Speaker 1: That's right, President Trump is now considering military options for that country, as Iran is now in the midst of another deadly crackdown on demonstrators. As of this recording, five hundred and forty four deaths have been reported as a result of those protests. Trump previously said that the US would intervene if the Irani regime started to kill protesters. That clearly happened over the weekend, and.

Speaker 2: It has been happening, but the numbers really really jumped, and a lot of people are wondering if the President is going to see through on his threat, and he is using some pretty threatening words. He did say yesterday though, that Tehran wants to negotiate and meetings are being set up, but he added this, we may have to act militarily before that meeting ever takes place. But as we continue on the run here related to Tehran, what's going on in that country in Iran. Demonstrations in La to support the demonstrations in Iran took a really terrifying turn when a U haul truck plowed into a crowd estimated in the hundreds. Again, they were there showing support in their demonstration for the demonstrations in Tehran. Hundreds were gathered here. This was in the Westwood neighborhood. Helped me hear this in the UCLA where UCLA is just west of Beverly Hills. Now, no significant injuries. Don't know how that's possible, but no significant injuries. They say a couple of people were injured. They offered to take them to the hospital and they refuse, so nobody even went to the hospital. The driver is in custody. But this driver, which was also another dangerous situation. Role was because we've seen some situations now where crowds know what to.

Speaker 1: Do exactly, and that's exactly what happened in La. They saw this guy plowing through the crowd and they were I guess in the aftermath that were busted out windows of his truck. There were reports that he was being punched by people, and they got him to stop.

Speaker 1: And what he was intending to do was ended because the crowd reacted. Now, whether they reacted appropriately or not, I don't know, but they stopped the attack in the midst of the attack.

Speaker 1: Hundreds more agents are heading to Minnesota. That is what we heard from Christinome. And this comes after a weekend of tensions. Thousands of folks demonstrated. We know that there were at least thirty arrests, but they were overwhelmingly peaceful. They were reports of protesters throwing ICE snow rocks at ICE agents and apparently one was slightly injured had to seek some medical help for his injuries. But look, there were some ugly scenes of citizens versus ICE agents. But we heard again from the governor, from the mayor asking folks not to take the bait, not to give Trump more reason to send more troops. But regardless, hundreds more troops are heading to Minnesota.

Speaker 2: Take the bait, you have to give ICE agents and some of this video you're seeing, you have to give them credit for not taking the bait. I know what a lot of people think about ICE agents and their tactics right now, But a lot of the video and the scenes we're seeing are people yelling, screaming viciously in these guys faces with cameras out while these guys are trying to carry out what are orders for them? And some of these scenes are ugly and you're just waiting for another one to explode into violence or deadly violence.

Speaker 1: It's just there's so much tension and there's so much anger, and regardless of how you feel about ICE agents, as you point out, they are doing their job, and that takes a tremendous amount of restraint to sit there and take it.

Speaker 2: All right, continuing on the run here on this Monday morning, Now, Cuba has been put on notice via two tweets by President Trump. And can we still call the ones on truth social tweets? Can we still call the ones on what else to call?

Speaker 2: Okay, well you get what we're saying here. He does post on truth Social. Now, after Venezuela, the President spoke about Cuba, he spoke about Colombia, even spoke about Mexico and talking about and putting people on notice that you need to behave because you see what just happened to this other guy. Well he did first tweet we're talking about here that put Cuba on notice, said quote. Cuba lived for many years on large amounts of oil and money from Venezuela. In return, Cuba provided security services for the last two Venezuelan dictators, but not anymore. He then says, Venezuela now has the USA, the most powerful military in the world, to protect them, and protect them, we will there will be no more oil or money going to Cuba zero. I strongly suggest that you make a deal before it is too late. Those are certainly strong words, and Cuba is a country that by all accounts, is very much dependent on from Venezuela.

