Yes, folks, on this federal holiday of Martin Luther King Day, there are two states that recognize Robert E. Lee Day on the same day as MLK Day, and that is in Alabama in Mississippi. The more you know, just wanted to throw out those facts.

Yes, MLK Day, Yes, it's This is one of the few is it the only federal holiday we have robes that is supposed to be an active day? This is a day of service. They call it a day on instead of a day off. Congratulations, great state of Arizona, the Arizona. If you remember this, you will. They lost the super Bowl over this. The super Bowl was supposed to be out there and they refused to honor MLK Day. They lost so much revenue because of it. Yeah, they were the last state to actually adopt and recognize.

It'll take us to Europe. It'll take us in particular to London. It'll take us to Alaska, it will take us to Spain. We'll also have a leg of the run that'll take us to Melbourne today, one of your favorite spot in Melbourne where some history was made and pretty cool history was made down there. But we have to start this morning, like I said, in europe robes where European leaders, this is fairly rare. They're used to kissing the ring. But they have come together now to push back on Trump, who is trying to take Greenland.

Speaker 1: They are standing up to President Trump and that specific threat to impose tariffs on Many of these European countries are allies, we should point out if they don't support his effort to purchase Greenland.

Speaker 1: Trump has threatened that there will be a ten percent tariff on all goods coming from eight European countries, our allies. Once again, we're talking Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Finland. So there will be a ten percent tariff on February first and a twenty five percent tariff by June first.

Speaker 2: They are pushing back and it doesn't sound like they're going to be on board at all. Put out a joint statement. All eight of these countries put out a joint statement saying, quote, and this is engaging in a dialogue based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. You hear that this is what the dialogue should be, based on principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity, that we stand firmly behind. They go on to say, tariff threats undermine transatlantic relations and risk a dangerous downward spiral. We have seen as well, the people of Greenland seeing some protests, some rallies over there that a quarter of the population of Greenland showed up, not a lot of people, but still most of them showed up, and it was cool. They've shown some hats, red hats over there.

You hate to see this because America is as a place all over the world in pop culture and yes, in sports and Vanessa Williams was singing the national anthem at the London NBA game. NFL has done this, NBA does this too. They start to have these featured.

Williams singing the national anthem in London, and sure enough, at one point in the middle of her song, someone while it's quiet in there, screams out, leave Greenland alone. And your heart hurts for her. Your heart hurts as an American that this is what people are thinking of us. But there was laughter and applause in the crowd that she was doing this. This was the part where that our flag was to She's holding that last note. Somebody screams out, leave Greenland alone, and sure enough there was laughter and applause. And that just sucks.

That is a tough position to be in and not of her own making. You know, she has nothing to do with this. Most of many of Americans disagree with this, if you look at the latest polls, and yet we're all subject to, yes, the reaction from the world.

Speaker 2: I hate this for them because it's happened that the Olympics and other places whereas where you don't have an American crowd, you don't have Americans actually there. So yeah, we've been plenty of places and seeing the national anthem not received well when it's not an American crowd before. So, but good job, more power to her for getting that done. We'll continue here on this Monday morning run another potential escalation in Minneapolis to tell you about. Here the Pentagon reportedly has now put fifteen hundred active duty soldiers on standby for possible deployment to Minneapolis. Word of that comes after the President Trump warned once again he is considering using the Interaction Act, an old law that would allow the president to essentially put federal troops on the ground to bring down an insurrection if you will. He has threatened to use that he has not done. He did back away from that threat a little bit, but still coupled with that threat, the thought that fifteen hundred troops have been told to get ready in a while for deployment. Yeah, can't that be to Afghanistan or to somewhere else. Deployment too many happens.

Speaker 1: And like, yes, right at the beginning of this long national holiday weekend, they were told, no, don't go hang out with your family or friends or do whatever people do on a long holiday weekend. No return to the base, because you may be deployed. And that came with word from We've heard from Minnesota Governor Tim Wald saying that they have the National Guard, the Minnesota National Guard on standby as well. So there was a potential showdown between federal troops and state troops. Let's hope that doesn't happen. But already there have been three thousand arrests in that state. About one hundred and fifty of those arrest were US citizens, and there is unfortunately more to.

