I don't know, if it was just everyone coming out of Mother's Day, but it seemed it seemed quiet, It seemed a little eerie. Maybe people the haunt of virus has people freaked out. But there was a there was an energy about the city yesterday, and I feel like it's carried over here into today. I don't know what the explanation is.

Speaker 3: I don't either. Yesterday was a weird day. Maybe just people getting settled back in, like you said, after holiday weekend. We're gonna be making stops in a bunch of places today, including in DC and specifically in the Oval Office. We'll be making a stop in Virginia today, making a stop in the Canary Islands, making a stop in Nebraska, and also making a stop in uki og Loook, Alaska. Did I get that right? Uh k, I thank you're right? Okay, in Alaska, we have to make a special stop. It's a special place to us in particular, and we'll explain. But we have to start this morning robes. We're getting an updates on the war in Iran, and it's not.

Speaker 2: What we wanted to hear, not the one we were hoping for at all. After President Trump projected Iran's latest peace proposal this week as totally unacceptable, Where does that leave the ceasefire on massive life support? That's a direct quote according to the President.

Speaker 3: Did you hear how the full thing he did when he made an analogy to a doctor coming in the room and somebody's on life support and the doctor comes in, will give you a one percent chance to live. He actually used that as an example of where we are.

Speaker 3: Yeah, he made those comments and a Q and A with reporters in the Oval office yesterday, also called the latest proposal from ran quote a piece of garbage that he didn't even finish reading robes. I mean, I still want to read it. Just yeah, see it through to the end. Maybe they put a little something there in the PS that was worth looking at. CNN now reporting with the President is considering resuming combat operation.

Speaker 2: And no surprise, President Trump's comments sent you guessed it, oil prices higher. The high oil prices continue to have that impact on how much we are all paying for gasoline. The national average now at four fifty two per gallon. A reminder, before the war started, it had a two in front of it. It was below three dollars a gallon.

Speaker 3: But help us on the way, according to the President, or at least he hope sits on the way in the form of a suspension of the gas tax. The federal gas tax. It's not something he can do on his own with the stroke of a pen. He does need congressional approval, and there's some bipartisan support. We don't get to put that in squad. And there is bipartisan support for pausing the eighteen cents per gallon federal tax.

Speaker 2: The tax brings in billions of dollars each year for highway programs. Lawmakers are now working to introduce that legislation. So how long would this tax be suspended? The President would only say this for as long as it's appropriate.

Speaker 3: It's a drop in the bucket. But eighteen cents is eighteen cents. Yeah, save some money. But some roads lawmakers are against it. Why because it's gonna take away billions of dollars that went into the budget.

Speaker 2: Just a few minor, Yeah, just so, just some small talk, all right. Next up on the run, all passengers from the haunt of IRUs cruise ship have disembarked. The last of the roughly one hundred and fifty passengers were taken off yesterday. All headed back to their home countries for screening and let's hope quarantine.

Speaker 3: Yeah, we say hope because everybody, Yes, every country has their own procedures, and we still have the question here in the US, can these folks be kept, be held against their will if you will. Now we got more information about the Americans aboard that ship. They're back in the US, a total of them, eighteen, as the the number we're told that we're flown back to the US. Two of them, though, went to a facility at Emory in Atlanta. The others are at a special quarantine facility in Nebraska.

Speaker 2: Now at least one of them has tested positive for hauntavirus and another is showing symptoms. But according to doctors. Most of them are doing well. They're asymptomatic, and they're in good spirits. Now here are the numbers that we know. Of the nine suspected cases, seven of them have tested.

Continuing on the run here, Now, this is a story that caught our eye because it involves another incident with a frontier airline's flight at the Denver Airport, and that should sound familiar to a lot of folks.

Speaker 2: Passengers on this flight from Denver to Phoenix hadn't even got off the ground when they were told you gotta d plane. Why, well, this is a doozy. A gun magazine was found on board.

Speaker 3: Yeah, passengers had to be taken off, had to be rescreened, They had to go through all this again. So their eight pm flight turned into a six am the next morning flight. So it's not even a delay rope. They had to spend an extra night there. Turned out the gun magazine it was accidentally left behind. According to the airline by a member of law enforcement.

Speaker 2: That's frustrating. It's frustrating, but at least it was nothing menacing, it was nothing deliberate. That's a good thing. But of course, remember we made mention of this off the top that also in Denver and a Frontier airline earlier this week. It was a Sunday night, I believe it was just a few days ago, but that pedestrian walking across the runway was killed by the Frontier jet that was accelerating to take off, and that flight, obviously everyone had to deplane. Actually the engine caught fire, so people had to like slide off the plane to get out safely from that incident.

But the Virginia Democrats now they are asking, yes, the Supreme Court to let them use the new voter approved congressional map, you know, the one the Virginia State Supreme Court struck down just days after voters approved it a short time ago.

You gov poll was released on Monday, and when Americans were asked if they believe the incidents were staged, a majority of Americans answered staged or not sure. Thirty percent of Americans said they believe at least one of the assassination attempts was staged. Those are remarkable numbers.

Speaker 2: All right, final leg of the run. This is my favorite story of the day. Oh yeah, nighttime, which isn't it's daytime. The northernmost city in the United States just saw its last sunset for the next word eighty four days. And I can see why you thought why it was going to go into dark. But the town of Ukiyavuk, Alaska, formerly known as Barrow. And if Barrow, Alaska rings a bell, then you're like us and you love the movie Thirty Days of Night because yes, that is the town that was depicted in that movie. It changed its name ten years ago to honor the indigenous folks who live there. But they saw the sun rise on May ninth, and it will not officially set again until August second, at two fifty seven a m. And then the town won't experience true darkness for another seven weeks after that. So the next time they will actually have nighttime darkness will be September twenty.