Speaker 1: Bit of tweeting, if that's what we can call it from President Trump. He reposted something from another social media user who identified Secretary of State Mark Rubio as the president of Cuba, and Trump reposted it and replied to it saying, sounds good to me.

Speaker 2: I don't know which one was more alarming to the people of Cuba, the first one or the second one. Continue on the run here now and continuing with escalations between Trump and somebody. This time it's Trump and the Federal Reserve, the FED chair Jerome Powell, who you know he's had a long standing public spat with Well. The FED chair says Trump is threatening to throw them in jail. Yes, the Federal Reserve, if you will. Powell posted a video message saying this agency has received grand jury subpoenas putting them under the threat of criminal indictments. What could they possibly be indicted? Four robes apparently something having to do with increased renovation costs at the Federal Reserve.

Speaker 1: It's over the Central Banks renovation of its Washington headquarters. And the question is whether or not Jerome Powell lied to Congress about the scope of the project. That is the best way to describe it. But we all know, as you pointed out, Trump cannot stand him. He didn't do what he told him to do. He wanted him to raise rates when he wanted him to raise rates, and Jerome Powell did not do that, did not follow the president's bidding.

Speaker 2: But that story continues, folks continuing here on the run. Now, who dumped whom first? The Kennedy Center versus the Washington Opera. This is happening, and this is a bizarre I guess it would be funny if it wasn't so sad. The opera. Yes, the Washington Opera made announcement that it will be leaving the Kennedy Center after forty five plus years. I guess this is one of the high most high profile examples of an artist or an act leaving the Kennedy Center because of Trump's name being on the building.

Speaker 1: Right, and what you just said leaving the Kennedy Center, that the National Opera was leaving the Kennedy Center. That did not sit well with the Trump administration, because the Kennedy Center director Richard Grenell got very upset about those headlines and said, no, it was us, the Trump Kennedy Center that broke up with the opera first. And so he claims that his Twitter, his ex account was hijacked and when he put out the announcement, maybe even ahead of the Washington Opera's announcement, it got deleted unbeknownst to him because it was hacked.

Speaker 1: On Saturday, and then started lambasting all the headlines and reporters theft leaning focus that they must have to say that the opera left the Kennedy Center. No, just let's get it straight, the Kennedy Center left the opera.

All right, continuing on the run here, now, let's head down to Mississippi, where the largest synagogue in that state was set on fire and an arson fire intentionally set according to authorities there, and a man has been arrested. This isn't Jackson, Mississippi. It's the only synagogue in Jackson, the best Israel congregation there. They say it's not a total loss, but significant damage. And I think this one serves. They said about one hundred and fifty families.

Speaker 1: Yes, And how the suspect was caught was of note. He actually I ended up going to a local hospital with burns and they called police. It seemed suspicious to them, and he, according to police, confessed that he in fact, was the arsonist.

Speaker 1: Mask, pouring liquid from a can inside the synagogue before it was set on fire. And this is a significant structure. This synagogue has been around since eighteen sixty It was bombed by the KKK in nineteen sixty seven because the rabbi at the time had expressed support anti racism and support for the black community, and so they were the target of a hate crime all the way back in nineteen sixty seven.

Speaker 2: But that is a shame and don't exactly know why. But the FBI is a part of that investigation as well. We continue on the run here now and nurses about to go on strike this morning in the country's largest city, the one we are sitting in New York City right now. We're talking about around sixteen thousand nurses expected to go on strike today, the largest such that the city has.

Speaker 1: Yes, we are talking about sixteen thousand. So the union and the hospitals couldn't come to terms before their work contract expired December thirty first, and so the question is how does this impact patients in the area. There definitely have been some scheduled elective surgeries.

Speaker 1: They claimed that they've bought out some hotel rooms and brought in some travel nurses to try and make this as seamless as possible a possible bowl.

Speaker 1: They say they knew this was coming, they planned for this, and so they're claiming that this is not going to impact patient care, but it seems impossible that it wouldn't.