Speaker 1: Thirty nine known dead in a high speed train crash that happened in Spain. It was two trains. One was traveling from Mulaga to Madrid and derailed and then went into the path of an oncoming train. This track was recently refurbished, it was a newer train. But they the word coming from the scene there in Spain is just terrific that bodies were found hundreds of feet away from the actual collision. They believe there may be people buried under some of the wreckage. There is still recovery efforts going on. There are I believe the latest cost was seventy three and people in the hospital twenty four in serious condition.

Also, history made by Venus Williams after she loses a Madur will explain that as well. And we have the final four in the NFL, the Denver Broncos among them. However, they just lost their quarterbacks. There we continue here on this Monday MLK run with Avatar three, or as other people like to call it, Avatar, Fire and Ash. It keeps doing its thing. Fifth week out of the box office, it was number one once again, so five straight weeks. It did get a little competition from the new twenty eight years later movie that ended number two. It had thirteen million, but Fire and Ash ended up number one, and now it's taken in one point three billion dollars worldwide. The other thing here of note is that Zootopia Too is now the highest growing grossing animated movie of all time.

It's the most charming little movie. It is wonderful. The characters are great. I don't know how they pulled it off. It's great. I can't even tell you what it's about. I loved it. Somebody little Chipmunk is something wanting to go to become a cop. It was not even Chipmunk. I apologize, y'all, is not. I don't even know what it is.

Yes, the headline is that she did lose in the first round of the Australia Open this weekend. But there is so much more to this story. First of all, she set a record just by competing in the Australia Open. She is the oldest person to ever compete in that match. She's forty five years old. But I love this story. She made her debut at the Australian Open in nineteen ninety eight when she was just seventeen years old, and she wasn't necessarily I don't know how it works. Maybe you can explain it to me. She only got into this competition through a wild card.

Here the Pentagon reportedly has now put fifteen hundred active duty soldiers on standby for possible deployment to Minneapolis. Word of that comes after the President Trump warned once again he is considering using the Interaction Act, an old law that would allow the president to essentially put federal troops on the ground to bring down an insurrection if you will. He has threatened to use that he has not done. He did back away from that threat a little bit, but still coupled with that threat, the thought that fifteen hundred troops have been told to get ready in a while for deployment. Yeah, can't that be to Afghanistan or to somewhere else. Deployment too many happens.

Speaker 1: And like, yes, right at the beginning of this long national holiday weekend, they were told, no, don't go hang out with your family or friends or do whatever people do on a long holiday weekend. No return to the base, because you may be deployed. And that came with word from We've heard from Minnesota Governor Tim Wald saying that they have the National Guard, the Minnesota National Guard on standby as well. So there was a potential showdown between federal troops and state troops. Let's hope that doesn't happen. But already there have been three thousand arrests in that state. About one hundred and fifty of those arrest were US citizens, and there is unfortunately more to.

One was traveling from Mulaga to Madrid and derailed and then went into the path of an oncoming train. This track was recently refurbished, it was a newer train. But they the word coming from the scene there in Spain is just terrific that bodies were found hundreds of feet away from the actual collision. They believe there may be people buried under some of the wreckage. There is still recovery efforts going on. There are I believe the latest cost was seventy three and people in the hospital twenty four in serious condition.

Somebody little Chipmunk is something wanting to go to become a cop. It was not even Chipmunk. I apologize, y'all, is not. I don't even know what it is.

Yes, the headline is that she did lose in the first round of the Australia Open this weekend. But there is so much more to this story. First of all, she set a record just by competing in the Australia Open. She is the oldest person to ever compete in that match. She's forty five years old. But I love this story. She made her debut at the Australian Open in nineteen ninety eight when she was just seventeen years old, and she wasn't necessarily I don't know how it works. Maybe you can explain it to me. She only got into this competition through a wild card.

Speaker 2: She didn't qualify. Most of the people get there's an open tournament, so you can qualify. You just play your way in. But they hold these wild cards. They get the right to just have these special exceptions, And they gave her a special exception.
