But wherever you may be, hope you're having a good start to your Thursday morning. We're making a bunch of stops this morning. We're making to stop out in Park City, Utah. We're going to stop in South Carolina and Texas specifically at MetLife Stadium. Will also be making a stop in Taipei, Taiwan, also specifically at the Chicago White Sox Bullpen. We'll explain. But let's begin this Morning Robes with a little fine dining as we speak, as of this recording. As we're recording, actually there's a big state dinner going on in China right now.

Speaker 1: That is what they're having right now at the state dinner that's taking place with President Trump and President Chijen peeing over in China, a much anticipated high steak summit going on today or tomorrow. I guess we'll be day two of the summit. But they're wrapping up their night there now. But yes, that's the fine dining and whatnot that's going on. But robes obviously some serious business to tend to there in Beijing, and that's where we want to start with his big trip.

This is where they met for a couple of hours with all of their teams. Pretty impressive to see that room. Maybe the biggest table I ever seen in my life. But I saw how many would you say, flanked each like on Trump's right and Trump's left? How many people were sitting on each side of both of these.

Speaker 1: Okay, Taiwan is, as a reminder, an autonomous region that China still claims and still wants, so they essentially want the US to butt out of it. I think the US continues to sell to sell arms to Taiwan. So that's what's most important to China right now. Now, this isn't adjacent this next story here on the RAN. It's adjacent, I guess ropes to the Beijing trip of the president. But this was doing the CBS Evening News broadcast last night. You might have heard about this. It's a medical emergency took place. The network says it's cameraman is recovering this morning after suffering a medical emergency during yesterday's broadcast. Anchor Tony Dekoppel was reading over video when you hear him say, is he okay again? They're broadcasting from Taipei in Taiwan.

Speaker 2: Yes, So the network actually had to cut to an anchor back in New York to finish out the broadcast. That's how disruptive this was. The show, Yes was broadcasting from Taiwan, and the CBS Evening News. Yes, hear that is broadcasting from Taiwan. And that's a big first according to the network.

It's the biggest thing going in the world right now, the meeting between the two most powerful people in the world. This is where you want to put broadcast. But several news outlets are reporting that CBS had to settle for Taiwan because Robes they didn't get the paperwork in order.

He is going to stay on, and he said he's going to do so quietly, but he will continue. That's is gonna love.

Speaker 2: Yet another person has been sentenced in the death of actor Matthew Perry. Eric Fleming pleaded guilty to distributing the ketamine Robes.

Speaker 1: I have to be honest, I saw this. How many were involved in right Jesus. Prosecutor say this guy Eric Fleming sold Perry the the very vials of ketamine that ended up killing him in twenty twenty three. Fleming was actually a licensed drug counselor. Prosecutor say he took it upon himself. Robes he heard it through the grapevine that actor Matthew Perry was looking for ketamine. Wow, raised his hand. I volunteered and got in touch with him that way. This now makes at least five people who have pleaded guilty in his death. I think at least four of them have gotten jail sentences. But yeah, Rope, I didn't realize it with that many people.

Speaker 2: Next up on the run, speaking of going to prison, the Utah my ole mom, convicted in the poisoning death of her husband, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Corey Rich's defense team pleaded with the judge to give her a sen with the possibility of parole.

After hours of emotional testimony, victim impacts, statements, I should say not testimony, including heartbreaking statements from Corey Richards's sons, who are now thirteen, eleven, and eight. They were nine, seven and five at the time of their dad's murder. Now their words were unblievable to hear them say, I am scared if she ever gets out, I'll be at peace if she they just went. This was the most damning indictment of motherhood that I possibly robes have ever heard directly from the kids.

Speaker 2: Yeah, and at their ages, they were so just real and eloquent. It was pretty remarkable. But yes, maybe that alongside just the heinousness of her crime. The judge ultimately ruled that Richards was quote simply too dangerous to be free.

Speaker 1: That Richins did get a chance to speak. She took that opportunity. She took about forty forty five minutes, and she read. She wasn't making a plea for leniency. What she did is and I didn't realize she hasn't been in touch with her sons at all over the past at.

Speaker 1: Yeah, she sends them letters there sent back to her unopened. So she says she was taking this opportunity to try to get a message to them. So she took that forty plus minutes and read a letter to them and rose, how'd you put it yesterday? It was a lifetime of parenting in one letter. Yeah, telling them what to do and treat people and all these things.