Speaker 2: And the alert they want to put out there, folks, do not watch what's on the news and say, oh, I'm not going to go to the hospital. Do not delay. If you have an issue, you need to go to the hospital. They want to get that message out because this could do harm if people don't get the help they need. Continuing on the run here now in a touching moment, really a year in the making, at the US Figure Skating Championships. They were in St. Louis over the weekend and Maxim Naumov, twenty four years old, made the US team. Now a lot has been made of him and people who have been talking about him because this young man lost his parents a year ago in that Plaine helicopter collision over the Potomac, and we have to remember, folks on that plane were coming back from Wichita, where they had just had the US Figure Skating Championship. So this is a year really in the making for this young man, and this was I applaud. I am rooting for this kid in every way.

Speaker 1: Oh, we are going to be watching him with baited breath. He finished third, by the way in the competition, so he's one of sixteen who made it to the Olympic team. And he held up a photo of him as a child holding hands with his parents. His parents were world champions in nineteen ninety four. They competed in two Olympics. He talked about one of his very last conversations with his parents before they all boarded, or they boarded that plane, that he asked them, do you think I could be like you? Do you think I could make it the way you've made it? And they were talking about his Olympic hopes, but certainly incredibly, incredibly devastating. They were all there together, and they left on the plane after him. I believe that the next plane he left on one earlier because they stayed to do some business there in Wichita. So just incredibly tragic story, but a beautiful beautiful ending, at least for now, and we will be cheering him on.

Speaker 2: In congrats to him as we continue on this Monday morning run now with Gretville Dead founding member Bob Weir passed away the age of seventy eight. You've probably seen these headlines over the weekend, but he was a founding member of the group. He joined what was already the Warlock. I did not realize this part of group history, but he joined a group that was called the Warlock at the time at seventeen years old in nineteen sixty five. They became now a part of music history, the Grateful Dead. He was a guitarist and vocalist, but on an Instagram count his Instagram count. Over the weekend, it was announced quote it is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Bobby Weir. He transitioned peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, after care urgeously beating cancer as only Bobby could. Unfortunately, he succumbed to underlying lung issues, is how they explained it. But seventy eight. You hear those numbers now, it doesn't seem so old. It seems young for people to pass at seventy eight, But what an impact. I didn't realize they were that young when they started.

It goes on sale today and what makes this Barbie notable and shares something with the autistic community. She also is wearing noise canceling headphones and has a tablet. So just a few differences makes all the difference. When we're asking for little girls to see themselves represented in Barbie's.

Who cares how many they actually sell. This is going to be done in stories across the country today. They did partner with an autism advocacy group to put this thing together. They already have a Barbie with down syndrome, don't they have one that uses a wheelchair. I think there's a blind Barbie as well, So this is something they've done. Look, I really really applaud them for.

Just celebs coming on to talk, that's lame. That's essentially all her podcast is. But she did her thing. And also we should note Renee Wood was mentioned didn't get too political last night, but some of the celebrities were black and white, pen saying be good again again, I keep pulling her? Would excuse me, Renee Good? Yes, I even wrote it in the script here he did, I see that, But they were writing road be good buttons and ice out buttons. Several of the celebrities did. Finally here on the run, we mentioned that it was a big NFL wildcard weekend, but this did have a Golden Globes twist to it. Now. The wild card weekend was very wild. There was an NFL record set for the most fourth quarter lead changes in a single postseason, and they did it in the first weekend. And the first weekend, you had so many lead changes in the fourth quarter of games that it's the most we've ever seen in an NFL entire preseason. And we still got weeks postseason, and we still got weeks to go. Five games for them came down to the wire. The Pagers, the Charges, forty nine, Ers beat the Eagles, Bills beat the Jaguars, Bears beat the Packers, Rams beat the Panthers. But Robes Hayley Steinfeld. Did you see her on the red carpet their picture with the baby bump.
