. The siblings went to Instagram yesterday and on camera made a plea to any potential kidnapper. I said, they have acknowledged that they've seen the ransom letters in the media, said they're doing everything they can. But they said, directly to potential kidnappers, quote, we are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. Need to know without a doubt that she is alive. Remarkable. Robes is the stuff we see play out in movies and just in real life. Almost a negotiation happening in media for ransom for a loved one.

Speaker 1: It was so chilling to watch and so surreal to watch. And in that same video, it was a four minute video that Savannah posted online to her social media, her Instagram. She was there alongside Annie and Cameron, her sister and her brother, and both Savannah and Annie spoke directly to camera about their mom and they were speaking to their mom in the video as well, Savannah letting everyone know that her mom's health and her heart is fragile. She said, she lives in constant pain. She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive, she needs it not to suffer. And I think just this was gutting to so many people because Savannah was clearly and understandably very emotional as she was saying all of this. She said, Mommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman. She told her mom that we believe and know that he is with you. She's talked a lot about her faith and has asked for prayers throughout all of this, but she said that they will not rest until they are all together again. She said, we rejoice in advance for the day that we hold you in our arms again, we love you. And then we also heard from President Trump, who spoke to Savannah earlier in the day. He posted this to his true social last night. He said he spoke to Savannah and he said, I let her know that I am directing all federal law enforcement to be at the families the local law enforcement's complete disposal immediately. He said, God bless and protect Nancy.

Speaker 2: I also started yesterday as well, really got going in media and the sheriff had to address had to let everybody know, no, we do not have a suspect. No one has been identified as a suspect or person of interest. He had to put that out after Ashley Banfield, a journalist some four decades here of this country independent journalists now, but she went on her platforms and said that there was a source of hers that was saying that a family member was a prime suspect being looked at. So the sheriff had to come out and say, no, that is not the case. We are expecting to hear from the sheriff today has a press conference schedule at one o'clock Eastern time. A reminder, Nancy Guthrie has been missing since last Saturday, dropped off Saturday night, didn't show up a church on Sunday morning, and we are some four or five days now into this search.

Speaker 1: All right. Next up on the run, we heard from Borderzar Tom Homan yesterday. He had a big announcement that they are going to be withdrawing ICE agents from Minneapolis. Homan saying seven hundred Immigration and Border agents will leave the Twin Cities effective immediately. That shrinks the number of boots on the ground from three thousand to twenty three hundred. And that was just not enough for Mayor Jacob Frye, who reacted to Holman's announcement on social media, saying, two thousand federal agents isn't a de escalation. My message to the White House has been consistent. Opera Metro surge has been catastrophic for our residents and businesses. It needs to end immediately.

Speaker 2: But hey, it's going the right direction from what it was. I get what he's saying, but it's going the right direction that they want. Before this operation, this surge, there were only eighty ICE agents in that area.

Speaker 2: Part of the reason they can now do this reduction is that local law enforcement is allowing them into the jails to arrest immigrants for deportation who have already been arrested for a crime. Local officials say, hey, we were already doing that, but hey, that's whatever, public back and forth. DHS says it has arrested more than four thousand immigrants as part of the operation, including people convicted of murder, sex offenses, and other crimes. This comes weeks after, of course, now, the fatal shootings of Alex Preddy and Renee Good. We did hear from the brother of Renee Good testified on Capitol Hill about the use of force by federal agents and the impact of losing his sister.

Speaker 1: All right. Next up on the run, The man convicted of trying to assassinate then candidate Donald Trump back in twenty twenty four has now officially been sentenced to life in prison. Sixty year old Ryan Ralph had been asking for a reduced sentence given his age, but the judge handed down the maximum penalty for attempting to kill a major presidential candidate. Prosecutors said Ralph has shown no remorse and plotted painstakingly to kill Trump when he hid in the bushes and aimed his rifle at Trump while he played golf at his West Palm Beach golf course. This was in September of twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2: We had to Washington where it was a brutal day for journalism. Really Washington Post just stunning. A third of the staff at this legendary newspaper got worth that they were being laid off. That includes more than three hundred folks in the newsroom alone. The Post executive editor said it was painful but necessary, adding we can't be everything to everyone. So the sports section is going to be gone, Several foreign bureaus are being eliminated, the book's division is gone. And as he announced these changes in an online meeting, the staff began receiving emails. They we got one of two emails in that subject line either said you got a job or you don't.

Speaker 1: Can you imagine getting that email and waiting to see if you still had a job. And, by the way, journalists have been pleading for the last several weeks. According to reports, they've been pleading directly to Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos to step in to stop the layoffs, to stop the cutbacks, but he has not responded directly, as far as anyone knows, but many are hoping that perhaps this could be a signal that Bezos is planning to sell the paper. You know, you reduce staff, you reduce your operating budget, and then you sell and the Post guild the reporters who are there, and the Washington Post said this, if Jeff Bezos is no longer willing to invest in the mission that has defined this paper for generations and serve the millions who depend on Post journalism, then the Post deserves a steward that will. And a lot of people have pointed to the problems, the financial problems from of the Washington Post, from the decisions made by Jeff Bezos himself. They say they are bleeding subscribers who have ended their relationship with the Post because remember the Post pulled back that endorsement of Kamala Harris. They've been directing a more conservative turn on the liberal opinion pages. And look, the longtime readers of the Washington Post don't like what they're reading and they have stopped subscribing, and that has cost them greatly.

Speaker 2: I will stay in watching for the next leg of our run with Bill and Hillary Clinton. They have a date in Washington on Capitol Hill. The two have agreed to sit for depositions to answer lawmaker's questions as they investigate Jeffrey Epstein. Hillary Clinton gonna testify on February twenty sixth. Bill Clinton will follow the next day, the twenty seventh. The chair of the committee, James Comer, who's been trading Barb's publicly with the Clintons, started his statement with this, The Clinton's completely caved and will appear for transcribed film depositions this month. He said he's doing this for accountability for the American people and for survivors ropes.

Speaker 1: Now, yes, you mentioned that public back and forth, while the Clinton spokesperson went on x and called for the Clintons to appear in a public hearing rather than a taped deposition. Writing at the eleventh hour, James Comber asked for a camera. That's fine, he can have one thousand cameras. The Clintons will do this publicly, but that's not what Comer wants. The depositions, he says, will occur behind closed doors. They want them in Washington. The Clintons are pushing for them to happen in New York City. Don't know if they're going to get their wish on that one. Comber set a noon deadline on Tuesday for the Clintons to agree to the terms of the deposition that they have set, and he added a warning to that deadline, saying Republicans will move forward with contemptive Congress charges and move it to a full House vote if there is not an agreement in place by Tuesday.

So it's underway. We actually are watching hockey match now.