Speaker 2: Next up on the Run, a shocking get unanimous decision from the South Carolina Supreme Court. They overturned the double murder convictions of Alex Murdaw. The once prominent personal injury lawyer, was convicted in twenty twenty three of the murders of his wife, Maggie Murdau and his twenty two year old son Paul.

Speaker 1: Court ruled that Murdaw was not a fair trial because the county clerk improperly influenced the jury by suggestion they couldn't trust his testimony. South Carolina Attorney General says the state will aggressively retry Murda, and they'll do it soon. But Murda won't be getting out of prison. And yeah, he is not walking out because he has a couple of other convictions and he has got decades forty plus years at least on a prison sentence, So he's not going anywhere.

Speaker 2: Next up on the Run, There were two executions scheduled for today, but it appears one death row inmate in Texas may be spared. Perhaps we'll have more on that in a moment. But in Oklahoma, we know fifty two year old Raymond Eugene Johnson remained set to die by lethal injection for the two thousand and seven murders of twenty four year old Brooke Whittaker and her seven month old baby girl Kaya.

Speaker 1: Johnson beat Whittaker with a claw hammer, set her her baby in the house on fire. Now baby Kayla Kayla died y Kai Kaya Kaya died in the fire. Whittaker died later in the hospital from severe burns and head injuries. Johnson doesn't deny the crime. He describes it as quote a moment I deeply regret.

Speaker 2: And his attorneys have not filed a last minute appeal, so this is going to go through and then later today another inmate was scheduled to be executed in Texas, but a federal appeals court stepped in put a temporary stay on that execution of Edward Lee Busby that happened on Friday. Buzzby was convicted of abducting and killing seventy seven year old Laura Lee Crane from a Fort Worth grocery store. Buzzby's attorneys filed an appeal saying he was denied funding to test him for an intellectual disability, and the test they've independently run, they say, prove he is in fact intellectually disabled.

Speaker 1: The appeals court granted him that temporary stay. Now depending the outcome of a Supreme Court ruling on another case that could impact Busby's appeal. However, Monday, here the Texas Attorney General asks the US Supreme Court to vacate the stay. So now we're waiting on word from the High Court to see what's going to happen. Robes and they don't have to do what if they don't do anything, well, the stay stays in place.

Speaker 2: The stay stays in place until the Supreme Court it makes its decision. But now the Supreme Court they're asking Texas is asking for them to make a decision onlifting this stay regardless of their other case.

After hours of emotional testimony, victim impacts, statements, I should say not testimony, including heartbreaking statements from Corey Richards's sons, who are now thirteen, eleven, and eight. Speaker 1: Court ruled that Murdaw was not a fair trial because the county clerk improperly influenced the jury by suggestion they couldn't trust his testimony. South Carolina Attorney General says the state will aggressively retry Murda, and they'll do it soon. But Murda won't be getting out of prison. And yeah, he is not walking out because he has a couple of other convictions and he has got decades forty plus years at least on a prison sentence, So he's not going anywhere.

But in Oklahoma, we know fifty two year old Raymond Eugene Johnson remained set to die by lethal injection for the two thousand and seven murders of twenty four year old Brooke Whittaker and her seven month old baby girl Kaya.

Speaker 1: Johnson beat Whittaker with a claw hammer, set her her baby in the house on fire. Now baby Kayla Kayla died y Kai Kaya Kaya died in the fire. Whittaker died later in the hospital from severe burns and head injuries. Johnson doesn't deny the crime. He describes it as quote a moment I deeply regret.

Speaker 2: And his attorneys have not filed a last minute appeal, so this is going to go through and then later today another inmate was scheduled to be executed in Texas, but a federal appeals court stepped in put a temporary stay on that execution of Edward Lee Busby that happened on Friday. Buzzby was convicted of abducting and killing seventy seven year old Laura Lee Crane from a Fort Worth grocery store. Buzzby's attorneys filed an appeal saying he was denied funding to test him for an intellectual disability, and the test they've independently run, they say, prove he is in fact intellectually disabled.

Speaker 1: The appeals court granted him that temporary stay. Now depending the outcome of a Supreme Court ruling on another case that could impact Busby's appeal. However, Monday, here the Texas Attorney General asks the US Supreme Court to vacate the stay. So now we're waiting on word from the High Court to see what's going to happen.
